If you think about it, both Hozier and Bad Bunny cover the exact same themes in their music, namely the exploration of human connection/sexuality as a vehicle for discussing a wider anti-imperialism worldview that manifests through their nationalism. It's not a perfect one to one, as Hozier is the better lyricist while Bad Bunny is the better composer, but its actually surprising how similar they both are. They also both are known for playing with mixing traditional genres with modern music styles, and for calling from a wide variety of stylistic influences, as well as expressing their masculinity in non-traditional ways. Wild how differently they're seen by the general public.

Got tagged by @aguacerotropical for the tag game and I've never actually done one (I always forget 😭), so let's give it a shot!

Last Song: Currently listening to Pedro Navaja bc apparently someone made an animatic to it?? Lol I love old traditional music in spanish its all about murder and death and violence and tragedy. Pedro Navaja is a great example because there really is no po8nt to the violence and that's kind of the point as well.

Last Book: Technically Heaven Official's Blessing, although that was like a month ago. It was very fun! I definitely enjoyed Xie Lian being so funny but understated, it reminded me of Zhu a bit. It was overall a nice story, although I wish we got more from his two friends back from when he was human, because that story line really didn't feel like it actually resolved.

Favorite color: I'm a big fan of red! I have a lot of red clothes, so its also my most worn color after black. I think I like being the center of attention a little bit.

Last Movie: KPop Demon Hunters. It was better than expected, and overall was very well paced. I'm not obsessed with it, but it was definitely a fun couple of hours. The animation was cool, and the music was very good.

Spicy/Sweet/Savory: I want to say savory, but I have a huggeee sweet tooth. I'm still dreaming about that fancy nine dollar ice cream shake I got in VSJ. It was just. So insanely good. But then again 20% of my food thoughts are about crab rangoons. Hmm.

Last Show: Dan Da Dan!! That reminds me, the next episode should have dropped. I'm really enjoying the new season, and I'm liking Jiji more than I expected. It's interesting how he's the most shonen protagonist-y of all the main characters, but he's the last to be introduced. It feels very shonen, but its also very fresh and new, which is good because lowkey I don't think there's a traditional shonen protag that is ever going to beat Gon as the best of that archetype.

Current Obsession: Blorbos from my head. I'm starting to actually write the book I've been planning for the past year and a half, and I'm so so so exited to get to work on it. I'm currently in the prewriting stage, testing out character voices/scenes/etc, but I should probably start writing chapters proper in the next week or so? I'm really happy with my characters and themes so far, and I'll continue with some more research once the semester starts and I've got Lazaro access again.

I really want to see more Puerto Rico inspired fantasy settings, and I've had a lot of fun crafting this one.

Looking forwards to: Talking about PR inspired fantasy, Beasts of Carnaval comes out tomorrow!! I've been looking forwards to this book since January. Author is from Puerto Rico proper, so I have high expectations. Most of the stuff I've read from nuyoricans has left me underwhelmed, because the PR experience very much feels like something you either Get or you Don't.

Last Search Up: Saddle Soap vs Lexol. I've been hunting for a nice leather tote for college (and annoying poor iris @quimerical about it lol), and I've finally settled on a style and found a bunch of ones secondhand bc I'm not paying 300 whwn I could pay 40. Now I'm just deciding on a color. Once it comes in, I'm going to get it all nice and clean and conditioned and shiny, hence the leather soap comparisons. I'm also going to revamp some of my mom's old leather bags, including a really nice Coach she just. Shoved to the back of her closet??? Insane.
