The fact that the girl was now smiling was a good sign. “Alright coffee it is then” he says before leading her back the way he came from. Hearing say that he was kind made him laugh. “Ah well I couldn’t leave a poor girl standing alone in the rain” he says with a smile. He laughs. “Well surprisingly enough I actually don’t have somebody to call a girlfriend or boyfriend” he says before he chuckles. 

As he listened to her speak and ask what he does he freezes for a total two seconds before he shook off the shock and smiles. “Ah well actually I just came back from Australia not too long ago. Maybe like about six weeks ago. I’m a swimmer. I was training there to become an olympic swimmer” he says. “I’m in town for a visit you could say” he says. It wasn’t a total lie but it wasn’t the truth either. 

They continued walking in the rain towards the coffee shop. Rin continues to hold his umbrella above them. He turns towards her. “How about you Aqua? What do you do?” he asks her.

That was a surprise to her, to hear he had not been tied by a red string of fate to someone. He was quite good-looking, kind, sweet and caring. He had no obligation to talk to her or check up on her, yet he did. A warm smile lit up her face, “well, whoever chooses you, is a very lucky person indeed. You are a kind and warm person, Rin.” She told him simply and gave a small laugh and spun out from the umbrella into the rain and twirled on her foot, now enjoying the falling rain. Often times she’d run out in middle of a rain storm and as a result have her parents and/or friends scold her for being foolish. She didnt care though, she felt at ease when the rain hit her skin. But, he was kind enough to sh are her umbrella, so she stepped back under the umbrella and looked up as he spoke. “Australia?” She echoed, “well I’m glad you came back, Rin. But, how’s it like over there? Is it, uh, scary....as I hear stories say? “ Just thinking of the spiders and other dangerous creatures made her her shudder.

He asked her what she did and she mused for a moment and nodded, “I am a student, studying dance right now, as well as some biology, er marine biology and not sure what I want to do. I have many options. I also am a figure skater so I’m pretty busy a lot, haha.” She laughed and scratched at her wet hair.

“Sure, Aqua. I’ll be sure to call if I can’t scare people off with my guitar when I chase them out of the shop.” She joked. It wasn’t much of a joke though when it was partially true. People banned get chased out with the instrument she has closest at hand. Thankfully, some people are lucky to just be chased out with drum sticks instead of guitars.

She laughed when Aqua ruffled her hair. It felt nice. She clung to that feeling as often as she could.

“I bake sometimes but I mostly just lay in bed and play my instruments or watch things online. Sometimes people come over to watch movies.” She leaned against the window, her own reflection looking back at her. Beyond that was the outside, green fields looking grayish in the weather they were having.

She briefly wondered why it was always raining when she was with Aqua.

“Not that interesting, really.”

Aqua too couldn’t help but laugh at her joke. Well, at least Lapis was taking it well, and taking it in her own way. Still, she was worried, but felt reassured by her words and knew she could handle herself. She couldn’t really explain it, but it was a feeling she got off of her. She had faith in her dear friend. “Hm~ you gonna rock  it out then?” Once that left her mouth, she regretted it and felt embarrassed. “Oh, that was a dumb joke. Aaah, please forget I said anything.” She waved her hands and shook her head and turned her face away.

Silence rolled over and she took a breath and asked Lapis about her hobbies. Her eyes brightened as she mentioned baking. “You....bake? What kinds of things? Cause I love to bake myself! We should get together and bake....maybe? I mean,” her fingers clutched her skirt, as if nervous, “--if you want to that is?” It was not long that she knew the girl and only saw her on occasion, so she was still a little shy when it came to speaking with her. As confident as Aqua was, she still had her many insecurities like everyone else. “Oh, right...and movies? What movies do you like to watch?” She asked.

