Artist Statement
Films and literature are a rich source of inspiration and an important part of my research when starting a piece of work. Ink, acrylic, pens, pencils and pastels are all mediums I use to create my art. Old photographs are often my starting point. The final artwork is infused with elements of people, places or a mood captured in a photographic image or a film.
I also work digitally. Each artwork is very intuitive, working in layers of imagery, I manipulate and distort an image. The final work is atmospheric and dreamlike which I hope will take the mind of the viewer to another place and time.

Artist Statement
I am a practicing artist specialising in painting. I am concerned predominantly with the materiality of my medium and its evocative, tactile nature - this acts as the driving force behind my practice.
The most recent of my works scrutinise how paint can be rendered through the conscious and unconscious infliction of marks and gestures to form visual work which reaches beyond pure representation. I'm also interested in the deconstruction of reality's forms and the our tendency to piece together these snippets of information.

Lee studied at Ipswich Art School 1989-1991. He graduated with a BA in Fine Art Painting from Winchester School of Art in 1994
Artist Statement
These works are inspired by my surrounding landscape in the village of Somersham, with a sketch book in hand I walk, drawing, making notes of colours, light affects and time of day.
From these initial sketches and notes I make preparatory drawings then to the creation of the painting where I allow my memory of the experience to run free, the painting then forms a life of its own becoming more imaginative in colour and construction.
Autumn has always held a particular fascination for me with its beautiful colours and quality of light, a time when the landscape is between two worlds, a time for contemplation and reflection. Its these qualities I have tried to capture in these works.
