Durrrty’s Burrrthday Bash - by Graham Saunders
OK, I know it’s only Tuesday and you’re probably still only half way through the jigsaw puzzle that last weekend left you for a brain, but, Tuesday means it’s only 3 days until Friday and there is something extra special brewing up in the Twisted Pepper this week.  If you didn’t already know the good people at the Pepper are celebrating their 4th Birthday this weekend and the whole place is sure to be rocking, but the highlight of the night is surely the top notch mix of Dublin’s finest DJs in The Loft. In true Durrrty fashion this line up will batter your brain , ride your soul and make breakfast for your heart. As always Durrrty’s residents Barry Krishna, Fogo and Sophis D Kate b2b, will be spinning their usual wicked mix of nastiness.  On the night they will be be joined by some of the capitals hottest talents.  Dan Guerin and Mulljoy go b2b again, if you’ve seen these guys before you’ll know that they’re not to be missed and to round things off we’ll have T3’s Philip Galvin Jnr.  The night will also be filmed for a promo video by Modcot Productions and rumours are starting to circulate about an absolutely Filddthy after party.  So many reasons to go, you’d be an absolute fool to miss this one.

Durrrty @ MUD. The Loft; Twisted Pepper 28th Sept. 2012
Picture the scene: It’s Friday, you’re off for the rest of the weekend, no more responsibilities for at least 48 hours, you need to get out and let off some steam! If like me you think good clean fun is just too 1930’s and you want to go out and get down and Durrrty, then I have just the place for you!! Durrrty’s monthly residence in the Loft @ Twisted Pepper offers a mix of musical talent that caters for everyone. Friday 28th September was the latest instalment of the night which has been going from strength to strength since January.
Proceedings kicked off in the very capable hands of Karl O’Brien, the budding young DJ/producer set the tone of the night early on with some underground house grooves that had everyone in the loft on their feet from start to finish. As Karl built his beats up to a crescendo of deep funky goodness, DJs Fogo and Daz could be seen lurking in the background meticulously preparing their equipment for what would prove to be a back to back set of the highest quality.
Durrrty resident Fogo is a DJ that can be seen plying his trade at a host of top Dublin venues, including recent and upcoming gigs in The Lost Society. He called upon all of his experience to make sure the dance floor was heaving as he belted out some of the finest tracks electronic music has to offer. Daz, his more than capable partner behind the decks was making his club debut, a fact that is hard to believe considering the quality of mixing and atmosphere building tune selection that he so flawlessly put on display. Between them, the lads composed a set that ranged from melodic house to banging techno and was enough to ensure that everyone present will be looking forward to seeing them in action together again in the future.
Next to Grace the Durrrty stage was KDeath, the well dressed dapper rapper is no stranger to Durrrty and set about spitting his lyrical filth all over the eagerly awaiting onlookers. Despite some technical difficulties KDeath put in a performance that was equally professional and impressive, if you haven’t seen this man lay it down already be sure to check him out soon.
KDeath was followed onto the Durrrty platform by another stalwart of the Durrrty team, DJ Sophis D Kate. There literally are not enough superlatives in the English language to explain just how good this set was. Sophis D Kate seemed to incorporate nearly every genre of music into her set and somehow still managed to mix them all effortlessly. Her unique and uplifting style put a big smile from ear to ear on just about every face in the Loft and her infectious energy ensured there were no bums on seats while she was playing.
Last but by no means least to grace the stage in this musical feast was heavy hitting Dublin rapper Siyo. Most commonly associated with quick witted battle rapping on DFI, Siyo is also known for publically telling the country “I’m never moving out” on RTE2 earlier this year. Well Siyo, if you keep coming at us with the raw, gravelly, composed technique you used at Durrrty we’re all very happy for you to stay right where you are for the time being.
If you’re after VIP treatment from hostesses, carpeted walls and chandeliers hanging from ceilings, Durrrty is not for you. If you’re after a good time with some of Irelands best up and coming musical acts and a great atmosphere, then come along to the Loft for the next instalment, you won’t be disappointed!!
