The Future Talk :

• Did they have the "marriage talk"? Or was it in the spur of the moment?

They definitely had the "marriage talk". Dr. Ramsey, the same man who said 'I don't know if marriage and kids are in the cards for me' couldn't stop thinking about making Addie his wife. They had the talk about 8 months after they confessed their love for each other.

•How long were they together before discussing marriage?

They got together shortly after the attack and then confessed their love for each other at the end of book three and had the talk 8 months after that(a few weeks after Addie moved in with Ethan). So, I'd say they were together for about 2 years (even before that, but Dr. Ramsey was in denial).

•Additionally, did they discuss any other aspects of a future together at the same time?

Yes they did. They occassionally talked about kids and other aspects of future.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I did not expect to jump from the very beginning of Book One straight into post-OH bliss, but this idea refused to leave my mind, and I was too impatient to wait with the posting until I finish the first few chapters of OH 1. I don't even know if this makes complete sense, but the thought of this did not let me sleep properly. So, here we go, and enjoy! (Also, grammar revision? Don’t know her.)

September 2021

Only a few weeks ago, the sheer thought of having to endure another meeting in the conference room on the hospital’s top floor would give Ethan Ramsey a headache. There was nothing more tedious, more nerve-wracking, more time-consuming, than sitting in that godforsaken place and listening to his fellow colleagues talk nonsense for hours. He never understood why topics they could have been over with after five minutes sometimes took more than half an hour to discuss, and he was always desperately waiting for the moment when he would be dismissed at last.

Ironically, as the new Chief of Medicine, he now finds himself on the other side of the fence. Whatever he accepts in life, he wants to give it his all, and when he accepted this position, he swore to himself he would do anything in his power to make this hospital an even better place than it had been.

So now, more than one dozen doctors are seated in the soft leather seats in that same godforsaken place, with their coffee mugs and tablets placed on the massive boardroom table in the centre of the room. Except for this time, he is the one who has required their presence.

One of the first things he introduced during his very first week was regular weekly meetings with the heads of the hospital wards, depending on what exactly needed to be done and discussed. This novelty was not welcomed warmly at first, but thankfully, the new Chief is merciful enough to keep the meetings as short as is only possible. Orders are given, requests are proposed, complaints are taken into consideration, and after roughly twenty minutes, everyone can get along with their day.

Right now, as he is impatiently looking at his watch for what must be the fiftieth time in the last ten minutes, Ethan desperately wishes he could finally start and get this whole thing over with. But he cannot. The seat closest to him is still empty. And the doctor who is still not present – and who is supposed to be seated right there – is the one whom he urgently needs to see at the meeting.

Where the hell is she?

But the growing displeasure of the doctors leaves him no other choice but to finally begin.

“Thank you all for coming today on such short notice,” he starts, back bent forward as he places his hands on the table. “I know the hospital is extremely busy today, so I won’t bother you too much and will keep this very brief.”

He shuffles the papers that are at hand to find the exact sheet he needs, then continues, “Apparently, there have been numeral complaints about the unusually long wait for emergency admissions. When I say numerous, I mean way too many. I understand how busy doctors are these days, but a hospital of our reputation simply can’t afford something like this, and we also have to avoid potential physician burnout. Any residents that are able to help out are already there, but it seems that’s not enough. If you have specific ideas on how you think this could be improved, let me know. Or tell me what I can do to help, but this must be resolved by tomorrow evening.

Moving on to the paediatrics, I have–“

He is interrupted by the soft whoosh of the glass door and is left dumbfounded by the sight that appears right in front of him.

Laura herself, looking absolutely, ridiculously divine.

He immediately notices that her hair is much shorter than it was when he saw her in the morning – the auburn waves that were just above her shoulder blades are now cut short at the jawline. His eyes move onto the perfectly proportioned lips, painted crimson red. She is wearing a thin blood-red cardigan with a white pencil skirt, and the red stiletto heels are already clicking against the floor as she is making her way towards the seat.

“I apologise for being so late,” she smiles at him as she takes the empty seat next to him. “My previous meeting took longer than I expected.”

She looks way too beautiful, the freshly cut hair bounces around her face as she shifts in the chair, and when she crosses her long legs at the ankles, his eyes instinctively move lower to enjoy this private little show.

