Reflection
1) How has each course contributed to your personal and professional development as an instructional designer?
Each course has provided a different perspective and aspect of the instructional design process. As an instructional designer, engaging learner is an essential part of the learning process. Understanding the options available to create an immersive experience is essential.  The way content is designed and presented to the learner can help comprehension and retention.  Images, numbers, colors, and hierarchy provide the learner with information and the way the data is layer can affect the learning process.
Instructional designers work in various industries, and the courses provided the opportunity to learn about other working environments such as corporate and motivational development. Understanding how different industries work has provided me a better understanding outside the academic setting. Being able to assess learners’ needs and translate them to measure outcomes is the overarching role of an instructional designer. As well as learning about the effective use of media within the instruction process. There are many options and opportunities to incorporate digital media into learning design.
I believe one of the classes I learned the most was the audio course. Audio can enhance the learning process and understanding the incorporation of sound elements provided me tools to add to future designs. The video course provided me a refresher to the pre-production and production process. No matter what project a person is working, pre-production is essential. A mediocre planning process results in an inferior quality product.
Game theory can be added to learning to create engagement and interest. During this course, I was able to understand better the idea of gamification and how game theory can improve the learner experience. The learning management systems course was a brief overview that I feel could have provided more information on the management of an actual
LMS through simulation and xAPI for the learner to learn how to learner data to improve outcomes. The media asset creation course provided me the opportunity to work on an independent  project plan, but I feel this took away from the LMS course because much of the planning occurred in this course.
This final course was a good overview of portfolios and has given me some ideas of me what I want to include in my actual portfolio. I have reviewed other student portfolios from other programs and have seen several that would have benefited from our instructor feedback.
2) How well were you able to utilize the concepts and techniques you learned from the program (theories, systems design, interface styling, and the creation of multimedia content) as you designed, developed, and implemented your Final Project?
To be honest, I incorporated some of what I learned but felt limited by the benhanced and Adobe portfolio options.  I am sure there are ways to make an excellent portfolio with their products, but when reviewing the samples provided in the course the instructional designers more commonly used Wordpress or another product. I honestly, felt deflated with needing to use these products and did not have the personal time to do double work in the expected platforms and personally chosen one. Portfolios are an extension and representation of the designer. I would have liked to see more information about personal branding and information on a search for both full-time and freelance work within the course and leveraging your portfolio to obtain employment. It is fine to get the interview, but what should someone expect in an instructional design interview? Additionally, I would have liked to see samples from the professors of their instructional design portfolios. I did appreciate Colleen’s feedback and feel this information will be vital in creating a final portfolio I will be proud of.  As I move forward, I will take the suggestion in creating a demo reel, but at this point I do not feel I have enough items to highlight in a portfolio.
3) Describe your most outstanding personal triumph in each course.
I do not have one outstanding achievement for each course. The achievements run together. For the most part, I was able to attend the live sessions being 7-8 hours ahead and waking up at the wee hours of the morning to participate in. I was able to get 98% of my work on time with competing work, school, and personal obligations. I completed my doctorate during the first 6 months of the program and was dual enrolled in finalizing my research project. I have learned a lot throughout the courses, and most of the classes were beneficial. There was a course or two where I did not like the assignments, and it was a bear to get done because it was miserable to do, but the boxes were checked, and I moved forward. My audio project surprised me and was the best item I created in the program. I was able to be introduced to crucial points of the instructional design but realize there is a lot more to learn. I really enjoyed the visual and verbal communication class because I learned a lot about narration, color, and the hierarchy of presenting the information. In the corporate training course, I found value proposition design interesting even though it is not a standard model I have seen used by other instructional designers. My least favorite class was instructional design and evaluation.  The information was necessary, but the assignments did not support my learning style and seemed repetitive and redundant.  Digital media asset and learning applications were good, but the main project was something I could not recreate, therefore, will not be a portfolio item.  I feel all projects should be something that could be placed in a portfolio, but I did not learn the skills to code this type of project, and it felt like I was going through the motions. I did enjoy creating a video and was a great refresher as a former Full Sail film/video major.  I learned a lot in game strategies and planned to implement these types of elements in my LMS project. I feel I learned more in researching for an LMS in my project than in the course.  I think it would be beneficial to learn more about LMS management, providing the learner skills to understand the backend of how an LMS works.
I would have liked an opportunity to set up a remote instructional design internship to be able to further the portfolio process or at least be given the option. The courses have been small cohorts, and this would enhance the experience for the learner and remain competitive with other programs providing this as part of their curriculum.
Honestly, my most outstanding triumph over the course was outside of the course work. I completed the Adobe Captivate specialist course during this course on May 17th in Orlando while on vacation. I am preparing for my own personal project and will be mapping out my lessons next week for the pre-production process. I have researched different LMS options and have decided on LearnDash for the versatility and have been able to gather inspiration for my future portfolio. I am hoping to have it ready within a month.

Strengths
During media asset creation, I kept on pace to complete the project to the designated timeline. I pushed myself by using Storyline to create my asset to learn a standard eLearning developing tool. I am additionally in progress of taking the Adobe Captivate Specialist course to further my knowledge in standard software used by instructional designers. When I have difficulty with the software, I use various resources such as online videos, books, and blogs to find an answer to be able to create the desired look or interaction.
Weaknesses
Currently, my weaknesses include visual design, lack of software experience, and interaction development. I believe I take too long in getting projects from storyboard to eLearning tool.
I am still in progress of developing my graphic design eye.  I want to create visually engaging projects that keep learners’ interest in engaging interactions. As I work with the software more, I will improve my timing. I look for visual inspiration online and in the world.
Opportunities
As a novice in eLearning, I research out opportunities to improve my baseline knowledge. I am preparing to take the Adobe Captivate Specialist course in Orlando, May 18 and have been completing the prework. I read blogs, view online videos, and read books focused on eLearning, learning development, and visual design to gather a better foundation for future projects. I am seeking out mentorship opportunities to see if someone is willing to work with me. As well, I am in the process of applying for a volunteer opportunity to develop curriculum for a non-for-profit to build my portfolio.
Threats
If I do not engage in learning and expanding my visual aesthetics, I risk creating dull looking projects that do not interest the learner. I need to get comfortable with the software and visual design elements.  I need to work on building confidence and research doing a blog or video tutorials to build a reputation as an eLearning designer and developer.

When creating the assessment questions for the learners of the NASA life support video, the decisions made were designed to gauge comprehension of information presented. The question types varied in presentation order, so the questions were not stagnant and made the learner think and focus. The first step in the process was to watch the video to assess the intended audience. The video was reviewed several times taking notes and identifying key points learners should understand after watching the video. Then the information was reviewed to compare question types to the data creating the best fit. From the notes taken, questions were created to meet the age group of the intended audience engaging them in a meaningful learning assessment. The quiz a traditional assessment is enhanced when combined with an authentic assessment. The authentic assessments further support in conjunction with the interactive quiz the learning process by engaging the students through group activities and relating their home life to life on the space station.  By incorporating traditional and authentic assessments creates a more in-depth learning experience.  The digital media tool provides a scoring system to assess the learner's understanding provided by the video.  If data analytics is available then data can be tracked to assess the student's success or assess the the question in being valid. By reviewing test scores, educators can observe if the learner is understanding the set objectives for the learning object.
