Human Nature Manifesto
We walk around daily and cross so many people that we will never remember. Regardless, people have so much in common regarding how we think, act, feel, love, etc. The theme I decided to base my manifesto on is human nature and the fact that although we are a small portion of an entire enlarged world, when we spread positivity and kindness, we aid in growing a brighter world. Doing this allows us to increase morals in human beings and helps assist in a more excellent human behavioral pattern in the future. To begin with my first Tumblr, I discussed how a podcast of two girls sharing their journey in faith impacted me. These two girls could've supported their religion and done it silently, but instead, they pushed their words for the greater good. Sharing their stories and journey in faith inspired numerous people to grow in their love for others and God.
The next Tumblr I created was on public art, the Caloosahatchee manuscripts. This sculpture is an identity of our town, and it catches the immediate attention of those who walk past it. The art of the object is lovely to the naked eye of any human who may come across it. This expresses human nature to those of us who walk by and appreciate the beauty of architecture. Allowing ourselves to value the good aspects of our lives helps us continue to see the great in the world. When we focus on harmful elements, we give ourselves no room to grow and appreciate what we have. The next Tumblr I created focused on domestic architecture. The places I had chosen for this topic were two familiar homes where my grandparents lived. What connects this to my theme is that people are very fortunate to call a place home and have family. I compared the two homes, and concluding my topic, I discussed how people make you feel at home, not necessarily just a place that may be capable of that. This allows us to experience human nature by loving and caring for our families, friends, and those who make us feel at home. Our next task for this course was to pick from various poetry and interpret it into a deeper meaning. I chose a poem named "Love and Friendship" by Emily Bronte.
To summarize, this poem discusses the importance of friendship and the fact that we should prioritize it like we would a lover. Loving our friends is an integral part of life, and being there for someone and having that reciprocated creates a better life for both of you. Having people you can count on and love unconditionally despite their flaws and faults helps us create a better world by building trust and relationships among others. The next assignment was to create a storyline. I did one on an imaginary scenario if a zombie apocalypse were to occur. Oddly, this scenario connects to my theme because in a case like this, I started talking about people coming together for survival. Nobody would want to experience something like this alone, proving we can accomplish so much more when we work together—working together creates a better outcome, increases personal growth, and improves efficiency and problem-solving. The next step in this course was to find a list of songs that follow a recurring theme. My theme was based on friendship. The songs I chose all had some connection to friendship and the beauty of it. We truthfully need each other in this world and are more satisfied with the quality of our lives when we develop beautiful connections with people. Finally, when doing my ekphrasis, I told the story of a girl in an art piece from a movie scene. In this piece, I specified the sentiment of the image, which is support and comfort. The father comforts the daughter, who appears to be stressed or overwhelmed— comforting someone when they are experiencing hardships in their lives helps them feel calm and allows them the room to express their feelings and face their problems with the help you can lend them. Human nature enables us to benefit from our characteristics and help shape a better society. It is phenomenal how we all don't know many of those around us, but somehow, we all work together with human nature to build a better world for everyone.

Ekphrasis
I walk into my house, overwhelmed. I quickly run to my room and sit in bed while taking out the numerous books in my bag. As I open one up, tears begin rushing down my face. I have received the worst news of my life today and don't know what to do. As I wipe away my tears, I hear a knock on the door. I try not to appear low, but my voice and face say a million words in themselves. My dad walks into my room and takes a seat next to me. He asks me what's wrong, and I begin sharing what has saddened me. He immediately begins to look at and comfort me while coming up with solutions. Even though my problems haven't gone away quite yet, and I still have a series of stress on my plate, I could not be more thankful for a father who provides me with love and reassurance.
I chose this visual piece because I could get a good visualization of what was going on based on what I saw. Its essential details consist of what looks like a parental figure and a young girl who seems very upset. My translation preserves the original by capturing the emotions expressed in the image. I replicated this portrait by picturing myself as the girl in the photo; when you put yourself in someone's shoes and paint your own picture, the words become natural, and it's easier to express what you see. The new understanding my emphasis brings is the feeling of love and comfort. You can see in the picture that the man is sitting there engaged in the girl's feelings and looks genuine in comforting her. Seeing this makes you thankful for the people you may have who do this.

