Be honest and tell me what it is
I just think it’s funny how there’s so many Jiara shippers but not enough representation for JJ being paired with a brown or dark skin girl. Some of you will give fics starring Jiara hundreds of notes but when writers represent black girls that are brown or dark skin, it’s crickets.
It doesn’t stop there. The same people shipping JJ and Kiara won’t hesitate in denying JJPope. What is that, homophobia? Colorism? A mixture of both? Hmm, answer me because you say Pope and JJ didn’t have chemistry but Kiara and JJ did. Believe me when I say I’ve watched the show twice and couldn’t find a lick of evidence supporting Jiara.
I’m going to also make another point and say that y’all only include Kelce in fics when he needs to be a dick alongside Rafe and Topper. Other than that, does he get his own fic with his love interest? Barely. But there’s a slew of Rafe and Topper fics where they’re redeemable.
All of this is giving me Film Twitter vibes when they say Zendaya or Tessa Thompson are their favorite black actresses, knowing damn well they’re biracial/mixed race. What is it, the further the reader is from being fully black, the more acceptable she is in the fandom? I’m asking the same for Pope and Kelce because some of y’all have some explaining to do.
You also need to explain to me what qualifies an ‘x reader’ because as far as I’m concerned, I’m a black reader who doesn’t have pale skin when reading an ‘x reader’ fic. Why throw that in when your writing doesn’t apply to all readers?
I expect honest answers and whatever you come up with will prompt feedback from me.☺️🤎
