Ok then. China and Pakistan love each other and are (metaphorically) gay fucking. India is mad and hooting and hollering. So... America-India defense agreement? India-America begin sucking each other's dicks? What's gonna happen?

Yeah everything’s really in flux there.

Historically, America and Pakistan are also gay and fucking each other, in addition to China and Pakistan being gay for each other.

India was seen as being the more pro-Soviet of the two sides of the Partition. So after the Sino-Soviet split, China backed Pakistan a lot as a way to screw over India because India and China have disputed borders and hate each other.

But now Russia’s not so important, and the US sees China as its main enemy. So Pakistan is less useful as an ally (because they’re such good buds with China and would probably never go to war with them for us). The US wants to increase its ties with India and hopefully craft an alliance with them.

The US is basically bottoming for India right now, just absolutely degrading themselves, letting India hit it sloppy style. The US is basically not criticizing India’s internal abuses against its Muslim minority at all, and is not even complaining much that India is literally sending assassins to North America to murder Sikh activists. The US has even gone so far as to coin the idiotic fake term “the Indo-Pacific region” and renamed the military’s Pacific Command (PACOM) to the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), as a way of trying to get India to view themselves as part of the East Asian geopolitical theater.

All of this in the utterly (laughably) doomed hope of getting India to care about the Taiwan Strait and trying to get them to make the suicidal decision to join the war against China if China should ever invade Taiwan—which India is absolutely never ever going to do.

Basically the US in the whole of Southeast Asia is kind of in a bandwagon scenario where the US wants everyone else to be the one who’s going to do the heavy lifting in a future war against China. The US wants the Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, Japan, and India to commit to fighting such a war. And they’re all obviously highly reticent to make any such commitments. Particularly when it’s not even clear the United States itself is going to participate in that war! China might very well call our bluff one day and the US might very well do nothing!

i know i've said this before but i'm going to say it again because the more i work with geriatric women the stronger i feel about the fact that the only anti-aging that women in their 20s/30s should be obsessed with is building strong bones and muscle mass. that's like the most important thing you can you can do right now to lay a good foundation for healthy aging. you can botox the shit out of your face but that's not going to do anything to save you from dying prematurely from a fatal hip fracture that you can't bounce back from because you didn't do anything to prevent yourself from becoming frail and breakable. like i know that sounds harsh but that is reality for a lot of older women and i don't want that to be you.