Beauty of the world
Serenity in motion
The ocean is the first place I think of when I think of a beautiful life. Whether going to the beach with your family or just in the sea, the sea is truly a sight. This photo was taken on a boat, and I remember looking out into the water and thinking about how lucky I was to be experiencing this. The waves crashing together in this image look mesmerizing, and the fact that there is a whole other life underneath the water is even more surreal.
Something in the orange
When I see a pretty sunset, I always capture a picture of it because, as small and straightforward as it may be, it’s not every day that you appreciate the beauty of nature and the pictures painted for us in the sky. The sky is so simple but yet so unimaginable. It’s the kind of abstract art you see every day, but sometimes, you don’t take the time to value its beauty.
Clouds and colors
This is another sunset picture, but comparing the two in the same yard and seeing such a big difference is fascinating. You can see multiple colors in the sky, yet they blend beautifully. What I value about this image is the captivating and breathtaking clouds. Clouds are unique in all their shapes and sizes, and looking at the clouds to look for images is one of my favorite things.
Standing tall and proud
I found this setting in an old friend’s neighborhood. I looked at the tree, the pretty fields, and the sunset in the background and thought, wow, how breathtaking. When I look closer at the picture, I can see different trees in the background, perhaps the palm tree in the middle right or the complete tree on the left. This picture is an art to me; the individuality of the trees and their branches and leaves is unbelievable. We always pass trees while driving or walking, though they all look different and stunning.
Nightlife and the moon
In this image, you can see a very unique tree. This picture was taken at night time with a flash, and I was immediately shocked by the definition of the quality of the photo. You can see all of the individual parts that make up this tree. Another thing I love about this picture is the moon. The moon in the top middle of the photo looks unexplainably fascinating. This photo is one of my favorite photos of the outside world I’ve captured, and I am infatuated by the fact that even though the world is dark at night and there’s only the moon and street lights, we can still see in front of us the beauty of these creations.

What would we do without our friends?
Wannabe - Spice Girls (Pop)
Link: https://youtu.be/Wzxo8sUHYvQ?si=9NzGVl4KkeJjc-Mq
Lyric: “If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends.”
When finalizing my theme for this project, I knew I had to include this song. I chose this song because it resonates with one of my most valuable friendships. When I was young, my mother would drive me to softball, where she would coach my team. And I remember us always playing this song and having a blast singing it together. This song represents womanhood and is personally connected to the friendship I carry with my mother.
Count on Me -Bruno Mars (Folk)
Link: https://youtu.be/6k8cpUkKK4c?si=LCnXLksFp3lK0K3u
Lyrics: “When we are called to help our friends in need
You can count on me like one, two, three
I’ll be there.”
The lyrics to this song are so impressive to me and honestly describe the meaning of friendship. I remember singing this song with my childhood friends. Bruno Mars is one of my favorite artists; his music and lyrics are a masterpiece.
See You Again -Wiz Khalifa (Hip-hop/Rap)
Link: https://youtu.be/RgKAFK5djSk?si=h3XX0S08Sf_Zf08y
Lyrics: “It’s been a long day without you, my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again.”
I chose this song because it reminds me that friendships are everlasting no matter how far apart you are or how much time you spend apart; it’s so beautiful to watch your friends grow in life and know that no matter the changes you go through, you will still have that friendship at the end of the day.
4. Lean On -DJ Snake (Electronic/Dance)
Link: https://youtu.be/YqeW9_5kURI?si=_HqJk0nqGVGejO0o
Lyrics: “We all need someone to lean on”
This lyric symbolizes the importance of friendship. The beat of This song is fun and energetic and I like listening to this song with my best friend. We all genuinely do crave friendship and that person to lean on.
5. Castle on the Hill -Ed Sheeran (Pop)
Link: https://youtu.be/K0ibBPhiaG0?si=3ZhR6mFCEmLFarLd
Lyrics:“One friend left to sell clothes, one works down by the coast
One had two kids but lives alone, ones brother overdosed
Ones already on his second wife, Ones just barely getting by
But these people raised me and I can’t wait to go home.
I discovered this song through a friend group I was in at the beginning of high school. I immediately fell in love with the lyrics. It’s so interesting because these lyrics above show that people have their own lives and can be so extremely different but we are all connected at the end of the day. I am not close with this friend group anymore, but I still see some of their lives through the internet, and it’s so fascinating to see how lives changed for all of these people I was close with at that time, and we will always have the memory in common.
6. You’re my Bestfriend -Queen (Rock)
Link: https://youtu.be/HaZpZQG2z10?si=IGNVFNcIp_dN50FH
I learned this song from my grandparents, and we sang it together. My grandparents are two of my best friends, so sharing this song with them is nice. “You’re my sunshine, and I want you to know… That my feelings are true, I really love you.” These lyrics are so positive and loving.

