i do think not being held ‘friendlessness’ as a social ill above your head like the sword of damocles makes any friendship you do hold significantly stronger, and not make you cling desperately to bonds that are not well-fit. tangentially while i do not care about the soft falling out of the freshman friend group i was part of (or maybe i got “kicked out”? i genuinely fundamentally don’t care) i did find it really sad people would privately complain to me, several times, about a guy who was literally just slightly introverted. what are they saying behind my back!