It was one of those rare occasions where Haruka actually needed coffee. He didn’t really drink anything besides water, and usually he got enough sleep. However, something about that day gave him the sudden desire for coffee. It was probably the combination of a lack of sleep and working too hard at practice that day, leaving him completely exhausted. As a result, as soon as Haruka got out of practice, he made a beeline to his dorm to change. When he got back, he just slapped on a dry swimming suit, some pants, and a t-shirt for the trip. As he headed out, he had a sudden realization. He had to study as well. Considering he was already going to be drinking something to give him a buzz, he might as well read over his notes and the section they were on. 

As much as he wanted to just carry a few books, he ended up having to tow along his backpack. Which, unfortunately, meant that he’d have to pick up the pace, unless he wants to walk at a snails pace until he reaches the cafe. It was a pain, but he pushed through, eager to get the trip over with.

It took about twenty minutes for him to get there, and by the time he did he was even more worn down. He ended up ordering a drink before sitting down in the only available seat. He unzipped his backpack and took out one of his textbooks, laying it on his lap to read. He started to zone out at this point, not really noticing anyone around him.

Aqua had just finished her morning classes and had about two hours to kill before her shift at the community center. Many options ran through her mind as what to do, and it always came to the same conclusion: studying at the coffee shop. With her objective in mind, she headed there on foot so she could enjoy the nice weather, the bids and the people also having the same idea as her. Such days like this filled her with bliss and happiness and cause of that, she had a good feeling something good was going to happen to her. What it was? She had no idea. But there was a feeling in her chest. It did not take her long to arrive at the coffee chop and it seemed pretty packed given it was around rush hour. After waiting in line she ordered her double chocolate mocha and headed out to the tables only to find, they were all taken. Her face scrunched up slightly disappointed all outside seats were taken as well as inside. With a heavy sigh she walked around the shop trying to spot a friendly face she could share a table with. Her eyes fell upon a lone raven-haired studying by himself. She nodded and walked toward him and stopped by his side and lightly tapped him on the shoulder. “Hey there,” she started and brushed away a strand hair, “--would it be alright with you, if I sat here? You see...” She looked back at the crowded shop, “I need to study and you looked like a friendly face, and well --” In mid-sentence she stopped and stared at him

Her eyes studied him as if she recognized him from somewhere, “wait a minute, haven’t we met...before? Or maybe I--” It then clicked, “oh!! You! You’re that very talented swimmer! You come to community center often....right? I often life guard and it is such a treat to watch you! “ She clapped her hands and realized she was getting way too excited, “I--uh, oh, sorry. I just, you are very talented. I admire you...uhm, “ she paused, realizing she was babbling away to a stranger about her admiration for him, “I’m Aqua, you?” With a warm smile, she extended her hand out to him.

Kairi waited as patiently as she could manage for Aqua to tell her about how her life was going. She smiled as it seemed like Aqua was doing well which made her incredibly happy. Kairi didn’t really want to talk about all that happened with her but she knew there was no hiding anything from Aqua. She always knew when something was wrong.

As Aqua suggested them stopping at a cafe, Kairi’s own stomach growled. With a nervous laugh and a sheepish smile she nodded. “No it-” her protest was quickly shot down and she knew this was a fight she wasn’t going to win. “Alright,” she agreed laughing a little as Aqua grabbed her hand and they started walking to the cafe. Wait? Many areas? What did that even mean? “I’m warning you my life hasn’t been too exciting lately.”

No matter what, Aqua wanted to know what was up in her friend’s lives so she could get to know them better. It had been awhile since she spoke with Kairi, so she definitely wanted to know every detail she could from her. After all, she was a lovely and beautiful girl....did she not have a boyfriend? Or a crush at least? Or wait...a girlfriend? Either way, she saw Kairi as someone that deserved someone special in her life. Without much hesitation, she took Kairi’s hand and started to lead her toward the cafe. Aqua hummed a bit as she mentioned she wanted to know all areas of Kairi and grinned at her before letting go of her hand and spun. “I still wanna hear about your life! It’s been so long since we spoke!” She stopped and faced her, “surely you have a special someone  by now, no? Or least a crush, hm?” Her eyes glistened with curiosity and wonder. Hopefully she was not pushing her too much, but something made her feel like there was something there. If not, she was bluffing and something would come to light at least.

             kaori smiled. relief washing over her, knowing she wasn’t the only one who cared about this innocent stray cat. most would simply pass it up, kick it out of their way even. she knelled down, gently petting it’s head, as it drank. “yes, i’d have to say their my favorite animal actually.” 

