Three holiday playlists

Hello, friends!

Here we are and it is now after American Thanksgiving, so I hope everyone is ready for Christmas! If not, cover your eyes and don’t look at this post until Thursday, December 1! If that’s still too soon, go live in the 1640s when the celebration of Christmas was against the law, maybe that will please you!

I should have a number of Christmas projects to share with you this year, but to kick things off, here is some music for you to enjoy!

I have assembled three different playlists to share with you. They are, as follows: garbage christmas, best christmas, and chag chanukah sameach y’all.

1) garbage christmas

This playlist is designed to be the worst Christmas listening experience possible. There is a drinking game that goes along with it, so try to listen at parties. I do not advise listening alone. The rules to the game are as follows:

If you swear, including taking the Lord’s name in vain, as a result of the music, drink

If you say some variation of “What IS this???” drink

If you demand that I skip a song, finish your drink

If you demand that I turn off the whole playlist, finish your drink plus the drinks of the people on either side of you

Please listen to garbage christmas responsibly.

2) best christmas

Somewhat counter-intuitively, not literally a playlist of what I feel are the best Christmas songs. Instead, this is just some pretty solid Christmas party jams with a few mid-tempo joints in there for variety. If you have followed this blog for a while, some of these songs might be familiar to you, because they are songs I like, SO SUE ME.

3) chag chanukah sameach y’all

This is a Hanukkah playlist, duh. It has sixteen tracks, so you can listen all at once, or two songs per night or whatever? It is a mix of traditional songs and new songs in a variety of genres and tones. There are zero versions of the dreidel song, so maybe that’s a flaw or maybe that’s a plus, I dunno, you do you.

Designed with the 2021 and 2024 Denis Villeneuve film duology (starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Oscar Isaac, Austin Butler, et al) in mind but one could also apply it to the original Frank Herbert novel. Please drink responsibly, for the love of all that is holy. The spice must flow.

Hey y’all, I tried this game out when I saw the movie at my local cinema a few weeks ago. I cleared a pint of beer by the time Wolfie got to his defense of why he wanted to make The Marriage of Figaro into an opera, so suffice it to say that this game would get you Very Drunk if you had enough alcohol for the whole thing (I didn’t want to grab a second beer as I pregamed with a hard seltzer before the movie and didn’t want to be a total mess in public).
