Initially conceived as a kitsch small hotel in the image of a monitor barn with a raised center aisle, it became a luxury one bedroom house with an ADU over the garage. Main house is a one bedroom plus an office, one full bath plus a powder room, master suite, easily configured into a 2-3 bedrooms, big kitchen, dining and living areas. Lots to talk about here, I know, a little ambitious. Sq footage: Main house: 1200 sq ft Adu/stair: 609 sq ft-studio, essentially with a kitchen, bath, closet, storage, and a living/office area and doors opening to the patios. Indoor patio: 180-accessible by both residents, a community space. Garage/utility rm: 580-laundry room is accessed by door between the garages.
The property is at 5202 Wooded Glen Rd in Grizzly Flats, Ca, an essentially flat site. The community is in the El Dorado forest at about 3500 ft and is an area that got burned out in 2021 by a wildfire when about 1000 homes were lost. The property is selling for 20k and is zoned for three buildings. It's a little far from civilization for my tastes, but the area may redevelop favorably.

Flashback Thursday-the first one is Larry's house in Lawndale where we did a number of things-kitchen remodel, removed some walls, framed and installed skylights, installed sliding glass doors...the second is a typical Sign-A-Rama install job that I was doing for a while.

A little handyman carpentry job I did for Rick: Fixed the flow of water coming in during a rain storm by replacing the threshold and door shoe and by replacing the rotted jamb and trim work and then sealed it all real good

Some handyman carpentry work I did for Patty: cut down a cabinet in order to make it into a TV stand, replaced a picture sash window, tuned up some old fashioned double hung window by replacing sash balances and removing built up paint on jambs. I also fixed rotted rafter tails and replaced rotted facia.

This is a drawing of a small house that I designed and drew up that would go on an actual site on Old River Rd in Guerneville. It's a steep site that has a great view of the Russian River. The house is about 1000 sq ft, has a master suite, a kitchen/great room, two bathrooms, an office, and a large garage with a workshop. It was conceived to be a residence and an Air B n B, and, in hindsight, I would add 4 ft off the back of the house in order to get a legit second bedroom and a bigger great room.
Even though the site was inexpensive, I believe this would probably be an expensive house to build

Here are some flashback items. First, on the corner of Torrance and Catalina is a building that I replaced a number of balconies with Houghton. I also worked on a kitchen in one of the units with Blues Sky West.
Then, at the development on the corner of Torrance and Vermont, I spent almost a year with Houghton replacing balconies, railings, fences, mail box structures, facias and posts, utility doors, etc.

I had done a drawing for these guys in order for them to get a permit for their sign. I was pleased to see that it looked just like the drawing.

Recently did a little carpentry handyman job for George, reversed the swing of the door from inswing to outswing. Could used more jobs like this and I think there's a market. As the man said, call me whatever you want, just call me.
The Krotz's house, a house I did some work on a long time ago-siding, cabinet installs, some door work, trim, moulding, pick up framing, etc. It's a throw back, but apparently my ADK days are over. I'm thinking that psychopathic weenie who drives the orange VW talked shit about me because I don't like him, causing a blacklisting-the younger guys were all just looking for an excuse to get rid of me.

A personal drawing project I did. This was supposed to a an ADU, but it's a bit big for that I think. Still only 650 sq ft, but has all the compliments of a full house, just way smaller.
I also focused on drawing and designing alternative woodworking concepts since that is a logical place for me to expand my business.

The Lafayette Hotel, a San Diego job we did for Adirondack. basically two rooms, the first being the Mezcaleria where we installed faux ceiling beams and pilasters as well as the stained glass wall cabinets along with lighting as well as the wood church alter and lighting.
the second room was the game room where we installed ceiling tiles throughout as well as wood paneling and jamb work behind the bar.
A great little job. nice to be out of the amusement parks, and no hard hats!.

Did a four month job with Jason at Universal for Chicago Scenic. This was the retail space at the new Nintendo World as you exit Mario Cart. Some heavy lifting here combined with cabinet and finish work. We installed about six semi truck loads worth of scenic and functional goods into this space
Learned a lot about a lot of things here and worked along side union folk.
On the whole, the village is a wonderfully creative environment that required the incredible skills of millions of hours of professional craftsmen to construct.