A man has to appreciate the small pleasures of life when he gets a chance to.

But his little moment of being lost in paradise is quickly interrupted by one of the doctors. “Chief Ramsey… The paediatrics?”

The fall back to reality is too painful.

“Right. The paediatrics,” he clears his throat awkwardly, mentally tearing himself away from the younger doctor. “So, uh… The paediatrics. I have asked the financial management to review the budget calendar for this year, and the conclusion is, some of the improvements the ward has asked for could be realised.”

The rest of the meeting passes by fast, even more so because a very nice and very welcomed form of distraction is right there, in the room, and it’s impossible not to steal a glance or two when someone else is speaking. Eventually, everyone starts collecting their things, ready to leave and get back to work. Laura is doing the same thing, taking out her phone from her bag and standing up to follow the rest of the colleagues.

“Dr. Levchenko, a moment, please? I need to talk to you about the new additions to your team.”

And although Dr. Levchenko knows exactly he does not care about the state of her team one bit at the moment, she plays along, muttering a single, “Sure.”

The last doctor barely steps out of the conference room when she feels his strong hands around her waist, pulling her up as if she weighs nothing. He places her on the table and presses to her as close as their bodies let them. The tight skirt is restricting her in her movement, so he cannot step in the space between her legs, though he does not seem to mind much.

Because in a few hours, when they finally get home…

“This is new,” he acknowledges her hair as the tips of his fingers gently push it behind her ear.

“Well, now that I’m the newly-appointed Head of Diagnostics, I thought a small change was necessary.”

“Mmm. I’m afraid we’ve got a code red at the hospital,” he continues, hands slipping lower from her waist and stopping on her hips. “Because you look so fucking hot, you’ve just set the whole place on fire.”

Somewhere, at the far back of his mind, he knows this compliment sounds like it’s coming from a horny teenager, but he does not care, nor does he wait for any reaction, although he feels the low chuckle vibrating in her throat when he starts planting soft kisses at the side of her neck.

In fact, the building could really be on fire right this instant, and he would not even notice. He is lost in his own little world, in all things Laura. She smells so good and looks so flawlessly perfect, and it feels so right to have her in his arms like this. He would not mind being locked up in this room with her forever.

“I’m not sure if this is appropriate workplace conduct, Chief,” she mockingly reminds him, but it does not stop her from sliding her hands over his broad chest. “And didn’t you want to talk about the newest additions to my team, hm?”

And he knows that’s what he should be doing – that’s why he was so desperately waiting for her presence at the meeting. It’s just that with the sight of her, any traces of professionalism have gone out of the window.

“I actually do need to discuss that with you,” he murmurs against the soft skin of her neck, “but I think it can wait until later.”

All rational thoughts evaporate from her mind when he kisses that perfect spot, the tender skin behind her ear, and she instinctively puts her arms around his neck to pull him closer. When their lips connect after what feels like an eternity to both of them, their kiss is tender. Neither of them is in a hurry, they simply get lost in the intimacy and familiarity of the moment, the feeling of their lips brushing against each other making her heart skip a beat.

But then, he deepens the kiss, and his hand presses into the small of her back to keep her close to him as if she might vanish into thin air if he does not hold her tight enough. Her fingers find their way into the curly hair at the nape of his neck and start tracing soft patterns, and it all feels so good, he is already moving forward to push her further onto the table–

They suddenly hear a loud crash in the vacant hall just outside the conference room, and they pull away quickly from each other, both feeling their hearts jump to their throats. But nothing is happening, no one is coming.

Maybe someone just closed a door a bit too abruptly somewhere.

She turns her face back to Ethan, ready to continue with what they have started, but as she catches the glimpse of his face, she cannot help herself but start laughing out loud.

With all the kissing, she has left traces of her lipstick on him, smudges of bright red colour smeared all over his mouth. As if that were not enough, his flushed cheeks make it look even more prominent.

He is still lost in the heated little moment from just minutes ago, and it takes him a while to even register what is going on. And he still does not understand, but her laughter is genuine, and he loves the sound of it so much. While she is desperately trying to stop and calm herself down, he smiles at her in that bright, heart-melting way that he reserves only for her.

“What’s so funny?”

