Creature design is one of my favorite parts of Spellward Bound! I just wish I had more time to go into that. On the plus side, my itch is being scratched by a wonderful new show called Dungeon Meshi hahaha

what type of music would be traditional/most heard in the realms and cities?

I haven't given much thought to music, but a couple readers have. In my opinion, woodwinds would be the most accessible to the water realm, while more rhythm based items would last the best in the fire realm. Elves probably get the most inventive.

If the (mucus?) that hylefts secret are exposed to cold enough temperatures would it freeze? and if it can what would happen to a hyleft if its (mucus?) froze on it?

Probably hibernation, but the water realm is relatively warm in most places

I read a sizeable chunk of the old version of Spellward Bound a *long* time ago - I don't remember exactly how long ago it was, but well over five years ago. It then proceeded to almost entirely drop out of my mind until a few months ago, when I tracked it down based on the few details I vaguely remembered, reread it, and quite enjoyed it.

The reason that, unlike most webcomics I read years ago, this one didn't *entirely* slip my mind and stuck around long enough for me to get curious, was that there was one particular scene which just absolutely stuck in my head. I don't remember the precise details, but the Hyleft language was written in a specific fictional script in scenes where it was supposed to diegetically not be understood. Very early, Mateo teleported back to the human realm without Tyson; when he returned (after Tyson had been time-delationed into experiencing significantly more time), Tyson was pictured speaking in partial and broken versions of the Hyleft script to imply that he had begun to pick up the basics of their language out of necessity. For whatever reason, that scene really stuck in my head; maybe it conveyed the simultaneous horror and intrigue of being alone in an alien world really well, maybe it was a really creative visual, maybe it was just a neat story beat, I'm really not sure why. But for whatever reason, that was the scene that I remembered long enough to, years later, think “I wonder what ever happened to that webcomic with the broken language scene?” and track it down.

I have really enjoyed the new version, but I was quite disappointed that the most memorable-to-me scene had been removed. I can't find the old version anywhere, and I believe (though I might be wrong?) that part of the contract for publishing on WebToons is that older versions have to be deleted. That said, is there any chance you could post that scene if you still have it? I would really appreciate the chance to look back at a memory of a creative scene that really stuck with me.

If you come back to me in around -checks watch- 2 years after the final chapter of Spellward Bound is released, I can repost it, along with the entire 30 chapter written script for the canvas version. For now, all webcomics I have ever made are backed up on google drive, including the Canvas version of Spellward Bound. I used to use Smackjeeves as an archive, but the old webcomic world is dying out and the places to save these things is dwindling, but hopefully by then one of the old guard websites are still standing.
