For 2024, I’m doing Space Crowd Saturday! Every Saturday, I’ll post a retro sci-fi illustration featuring a bunch of weirdos at a party, pub, wretched hive, you get the picture.
First up is a classic scene by Jack Gaughan, for ‘Isaac Asimov’s Science Fiction,’ March-April 1978

Remembering the good ol’ days, when Black Friday was a bloodsport of consumer carnage to watch in highlight reels on the nightly news. Young people only know this day as a flurry of marketing emails, but real ones remember the K-Mart Killing Fields of ‘95, the Mervyns Massacre of ‘96, the Circuit City Slaughter of ‘97… This holiday has no grit anymore.
...But also, check out my marketing email because I have some good shit. 🙃
