Republic of California
In the newly formed Republic of California, former soldier and veteran of the Second American Civil War, Anonymous, aged 44, offers a personal view into the increasing rate of homelessness in the most prosperous nation of the former United States of America. Moreover, he describes a “Home” from the “good ol’ days.”
…
I was only eighteen years old when I enlisted to protect our freedoms. Back then, you could walk down the block to the enlistment office without encountering one of those damn security cameras once. Now I can’t even take a shit in a public washroom without a goddamn robot trying to sell off the data of my bowel movements. Pardon my French but, none of us thought any of this could happen, not in our lifetimes anyway.
The United States of America was the best country on Earth, not even thirty years ago; and they said we were divided back then. In those days, when my father needed a job, he could just work on his father’s greenhouse, which his father owned, and so on. Now here I am, a war veteran with more kills to my name than my great, great, great grandfather, and I can’t find a single job in the richest country that used to be part of my father’s America. Instead, I spend most of my days and nights, as an “Alley Nomad,” searching for whatever work I can find amongst the last people on this godforsaken Earth with the money to hire. You heard me right, we didn’t pick that name, that’s what they call us. The ones in the suits that make the rules, that tell us who to kill so that their stock prices can keep hitting “record highs,” like one of those arcade video game machines. But that’s besides the point. Now, I’m no stranger to rejection. Back when we had “high schools,” we’d have an annual dance called a “prom,” and boy let me tell you, I’ve been rejected by countless females. In those moments, it felt like the world was going to end, every single time. The world has yet to end, but every rejection today, brings me one step closer to my last dance with lady death.
There was a brief instance in my life when I wasn’t starving, and that was the last time I ever stepped foot in Corporate California. I know that “Content Custodian” doesn’t sound like the best work in the world, and it wasn’t, but it paid the bills. You know how NewTube isn’t what it used to be? Clean, advertiser friendly, child friendly? That’s all thanks to us – well, them. They sit in a room on Floor 2231, floating in a sea of cubicles, toiling away as drones, compiling and cleaning the site. I got fired during my probation period because I couldn’t figure out how to use the damn software. I guess that’s what I deserve for spending my teenage years on attempting to protect our freedoms.
Sincerely,
Anonymous (44)

Republic of Korea
Across the Pacific, in the recently united Republic of Korea, a young musician shares how music motivated him to finish his mandatory military service. Anonymous, aged 26, exemplifies a nation that is “under construction,” as he pushes for major reform, continuing to shape an evolving “Home.”
…
Thank you so much to Earth-2020 Today for giving me this opportunity to share my story. I am eternally grateful to everyone at the team for giving all of us on this planet a platform to share our personal lives with others. Reading the stories that have been published here have really helped me go through some tough times in my life, so I really hope that my story can potentially do the same for someone else out there.
I grew up in a smaller city in the north of the Korean peninsula. People always told me that my city has a lot of “history” and that it used to be one of the most dangerous places to live on the planet, but all I can remember is the constant construction that used to happen, everywhere. That was one of the many reasons I wanted to leave and move to the big city, Pyongyang. The main reason, of course, was the culture. When I turned 21, I took a break from my general studies to do my mandatory military service. Of course, I chose to be stationed in Pyongyang, and that was when I finally had the chance to make my move, literally.
My time in the army was extremely difficult, especially as I was the weakest member of my squadron. Inevitably, this led to me being the main target of every hazing. But it wasn’t all that bad, as I eventually found my way into the army marching band. That was the only thing that kept pushing me forward to finish my service. Any chance I got during my downtime, I would practice my drumming over and over again. By the time I had finished, I became the lead drummer for the band, but more importantly, I discovered a purpose. So, I packed what little I had, said goodbye to my family, and moved on to my new, “Home Sweet Home,” where I could improve my newfound talent and hopefully, start my own orchestra.
As advanced as Korea is, unfortunately, the government was only able to get here by eliminating all funding for arts and culture. Even the marching band was started by a group of passionate musicians in the army. Therefore, I’m sneaking in a call-to-action, to all musicians who have a passion for the orchestra, please reach out to me at the email provided to apply to be a part of Korea’s new Symphony Orchestra!
P.S. If there are also any potential investors that are currently reading this and are interested in revitalizing our Home’s culture by investing in us and our art, please reach out to me personally, as we would love and appreciate your support, thank you!
Sincerely,
Anonymous (26)

United Nations of Europe
As Europe contrasted America’s dissolution with its own sovereign consolidation, this story contrasts the first with its own lack of conflict. Anonymous, aged 31, presents a love story that could only be told from the most peaceful place on Earth-2020.
…
Hello world!
I will have to stay as anonymous as possible, as I am indeed the Chief Executive Officer of a certain tech firm. But I shall not allow potential stalkers to censor what I have to share with the world – I’ve found love.
Life has been quite stressful, if I may, as our shareholders grow restless and continue to delegate their issues with the executives. However, as I write this letter with my pen and paper (to be digitized later), perhaps I realize that it was for this reason that I spent the majority of my evenings, and weekends, partying and clubbing, throwing back shots with the entire establishment (as I find that it is always humbling to be generous). These outings never provided me satisfaction, though. I needed more.
I don’t know how I didn’t think of it sooner, but they have these newfangled “Virtual Dating Services,” where it is now possible to encounter potential partners via “virtual dates.” I spent hours going on these “virtual dates,” meeting hundreds of different women in Virtual Reality, until I finally found her.
She was perfect from the start. We would spend all night talking to each other in Virtual Reality. We were both incredibly busy with our businesses during the workday, therefore, we took every moment to heart, and cherished these brief encounters we had at night. Eventually, I couldn’t take it any longer and I just had to go and meet her. So, I booked a flight and headed to the other side of the country. That day, just being with her, felt like Home. I boarded my flight in the afternoon and departed from the State of France, so by the time I arrived, the sun was ready to set. From the moment we met, we took each other’s breaths away, quite literally, in fact. In complete silence, we embraced each other, then walked along the piers of Greece, in awe of each other’s perfection. We kept walking until the sun turned ablaze into a million colours and eventually, set. That was when I finally decided to break the silence. I asked her, “May I kiss you?” To which she replied with a faint, “Yes.” At which point, my yacht made perfect timing, and arrived at the end of the port, where we boarded in order to get her home.
I have loved her more and deeper every single day, ever since that night. Six months later, I took her back to that same pier, and proposed. Six months after that, we got married at my estate, due to COVID-19. After marriage, my life has never been the same. Now, I have a Home for which I can be proud to call my own.
Sincerely,
Anonymous (31)
