In the middle of the brutalist there is a 15 minute intermission. It’s…strange. I shouldn’t be able to talk about the movie while it’s still happening. Some chose to stand in their seats for the entire 15 minutes, without moving. My screening (of the ~4 hour movie) was at 8pm, which lent to a strange lethargic atmosphere. What’s weirder is that there’s a countdown and music to soundtrack the intermission. The lights go down as we near the end and the music swells as if to drown out whatever conversation is happening. I loved it. The rest of movie though… I’m still working through my thoughts on that.
