January 20th this year is MLK Day! Today we remember and honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. as a Civil Rights leader and activist. On October 16, 1967, less than 6 months before his assassination, King spoke at the campus stadium at Sacramento State College (now known today as California State University, Sacramento) on the subject of inequalities in education and economic justice for the lower class in the United States in a campaign later called the “Poor People’s Campaign of 1968.” About 6,000 people attended this speech.

For today, Jared discussed MLK’s speech in Sacramento and letterpress printed a quote from MLK in 1963. The quote is, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere... Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” This was typeset in 30 point Caslon font. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.

Cory Doctorow has a short story about this scenario . A wealthy doomsday prepper hides all his wealthy friends in his bunker after society collapses. They all end up dying horribly of a virus that one of them brings in on a scouting mission. A scouting mission they were forced to undergo because of poor planning.

I may have written this out before, but I think the best case scenario if Harmon and Co. want to continue Rick and Morty indefinitely is to bring an end to Rick C-137 and Morty Prime's story in the next season or two and shift to following a Rick and Morty from another dimension.

This would a.) Give a satisfying conclusion to C-137's story (and a place people can jump off at if they choose) b.) Make sense in this world that the show has established and c.) Open up some storytelling dimensions that are currently off limits and allow for a sort of reboot.

I think it's incredibly funny that as soon as they announced seasons 11 & 12 and it's all "one hundred years Rick and Morty" there are two questions from the audience asking how they're going to end the show. Damn, Dan Harmon, talk about misreading the room
