So What Happened?

Let’s rewind to the ‘Montgomery-Vanderbilt Disaster DinnerTM’ for a second, okay? It was wild! Elena was already too many drinks in (her fiancé, Henry Sinclair, once again a No Show) when Faye started that fight with their mom-- when the truth came out about Felicity Montgomery and Ethan McArthur’s romantic history.

The hypocrisy was too much to bear for Elena... After all, she’d been in love with Dylan McCreery in high school and had only broken up with him because her mom didn’t approve. Because he wasn’t the sort of boy that a Montgomery should end up with. She stormed out of the house moments after Faye had, her feet taking her straight to Dylan McCreery’s front door as the rain poured down. He opened the door and she confessed she was still in love with him. And he invited her in, got her a glass of water, some food and made sure she slept off it off.

Dylan was in love with someone else, of course. He’d moved on. He was sorry and hoped Elena would be okay. She had never been so embarrassed in her life when she ran out of there the next morning. Then, between prom and Founders Festival, Elena was left with too much time alone with her thoughts. On Founders Day, she decided to break off her engaged with Henry over his answering machine. Then the dome came down, she never got an answer from Henry and it was just over. It was so over.

Elena was just about to present the winner of the Miss Havensdale pageant (being a former winner herself), when the mic in her hand was removed by one Frederick Bellefonte. Elena was left frozen, unable to process what the fuck was going on. If Javier hadn’t pulled her down from the stage, she doesn’t know what would have happened. But also, like, when did he get so cool!? He was like some secret agent in a movie that day.

Elena and her family barely managed to regroup at Montgomery Manor before the worst came knocking their door down. The Bad GuysTM took their house! They just took it. Elena knows that they’re lucky they got out of there and it was so very scary, but ew that children showed up to save them! Jesse and Jamie McArthur helped them get out of there and then took them in.

Listen, Elena doesn’t want to seem ungrateful (not true), but living with the McArthurs? It’s like living in a zoo! Literally if you count all their combined pets. Elena is having to share a room with Ava Montgomery in a dead man’s bed!! (Like, RIP to Jackson, but FFS). She’s been left reeling and seething still about the Felicity and Ethan reveal. And she’s so terribly bitter about Faye and Jesse being allowed to be happy.

Ugh, and then! It’s revealed that Ava Montgomery is a shifter!! And how? At first Elena screamed thinking that Felicity and Ethan had a baby (ew, Faye! Your half-sister’s, half-brother), but oh no! Because their Aunt Andy Parker is actually Ava’s mom. So now everyone is a sister-cousin or whatever! This fucking family...

Elena’s life has hit rock bottom. She misses her bed, she misses her life, she has truly landed at the bottom of the barrel and she hates it!! On top of all this, she hasn’t told anyone that she called off her engagement and she's been sneaking around with Blake Huang-- a literal Mole Man. She is just having a very uncool and non-groovy time right now. She is in the depths of cargo pants.
