Fingerprints were originally a myth told to deter criminals. It was only in 1858 that police noticed the myth was true.

you have the best attitude in the world go you omg
Oireachtas
I think the reason I’m really happy with my oireachtas score, although technically worlds was my original goal, is because it’s one of the few times I feel my score actually reflected my dancing. Nationals was kind of a flook, and although it was really nice to recall, I don’t think I actually deserved it (don’t fight me on this one it’s the truth). And because no one really thought I deserved it, I felt like I had to keep proving to myself and others that it wasn’t a mistake at feises. And while it worked during the summer, it really got to me mentally this fall and adversely affected my scores. But that didn’t even matter because when I did get high placements at feises, it only continued the vicious cycle of feeling that I didn’t deserve any of the nice placements I got.
Today I didn’t qualify for worlds. But guess what, I didn’t deserve to. If I had qualified, it would have just perpetuated the same pressure I’ve felt since nationals and I’m glad that’s off my shoulders. I don’t have to prove to anyone that I deserved this score. Not myself, not my friends, not my dance people. I danced a 30th place job, and it’s exactly what I got. And I’m so happy I really am. It really feels good to get what you deserved even if it’s lower than what you thought you wanted. I didn’t hit the goal I’d set, but it’s exactly what I needed.
It’s an immense relief to be done with oireachtas. I can’t wait to take this month off and get dance out of my head for awhile over Christmas break.
