had he been doing more than usual? he felt as if he was doing the usual amount of work as he has always done, aside from that, he was used to strenuous work. this was not anything he was unable to handle, after all. he looked off for a moment, thinking as wine red eyes wandered in thought. hm, he hummed as his hands idly continued to brush his horse anastasia. she huffed and moved to nudge at his free hand.

     ‘   i did not notice i was completely and entirely doing more than usual. after all, my days are normally filled to the brim with work. perhaps i was unaffected to such.   ’

it went without saying that he could do without the ... very persistent sibling in his doorway. a heavy sigh leaving him as he sets his quill in the ink well, marx could only do so much when she gets this way, once something is in sight and she believed it was worth all the trouble it’d bring her, she’d go after it. this just so happened to be one of them. 

     ‘   camilla -   ’

he starts, before leaning back in his seat. camilla was a devious one, always knew what to say to leave others without so much as a retort, and yet here he was, the crown prince ... at a bit of a loss for words for once. why now? he thought, right when he was in the middle of addressing very important documents.

     ‘   i don’t believe there is anything to speak about, dear sister. i’ve been tending to very important documents and i’d much rather they be tended to ahead of time, rather than later.   ’

god it’s so sad remembering how i spoke about marx also being subjected to abuse on the behalf of his siblings. it gets to the point where he defies garon at every turn should he try to harm his siblings.

these are the one moments you can see him both absolutely furious but also absolutely broken. which is. Exactly who he is. a broken man.

What was Marx's happiest memory? Does it bring him comfort anymore, or is it saddening to know he may never relive a moment as joyous as that one?

ooh ! i love this one actually. hm, okay so.

given the fact that marx is a very steeled man, he doesn’t express himself much i mean, hell, in my canon content for him, he didn’t even smile truthfully when he was first married. he knew it was out of political gain for nohr, and so, while his marriage was not HORRIBLE before his wife died, there was no genuine love if that makes sense? he treated her rather well  and she was happy and they were both happy acknowledging that their marriage’s purpose so they remained in an odd relationship, it was more … hm … platonic? still they shared kisses here and there both for public face and even in private when they’ve spoken together. he can recall that as a pleasant memory.

but what i think he’d find to be his most happiest memory is a difficult one, maybe when leo and elise were born. it was both a joyous memory and a terrifying memory, still being young, marx had enough on his plate with making sure camilla was cared for and that his own duties were tended to, it’s safe to say that they had a rough upbringing ( which can be read in my google doc! ) so having this first bundle of innocent joy come into his life, he knew that 1. he had to protect leo no matter what, even if it costed him his life and the same could be said for elise. 

he does not foresee having such a blessed memory, and it’s indeed left him feeling forlorn that he won’t be able to experience it again. especially with the state of the war, he’s got a lot to do before he can finally rest.

how peculiar. the skies felt tempestuous and yet not a single drop has fallen from the sky. high atop his mount does he look out over the barren hills of nohr, their recent success in routing enemy forces had left his army with minimal wounds. easy enough for them to heal all in due time. that is if this march back home bodes well, the smell of rain coaxes his nose as slowly but surely his horse begins to move forward with a simple pat to her neck.

a voice catching him off guard for a moment, wine red eyes glance to look at the owner as his head turns.

     ‘   it’s nothing of importance. the skies ... i foresee an unpleasant circumstance for our trek back to the castle.   ’

a note ahead of time, my marx is not as expressive as it’s seen in the game. he’s very detached from his feelings and it’s to the point where many assume he’s just lost his heart along the way to where he is today. and despite it being said, it’s kind of true in regards to how i developed his childhood
