Text
I will be 30 in a few years time, and I think I finally get adulthood.
I still carry all the confusion, pain and excitement of my childhood years.
I still carry all the melancholy, heartache and fondness of my early twenties.
But now, I put those things in boxes within me, label them with love and look forward to what being older brings.
I'm starting to understand what my mother means when she says 'I know I'm old but I still feel 17'.
You carry all your previous versions of yourself within you, but if you make the mistake of lingering on them, and reflecting, reaching out to the past, like I have a habit of doing, wanting to step back into a previous life for a day, it will drown you like some tortured poet.
You have to pack your suitcase and keep on.
