i will say this as a person who is not white: i think being called racist as a white person is like way lower stakes than anyone makes it out to be. and like, the reality is that white people have an inflated sense of anxiety about what being called Racist Means when like. let's be fucking real for a second. it does not meaningfully often result in Material Violence to a person for being "called racist." and I think being racist is just a thing that happens. and like if we are going to say that being accidentally racist from time to time is something that like, is relatively low stakes, that has to go hand in hand with being like. ok well I guess i should take some time to think about why someone might think I'm racist and like Do something about that.

like I think the paranoia and anxiety about how Being Called Racist is something that Does Violence to People is rooted in a white guilt racialized anxiety and if I am going to be real with you I do not think it is based in material reality. you can be a little uncomfortable it's not the end of the world. i think it's frustrating as a racialized person to see so many white people more frantically hand-wringing over the prospect of being called "racist" than over the prospect of Being Racist. it's annoying to say the least.

I looked up pictures of them outside the court and they all held signs and were there to send a message: "health over wealth", "denial of medical care = violence", "murder for profit = terrorism", "the United States healthcare stole my livelihood", "insurance lobbyists line politicians' pockets", "healthcare reform NOW". People (sometimes rightfully) criticize negativity and hatred as foreclosing thought and the enjoyment of life but nowadays it’s much more often the case that enforced positivity and agreement foreclose thought and life. It’s so obnoxious how the second you start going into your actual thoughts about something and your belief that things can and should be different, people just start trying to stop you because it doesn’t involve immediate agreement with the way everyone lives their lives. Who fucking cares, I’m not jumping in front of them and restraining them, and I’m not gonna just yammer about myself all day. I’m already part of the world, how am I supposed to skirt around the edges of it without ever saying anything about any of it? These positivity freaks want to reduce all language to description and affirmation, they want everyone to sound like a fucking advertisement

Do not really know what to say. A year ago we were making posts about how Gaza was being bombed through Christmas- how the oldest Christian community was being bombed- how the birth place of Jesus was being destroyed and his people murdered. A year later, it is going to be Christmas again soon, and the bombings have not stopped. But the news, and the attention seems to have died down considerably. It feels terrible and scary.

Remember kids, the government will test out their bullshit on minor citizens and if that’s successful they’ll move on to adult citizens.

That anti-abortion trafficking law that says if you bring a minor out-of-state for an abortion without parental permission? If successful, they’ll try it on adults next.

The ‘Kids Online Safety Act?’ If successful, they’ll monitor and censor content for adults, too.

The anti-trans healthcare for children Supreme Court case that’s going on right now? Same deal. If they can get it so they can deny trans kids care, that opens the door to prevent trans healthcare for adults, too.

And if you support any of these for any reason, you support censorship and the state controlling aspects of your life. Protect kids’ rights because if they can successfully take legislate away the ability for a minor to travel for healthcare, their ability to use the internet, and their ability to get gender affirming care, they will come for your ability next.
