[ ⚔ ] – Perhaps Eli shouldn’t have persisted after the man told him to piss off the first time, but the knight felt like it was a bit unfair that he was receiving this kind of treatment. Perhaps the blond was just in a bad mood? Regardless of the reason, Eli couldn’t believe that this was the same Strawhat chef that Akane had mentioned in passing… He couldn’t help the perplexed look that passed through his eyes as he tried to navigate himself through the now awkward situation he had placed himself in.

Though a small frown made its way to Eli’s lips, he kept his cool as he replied in a level voice, “I’m sorry if I annoyed you. I swear I’m not some travelling merchant trying to get you to buy snake oil or something– but even if I was I don’t think it warrants swearing at a stranger.” A gloved hand reached up to rub at tense neck muscles as he continued, bordering on the line of rambling, “I just, well one of my friends knows you and I thought I’d say hello, though I understand if it’s a bad time. Sorry again.” He offered a sheepish, yet charming smile along with his apology. Should he just… walk away? Gosh, this was a first for him. He’d never been so caught off guard by a person’s response.

[ Btw, it’s mentioned in his bio as well, but Eli spends a good portion of time (several months) travelling around with Akane during the timeskip, so I may mention her in threads. She will not be an active character in the rps nor do you have to follow her account! I just want to let you know ahead of time that one of my other ocs will be mentioned in threads.

If your character has a good relationship with Akane during the timeskip, it’s possible for Eli to cross paths with your muse through that connection as well.

[ ⚔ ] – Eli had settled down for the night, leaning his back against a large tree as his sword lay across his lap for defensive purposes. He technically had more than enough money to rest at an inn after selling his armour for beli, but he didn’t know where he’d get more money from and didn’t want to start wasting the savings that he had. Camping out wasn’t awful anyway– he had done it many times in the past.

He had heard the footsteps approaching him from about a minute or so away, but hadn’t reacted much at all since he didn’t sense any malicious intent. Instead he didn’t pay the stranger much mind, shifting his attention towards the stars… The passerby was probably just on their way to some place else and he didn’t want to frighten them in the dark, so that’s why he was surprised when he heard a voice speak to him through the shroud of night, paying him any attention at all.

He chuckled, “Poetic.” Eli didn’t think of the stars as a disaster however. If anything, they were organized chaos. “How bad would your first impression of me be if I joked about how you shouldn’t cry over a glass of spilled Milky Way?”

——Eli often wonders how his younger sister is doing and feels guilty for disappearing without getting a chance to say goodbye. If he ever gets the chance to see her again, he wishes to explain himself and also hopes that she doesn’t hate him for being considered a criminal.

——Due to spending a significant time alone, Eli has learned how to cook some basic meals through trial and error. He might not be able to make fancy foods, but the basic dishes he serves are yummy and filling!

FEAR

——Eli fears ever being found and confronted by his family, namely his father and brothers. While he believes he made the right choice in protecting and fleeing with the escaping slaves, a part of him still reverts to the little boy who feared disappointing those he desperately wanted to be acknowledged by. 

CHILDHOOD

——When he was an early teen, Eli developed a crush on one of the king’s daughters. He would always catch glimpses of her from afar and would fantasize about getting to be a part of her personal guard. As he got older and he actually interacted with the princess often, the crush evolved into feelings of respect and friendship. He admitted to himself that his crush on her had been due to misplaced feelings. As a child he had wanted to be a heroic knight, and he had placed the role of the knight’s princess onto her.

⚔. fairytales and legends

[ Some of the first stories Eli had ever read were classic fairytales of heroic knights saving the day. He would always become starry-eyed at the idea, wanting to be like the heroes he had read about, and these stories were partly what motivated him during his first few years of training.

As Eli got older he began to explore more mature literature, delving into mythology, fantasy, romances, and poetry. His training took up most of his time and tired him out, but he would always try to read something before knocking out at night.

Ever since he fled his home, he hasn’t been reading much for the sole reason that it’s hard to get his hands on books. Carrying around several novels also adds weight to a travelling-pack very quickly, so all-in-all it’s not the most convenient hobby for his current lifestyle. He instead has begun writing himself, carrying around a small leather-bound journal where he will scribble down a poem or drabble. ]

“Are you okay?!"

[ ⚔ ] – It felt like things were slowly starting to be looking up for Eli. After over a year and a half of travelling, more or less aimless, he had finally found a role within the Revolutionary Army. It’s not that he wasn’t grateful for the friends he made during his travels, it was just that being part of an organization brought back some structure and purpose to the knight’s life again.

He had been tasked with looking into some suspicious characters– blackmarket weapons dealers specifically, and the trail led him to a rather small island with a friendly town. It was the perfect place to hide a base of operations, the more he thought about it.

All of that could be put on hold for the moment though, because now it was lunch time.

He sat himself in one of the only taverns in the town, enjoying his meal as the hooded traveller next to him sat face first in his own food. It was a funny sight, but Eli could tell that the other was still breathing so he saw no need to intervene. The traveller must have been extremely tired… Something Eli could relate to.

The traveller’s slumber was cut short however, the man waking up with a start and in the process having one of his elbows lodge itself into Eli’s ribs. It caught him by surprise, the knight chocking on some rice before regaining his composure, laughter bubbling from his chest.

“Hey man, no worries. We’ve all been there.” He took a napkin and wiped some of the beer that had spilled on the counter as he continued jokingly, “I’m just glad you’re not actually dead. Suffocating in a pile of food is not the best way to go.”

[ ⚔ ] -- While Eli had met several Revolutionaries throughout his time travelling and working alongside Akane, it was his first time visiting one their main base of operation. He was upbeat about the entire situation, happy and grateful for the trust that had been placed in him. He found himself warming up to the people within the group of rebels as well as beginning to understand what they were truly fighting for. 

Eli’s ears picked up the sound of approaching footsteps crunching the white salt that had built up on the shores. He looked over his shoulder, seeing who it was first before fully turning his body to face the individual, a friendly smile on his face, “Hello hello~!” His greeting was cheerful, perhaps a bit overkill, but he was excited about being face to face with someone so high up in the command chain.

“How lucky am I that the Chief of Staff himself was out on a stroll?” He extended his hand as he continued, “I’m Eli, it’s nice to meet you.”
