I'm still here, still quietly in the fandom but still reluctant to interact or contribute. I have a strong feeling I know at least one of the people leaving these messages but no proof its them. The IP though not fully accurate always brings up the same two countries.

Billy sometimes writes vent type lines on scraps of paper- small, informal poems to vent his thoughts- but he throws them away. He never tells anyone- not even Eddie, despite their growing friendship.

One day he unknowingly misses the trash can, and Eddie picks it up out of curiosity and reads it. He's struck by the words that Billy put to paper, and is taken by surprise at the emotion in the otherwise stone cold King of Hawkins.

Eddie works on it a little, fleshing it out, but keeping Billy's words, his tone and message in it as he makes it into a polished song. He, Jeff and Gareth write the music for it, staying true to the emotion in the words.

Billy comes over a few weeks later, and they play it- sans lyrics. Billy likes it a LOT, and asks if there's lyrics. Eddie just hands him the sheet with the lyrics.

Billy's FURIOUS at first because those are private, Eddie shouldn't have read it, but mostly, he's humiliated, because emotions like those are what make his father hate him.

Eddie coaxes him into just trying to sing it. Just once. Billy caves because he likes how Eddie could feel what he was trying to put onto paper, so he listens again, and starts singing- it's unsure at first, a bit shaky, but when he hits the chorus, he just lets go and Corroded Coffin nearly falters on the music, taken aback.

Billy's voice, when all his emotions are poured into it, is incredible.

Months later, Corroded Coffin is playing somewhere a bit bigger than the local bar- and there's considerably more than five drunks. It's not a huge venue, but the crowd nearly in the triple digits, and the cheers are more than Eddie ever could have hoped for.

Not only is he in a successful band, but he's dating a rock singer.
