Camilla Hect is a vital reminder that being deeply unhealthily obsessed with someone to the point that you can't live without them and want to crawl underneath their skin does not have to exclusively be a sex thing.

people are trying so hard to politicize the plane crash in philly and yes i understand the desire to connect it to the dc crash and blame trump and the FAA firings/hiring freeze but this is a "let's research mama" moment. i am obsessed with reading about the safest/least safe types of small planes (it's a fear i hyperfixate on a lot, i hate small planes and you won't catch me on one ever again) so i can tell you right now that air ambulance flights crash ALL THE TIME relative to the rest of the aviation industry - they are the most dangerous type of flight you can be on in the united states! this is due to a raft of reasons including the industry being run by small private companies with 1-2 jets per, hiring less experienced pilots and crew, the urgency involved with transporting critical care patients blunting crew members' decision making abilities and leading them to make riskier choices that they wouldn't make on a regular flight because someone's life is in their hands... also a lot of them being helicopters and not fixed-wing aircrafts, which isn't relevant here, but it IS relevant to the stats at large.
then there's also the matter of flying with medical equipment on board. you will note in the videos from philly that the plane appeared to already be on fire as it came down from the sky. i really suspect, not that i'm an NTSB investigator or anything, but from my keyboard detective vantage point that has sunk many hours into reading about all the things that go wrong on these flights, i suspect that maybe an oxygen tank exploded on board and it basically had the same effect as a bomb. have you ever seen what happens when an oxygen tank explodes? here's an example from just the other day when one exploded in a garbage truck and nearly killed the drivers. again, this kind of thing is actually really common. there are all kinds of variables that make working around this kind of equipment dangerous, and then add to that, you're doing it on a tiny plane in the sky loaded with jet fuel and it's not as heavily regulated as large commercial flights and your pilot may have cut a couple corners because getting you there fast is his top priority.
point is: everything's a conspiracy when you're a fucking idiot. but allowing yourself to be guided by the desire to "connect the dots" and prove that there IS some kind of dark conspiracy at work, or even just pin it on a useful political target who you're already polarized against, is not useful. (this cuts both ways - both the people who want to blame the trump admin for this crash and their right-wing warios who saw a learjet owned by a private corporation fall out of the sky on fire and said, "this is pete buttigieg's fault for being a homo who sucks dick and cock.") it has been a really, really shitty month for aviation, and a lot of this is, yes, the fault of years and years of increasingly lax standards in the industry, the loss of experienced pilots and ATCs without training adequate numbers to replace the ones retiring, the push for profits over safety, etc.
a phrase i use a lot in my life is "normalization of deviance," which is the term NASA investigators coined to explain the culture of allowing safety standards to slip and not correcting them in order for EVERYTHING that had to happen for the challenger to explode to go wrong. i think aviation in general has been seeing an explosion in normalization of deviance and it leads to the kind of swiss-cheese accidents like the DCA crash. but... it's not the big dark conspiracy people want to make it out to be, and it goes much deeper and further than one administration or the last. you just gotta keep that in mind if you want to understand these things and not sound like an idiot.
ok that's it rant over i'm just so tired of seeing reductive takes about these accidents that killed innocent people!!!

a vital and frequently overlooked aspect of cam's relationship with pal is the fact that her boundaries with him are like. i can accept collecting 96 fragments of your exploded skull, painstakingly glueing them back together, letting your soul move into my body, nearly bleeding out as a result, getting stabbed in service to you, bleeding out again and still offering you another spoonful of blood. but i draw the LINE at letting you write hardcore erotica with my hands

The TN Senate committee realizes that the Dear Leader is wise, strong, beautiful and good. His wisdom shall save us all. Anyone who denies that deserves prison, damnation and destruction. Dear Leader deserves to take anything he wants from you because he is Dear Leader. /s