“I like that shade on you. Very bold. Makes your eyes pop,” she quips at last, but by the way he is looking at her, she knows he has no idea what she is saying. She reaches for her phone and turns out the front camera, then hands it to him.

It takes a brief glance to know exactly what made her laugh so much.

“Oh, Christ,” he groans, and she starts laughing again. “Wonderful. Now I’ll be walking around the hospital looking like a fucking batfish.”

“No, you won’t,” she assures him, trying to sound a little more serious after all the laughing, but the slight crack in her voice fails her. “Give me a second, I’ll clean you up.”

She pulls the phone out of his hand and checks herself out for a second, figuring out how much damage there is on her own face. Apart from a slightly blurred bottom lip, it is not so bad, so she pulls out micellar-water wipes from her bag and gets to work, first swiftly fixing her make-up, then moving on to him.

“Will that even work?” he raises an eyebrow but does not say more. He willingly sits down in front of her when she takes out a clean wipe and presses it into his skin, the free hand holding his chin gently to keep his head in place. The feeling of the whole gesture is very soothing, and he finds himself closing his eyes for a while.

After a while, she pulls away, silently admiring her job for a moment. “Done. No Chief Batfish at the meeting.”

He hums a little in approval, then opens his eyes, and the beautiful ocean blues completely engulf her.

“I have to run now. I have an interview in twenty minutes, I can’t be late,” she says then, and he has never felt more disappointed in his life.

“Sure. But you owe me a date night tonight. No distractions. Just you and I.”

The blood-red lips curve into a smirk so irresistible, that he has to hold himself back from kissing her again. “We’ll see if you get that lucky, Ramsey.”

He kisses her on the cheek, careful to avoid more lipstick smears. “I already feel like the luckiest man in the world.”

Addie & Ethan's Wedding Venue :

So, as I've mentioned before in my fic (here), Addie and Ethan chose Naveen's Lake House as their wedding venue.

Both of them wanted a small and intimate wedding and were searching for venues when Naveen offered to do it at his Lake House.

It was their first choice and they hadn't visited any venues before. They both (especially Ethan) didn't want to wait long till a venue was available and thought it'd be better if they did at a private, quiet and peaceful location instead. Also Addie wanted the venue to be by the water. Due to these reasons and many more it seemed like the perfect choice.

After being married for years, they still like to spend their wedding anniversary at the lake house every couple of years when they can.

Addie and Ethan's Wedding Colours and Invitations :

Addie and Ethan's Wedding Colours were mostly Sage Green and Ivory with some Grey :

Who picked the colours? Was it a mutual decision?

The colours were picked by Addie with the help of Sienna and Victoria (her sister) and Ethan being Ethan just agreed when Addie asked him for his opinion and said "If you like it, I like it."

Invitations :

Invitation designs were also finalised by Addie, Sienna and Victoria with some input from Addie's mother and Ethan.

They did not send out Save-the-Date's because it was an intimate ceremony with a few number of people and they simply decided on sending just the invitations.

Hi! Thanks for this ask! First of all I'm in love with that storyline too...it's so sweet! To answer the question....

She did. When they went to Miami she surprised Ethan by planning a really fancy date and surprising him with that blue dress and let's say Ethan had a fun time fulfilling a certain dream he had during Addie's intern year.

I think she would have proposed but not before discussing it with him because he did say that marriage was not in the cards for him and she wouldn't want to make him uncomfortable without revisiting the topic first. But once that conversation was done, she wouldn't hesitate to get down on one knee.

Finally finished my Pre-board exams. Now I have my boards in 10 days which will be over by 19th May and then next grade. FINALLY! This grade was supposed to be over in 11 months but because of COVID-19 it took 15 months....now finally I'll be free!

Ethan proposed on 4th of March two years after he became the Chief of Medicine and Addie became the director of the Diagnostics Team. He proposed at the Boston Public Garden. It was spontaneous, he had initially planned to plan a trip to Miami and propose there, but one evening when they were taking a stroll in the park after a wonderful date he just couldn't wait anymore and got down on one knee. He was planning the original proposal with Sienna's help, which included a lot of romantic and fluffy stuff and although he proposed earlier he still went through with it and surprised Addie with whatever he had planned when they went to Miami.
