Based on Book 2's end and Book 3's start, I can tell Nifara has beef with mc. Which makes sense since I chose to merge the realms. What I don't get is why she'd have beef with mc if mc chose to seal the rifts. That's what the Watcher told mc to do. Do the scenes change or smth? If so, how?

Finished my book 2 replay, and honestly I don't have a lot of new thoughts I haven't had before. I still think a lot of you were wayyy too harsh on this book on release.

I've mentioned this before, but it's really good in terms of lore. I liked the amount of new info we got. And honestly, I don't even think the plot's pacing is that bad. After rereading book 1, I've realised it was also kinda slow until some point. Book 1's final battle is still my favourite.

Book 2 only really let me down with how it handled some relationships. I still think Valax's "You're my only friends" felt too random, especially since almost the whole time she was stuck with the team, they kept antagonising each other. It's also why, in her 'betrayal' scene, I was a little annoyed that both of MCs (non-romance) options implied that they trusted her. It didn't really feel like they trusted her up until that point.

With Aerin, I've mentioned before that I actually like him better in Book 2 than in Book 1. He feels like he has a bit more character. Since he goes away for part of the book, I don't really have any strong opinions on him. I wasn't attached to him in book 1, so I wasn't really moved by his then betrayal and book 2 redemption arc.

Anyway, Book 2 is pretty good. I think on release, it was disadvantaged by the weekly release scheme and the fact that people had a lot of headcanons and opinions on how it was supposed to play out.

I'm replaying book 2, and I still do not particularly care for Valax's redemption arc. I'm being reminded of why I used to dislike her, especially since I'm still in the earlier chapters. I know towards the end of my first playthrough I stopped disliking her, but I still didn't (and don't) really like her either.

Finished my book 1 replay of Blades, and it's still such a top-tier book🤩.

I feel like the only real issue I have romance-wise is that when romancing Tyril (and I'll assume the same for Imtura), by the time the first major romance scene happens in the woods, I feel like they haven't really interacted that much. I've always felt like that since my first playthrough. I just like to assume they grew closer in unmentioned scenes.

Blades is honestly really good with how it handles non diamond playthroughs (though I wasn't doing that in this playthrough). I was doing this replay strictly by the walk-through, and honestly, I could still remember some scenes from when I wasn't. Those scenes from messed up choices/ non diamond decisions were still really impressive and added to the tension and stakes of the story.

Finally, by the end of the story, I'm pretty sure I had like 3 healing items that were never used, couldn't they use any on Kade🫠.

Anyway, Blades lives on as one of my favourite (if not favourite) Choices books. I'm moving on to replay book 2 now. I wanna read book three sooo badly.

It's funny bc just a couple of days ago I was asking myself when it gonna release.

I put off writing my thoughts on the final Blades 2 chapter for so long, I'm pretty sure I have forgotten half of what I wanted to say. I also lost the screenshots so there's also that. Imma just work with my memory.

1) Honestly, this book lowkey gave me the realisation that I'm not very fond of villain redemptions. Sorry, I just never got on the Aerin and Valax trains. I didn't hate them, but I also didn't particularly care. The whole scene where Mc didn't want ppl to harm Valax and Valax going "You're my only friends" kinda made me groan.

2) I chose to merge the two worlds so I'd like to hear how the other choices affect the final extra scene. Also while I'm on this topic, I can't believe they really wrote that Mc was willing to just throw her life and LI away for the shadow realm. I get that the place sucks and she'd feel guilty but umm??

3) I also feel like the chapter (or the one before? I don't remember) tried to address some of the Mc's emotional issues and tbh I was actually surprised they bothered. Still it felt like too little for me (and some things got ignored), but hey, at least they tried.

Tbh if there was anything else I actually thought of for either chapter 17 or 18, it's probably lost to time or until I replay them. It been a blast reading Blades 2. I know I didn't always agree with some of the writing decisions, but honestly I enjoyed it (some chapters more than others). I liked the amount of new lore we got. Comparing the final fights of both books though, I think I enjoyed the one in book one better. Chapter 18 in book 2 just felt like it was trying to tie a lot up together (and maybe it's bc I'm salty there was no Tyril epilogue scene especially now that ik some of the others got one. T-T)

Anyway, I hope to see this fandom revive again when book 3 comes out (because with that ending there HAS to be a sequel, right?? ...right?????) Bye until I make an edit or follow up post after replaying. Might probably disappear until they release ID 2

Emotionally charged chapter.

I'm glad they acknowledged the dilemma of fighting someone who was fighting oppression. Because honestly, no matter what the Ash Empress' original intention, you can't forgive everything she's done.

Also glad that Nia acknowledged that the Light is the Light regardless of Nifara. From Tyril's breakdown I could tell that an unfortunate amount of you have religious trauma and while I can't relate, that's terrible. However, I think it's always best to remember that regardless of religion or lack thereof, there will always be the good and bad among them. Religious affiliations (or the lack of them) do not automatically tell you whether a person is a good person.

Also, why am I getting the feeling Mal is actually related to the Thieves guild leader

Seriously though. Even if we're not going full dark mode, they should at least give us a chance to make less sunshine personality choices.

Honestly it would be a perfect occasion for MC to go dark.

1. Aerin left MC after literally laying in the hay before that he betrayed us when we listened and cared for him.

2. The whole plot of book 2, their memories and missing year would be a conduit for anger and hatred for the group for moving on without her. (that's not good)

3. Even if you pick romance choices for Valax or no, MC still opened their heart for another friend but was burned yet again.

Again, I would want to see MC just snapping and going apeshit on everyone not caring who's who. Perhaps after a major character death.... Not gonna name and put into the universe.
