Antaryon Purple

Soon after the founding of Braavos, the newly freed slaves discovered a sea snail that produced a dark purple dye... similar to the one produced in Tyrosh. The Braavosi soon started to dye the sails of their ships in the dark purple and even painted the hulls of their stolen ships. As the years progressed, House Antaryon became the leading producer of the dye and became renowned for the fabric and paints they produced.

As such, the rich shade of purple became associated with the house and is known throughout the known world as Antaryon Purple. When the sons of Gerris Antaryon (Moren "Mors" Antaryon, Laren Antaryon and Dagos Sand-Antaryon) reclaimed their rightful places at the head of house, production methods changed to make things safer for their workers. House Antaryon now produces much of the purple cloth used in Westeros and Essos.