A not-so-normal day at work.
It’s early Tuesday morning; I wake up and prepare for my day. While doing my hair and makeup, I think about everything I plan on accomplishing today. I walk to my car and start driving down my usual way to work, noticing there is a bit more traffic than expected. Police and ambulance are heading the opposite way of me. I don’t pay too much attention. I get to work, and it’s a pretty busy day. I go into the kitchen to grab some condiments for my table. As I grab a ketchup bottle and make my way toward the exit, I hear screams coming from the kitchen’s exit. Concerned about what’s happening, I open the door to see. The residents are pale, and their faces all look lifeless. I don’t know if I should do something to help or find help. My coworker walks out the door trying to assist a resident; when she reaches, one of the pale residents bites her, and she then has the same lifeless look as the residents. Realization sinks in for both the alive and the dead when we realize we are in a zombie apocalypse and we must do everything we can to survive. The rest of us in the kitchen quickly locked the kitchen doors, grabbed everything we could find, and put it in any bags we could find. We obtain plenty of clean water, protection, and anything else we need. We realize we need food that doesn’t need to be frozen or cooked, so as we make a plan to escape to a vehicle, we also plan to all quickly scavenge in the food storage room on the way out, only we have to be quick and quiet so we don’t risk the dead finding us. We grab everything we need and sprint out of the building to the vehicle we decide to stick together in, but we must run faster when we realize zombies are chasing us and getting closer.

Poetic License
The first stanza of this poem introduces the topic of the poem: friendship and love. The author compares love to a wild rose-briar. Then, she compares friendship to a holly tree. Interestingly, roses appear to be more beautiful, but their lifespan is an average of 7-10 days. On the other hand, a holly tree, which she compares to friendship, is not as appealing as a pretty rose but has a lifespan of around 100 years. The line “The holly is dark when the rose-briar blooms.” She is now saying that when love peaks, friendships decline. The author then describes the beauty of the wild rose briar during spring and summer, but she then follows that when winter comes around, the wild briar will disappear. She describes love by interpreting that it is more often short and sweet rather than genuine and everlasting. The final stanza sums up the author’s point she is trying to make. She says to stop focusing on love because friendships are the true eternal love we need in our lifetime. It is effortless to fall in love and forget about our friendships, but at the end of the day, love usually dies out, and we need to treat our friends the same in love or not because friendships are more long-term. This poem caught my attention because of its truth and a mistake made in my past. Letting a flare absorb you can often leave you with burns and pain. So don’t let a silly little fling ruin genuine and sincere friendships. We can always feel love with friendships, too.

The first piece of domestic architecture I will be writing about is my grandma's old home in Ohio. I chose this piece because it was such a beautifully built home, and I enjoyed spending my childhood here; it symbolizes what I hope for my future. This home has many different walls separating five bedrooms, a basement, two staircases leading up to two additional rooms, a kitchen, a dining room, a vast living room, a hall, a laundry room, a two-car garage, and three and a half bathrooms, the height of the walls appear to be extremely tall. Imagine your grandmas throwing a Christmas get-together with the rest of your family; picture walking up the driveway and entering the front door to the right of a two-car garage. You enter, and the first thing you see is a long, beautiful hallway to your left, a staircase leading up to your mom's childhood bedroom. I remember going up here when it stormed to count the lightning and watch the rainfall. Still, when the family is over, you would usually begin walking upon one of the two openings to the living room, where you would see most of the family rekindling with one another, joining in, and saying hello to everyone. Behind the big sofa people would generally be catching up on was a staircase that led to your uncle's childhood bedroom. This bedroom was so surreal. I always felt so homey upon entering it, even though it was the one room I was in the least. When it was about time to eat, we would all enter the dining room to our left and take a seat while my grandma would bring out her delicious recipes from the kitchen to the left of the dining room. A get-together was generally centered in these few rooms, but the part of the house that stood out to me the most was the basement. When entering the cellar, a wall separated two very long rooms connected in almost an oval/rectangle shape. We would use this unique area to ride our bikes in circles while my grandpa played the song Conga with his small indoor golf set. The second place I will describe is the home my grandparents chose to move to in Florida. To the right of the home's front view would be the door you enter to go inside. There's a small room where we usually take our shoes off and say hello to Grandma in her bedroom to the right. She has a beautifully decorated room with a tiny bathroom to the right and a large area surrounding the bathroom where she does her hair. After visiting Grandma, Grandpa's room was right across the door where we entered. If he is not in there watching football, he is either in one of the following two rooms, the cute small kitchen that connects to the living room, or if you still need help finding Grandpa, he is in the lanai doing work for reallotting. As you can see, the descriptions of my grandparents' homes are very different. When I am older, I would prefer an extensive home like the house my grandparents had lived in Ohio, but however big and beautiful a home may be, it's only beautiful and memorable if you feel the love inside. Grandma's new home may be the size of her living room in her old house, but both are perfect, big or small, and both are beautiful because of the beautiful moments inside.

