ECL310 - Week 9 Response
The chosen multi-modal resource is a YouTube video of Dr. Seuss’ book, Green Eggs and Ham https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdotPwVJYzs. I think this is a great example to show students how the read or spoken words link in directly with the visual aspect of the book, as without one or the other, the story would not make any sense or is completely up for interpretation. This resource allows for students to see the impact and value these two elements have in books and on the reader, whilst also showing how amazing and boundless writing can be.

ECL310 - Week 7 Response
Teachers are continual life long learners and it is important to have an open mind. The provided link, https://www.ieaa.org.au/documents/item/128, I believe is a great tool for teachers to see what good and effective English teaching practices are for students from different cultures and backgrounds. It is a clear way to see the effective teaching practices broken down whilst also giving key informational points and tips. The second tool I believe is extremely useful for teachers in the classroom, is this YouTube video that clearly shows how to use quotation marks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7LNkNcDMEY&t=79s. As from my experience working with children on placement and volunteering, most students struggle with being able to correctly use quotation marks and this video shows how they can be used in various ways precisely and clearly.

ECL310 - Week 3 Responses
The resource chosen is an Australian based book blog called, Kids Book Review on Feedspot. The blog is highly beneficial for teachers searching for quality texts, as it gives a complete review on the book, appropriate age, cost, theme, possible additional/future activities, type of text, key learning areas and important messages within, whilst also having interviews with various authors and illustrators.

ECL310 - Week 2 Response
This poster was seen and used whilst on placement on various occasions by the teacher and students, and I believe it is a great visual way for students to continually see the broken-down steps on how to give more information in sentences using the traditional, but effective, who, what, when, where and why to effectively portray ideas.

ECL310 - Week 1 Response
I remember going shopping in a book store with my Mother when I was in grade 3 or 4 and picking up what seemed to be an old rugged book titled, A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. To be completely honest I have never been a big fan of reading, especially when I was in primary school and not very confident within my ability, but when I started reading this book, I truly could not put it down. The way the cover and paper felt tied in perfectly with the dark but innocent gothic fictional story, that really made the book come alive in my little mind and feel as if I were a part of every chapter hoping the orphans would be okay. My Mother capitalised on my enjoyment and my skills improving by buying me the rest of the series. My reading improved significantly, and it was thanks to this series that I truly began to enjoy reading.
Upon reflection, as a teacher I believe that it is highly important to have an array of books for children to choose from, because you never know what might spark the individual into becoming a confident or interested reader.