Public Art
The sculpture that caught my attention when I first came across it was the Caloosahatchee manuscripts. This sculpture is found in downtown Fort Myers at the Old Post Office Building. Jim Sanborn, the creator of this sculpture, created this piece to honor the transition of an old power plant from oil to natural gas. The sculptures are two identical bronze cylinders, approximately 10 feet, with a bright light in the center. These cylinders have engraved lettering. The lettering reflects the surroundings at night, so the letters shine on the building, steps, and sidewalk near the art center. The text engraved in the eastern drum tells a story about the migration of Native Americans into the lower Southeast, which was spoken by Maskoki Indian leader Tchikilli and said to James Oglethorpe. On the sculpture, lines are separating some of the text. The Eastern drum stands on the site of a settlement of Creek Indians that predates the army fort; this eventually gave Fort Myers its name. This drum shows significance by giving our town its name. Then we have the Western drum, which is also historic. This drum contains carbonized bamboo, which resonated with Thomas Edison; between 1927 and 1931, he studied the species of plants for the product of rubber. Edison’s friends hoped that Edison would find latex (a more accessible product to find in plants) to lessen their dependence on natural rubber. This search was for the filament for Thomas Edison’s creation of the light bulb. Finally, by 1879, Edison found what to use for this filament after testing 1600 materials, which were carbonized bamboo. I have learned a lot from researching these sculptures; initially, I thought of them as a pretty view of downtown Fort Myers. However, after learning more about the history and upbringing of this creation, it’s fascinating to know the purpose these sculptures serve.

The painting that firmly stood out to me was Vasily Kandisky's (Garden of Love II) Improvision 27. What first struck me about this abstract was the variety of colors. There are so many separate colors and vibrancies of color, and they all look so lovely together. When I look at this painting, I visualize my illustrations in the streaks of paint across the picture. The big yellow circle in the middle reminds me of the sun, and I also picture several birds when I view this painting. The black lines in this painting are also incredibly unique. They don't make the painting look dark but help make the color of this piece shine. The emotion that I feel when I view this piece is joy and peace. It is so beautifully abstracted and does an outstanding job of allowing you to tell a story with all the different colors, linings, and shapes. To describe some of the birds I see, the red paint on the piece reminds me of a cardinal with a yellow beak, and the green color looks like a parrot. I also love the contrast of colors in the top right corner; it almost looks like a pattern. The black and white smears across the left side of this piece remind me of some figure like an animal. It brings me joy how many animals I can visualize in this painting, which allows me to think this is an outside setting, and with all the different views, I can picture a pretty outdoor space. Overall, this piece caught my attention more than all the others and has a beautiful story to tell.

I chose this podcast for my art piece because of the emotions it has lifted in me lately. I recently had a strong sudden urge to get closer to God, and listening to this podcast has helped me so much in countless ways. These two girls give incredible advice on getting closer to God and share beautiful stories about their faith and journey toward the lord. I have just recently started listening to this podcast, and even though I am so new to it, I have learned so much and have been feeling amazing in my religious journey. They've shown me how important it is to read the Bible to get close to God and how important it is to trust God in his plan. Something they discuss that has powerfully stuck with me is that God's timing is always right. I love that they say this because sometimes I may feel like I'm so behind or question why things aren't going my way. Then I think about this, which brings me such a sense of peace. I've recently felt my relationship with God strengthening and my prayers becoming more well-spoken and beautiful. These girls also mention that God puts you through the hardest things to make you stronger and have it be turned around for the good. After hearing this, I immediately related to it; I feel like without every terrible thing I've been put through and every horrible day I've had, I wouldn't be the strong person I am today, and although those are moments I wouldn't ever want to relive, I've become to be so grateful for them as they've taught me so much and have truly given me so much strength. I've found myself being kinder to people and more forgiving. I go to the gym frequently and decided yesterday I wanted to try only listening to worship music and this podcast. I had a much easier and better workout. Overall, my life has changed and turned around for the better, and listening to this podcast has been a huge turning point for me. I recommend this podcast to anyone trying to grow their faith or relationship with God.