It was such a relief that this young girl had such a kind and  caring heart. Aqua smiled at her, “is that so? I love them too, and I’ve actually been looking into finding a cat for my apartment....” She trailed off as her hand stroked its body. A thought crossed her mind to take this little guy in, but another part of her thought otherwise. “I wonder if he truly is a stray....cause I can’t imagine who’d abandon such a sweet and lovely creature.”

“Don’t worry about it.” Lapis meant it too. It wasn’t so much a problem as it was annoying. The rumors were just around when she worked at the Hot Springs. The place got pretty popular actually when the rumor was still alive but she had since moved on to have her shop set up with what she had saved up. Opening the shop up was a dream come true.

“It’s not really much of a bother. The name didn’t really stick for too long and besides, I like water and witches are cool. I didn’t really care for the rumor but it got pretty out of hand when people started circling me like sharks at work.”

“I know Aqua. Thank you, that’s very kind of you to say.”

When the umbrella opened up, they started the walk to the station. It wasn’t that long a walk but it was nice.

Aqua shook her head and bit her lip, still unpleased by all the rumors she was hearing and how Lapis took it so well. Part of her was upset, but same time she was pleased Lapis  could be the bigger person in all of this, and not let it get to her. Also, Lapis turned it around to make it positive for herself.

 “That doesn’t make it right though.” She gave a soft sigh and smiled warmly at her. “well, stay positive like that and you will do great. Heh, I like water and witches too.” She winked and ruffled the other’s hair lightly. “But if you run into any trouble, call me? I’ll give you my number when we are on the train, okay?” Again, her warm smile shone on her face. “It is no problem at all. Now, let us head over to Rosedale and see this shop of yours?” 

They soon reached the station, got their tickets and boarded the train. Aqua sat across from the other and smiled. “So, what else do you do in your free time?” Something to break the silence of the train and the rain, right?

           “ –huh.” she glanced up. “yes, he’s extremely adorable. makes me what kind of person would abandon such a cute cat.” smiling, she took the other girls hand. “yeah, it looks like he’s not getting enough to drink.” 

“Yes, I wonder that too.” She sighed and pulled out her thermos, placed the cap on the ground and poured some water from her water bottle into it. Her chin cupped into her hands as she watched the cat slowly approach and drink, “there you go.” Carefully, she stroked its back and smiled. “So you like cats, huh?”

Aqua walked past and stopped. “--Awh, yes he is cute, isn’t he?” She crouched down and reached her hand out. “Wanna grab some water for him?”

It was definitely impressive, Kisumi thought. He watched as his new friend glided towards him, perfectly able-bodies atop of her skates. His one other thought was of how it did not look easy and worried for his own sake. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Aqua to teach him well─ no, he didn’t trust himself to not completely fall on his face and make a fool of himself. Ah, well. It’d be fun either way. 

Kisumi flashed a grateful smile as the girl helped him lace up the skates. Albeit a bit embarrassing, he was happy for the help. There were too many holes and too long of strings, he’d have no idea where to even begin. As she finished, he looked down at the fancy knotting. He wiggled his toes a bit to test whether he could still move around comfortably while still being snug and nodded in confirmation when discovering that was indeed the case. “Thank you, Aqua! I would have never gotten that myself! Well, without spending all of our time on it, anyway!” he laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.

His laughter ceased when he realized the next step was getting up. Kisumi swallowed nervously, though her suggestions did ease up some nerves. He slowly stood, his knees wobbling as he did so. Immediately, Kisumi reached out and took her hand to prevent himself from falling. The close contact was nothing new, but the situation was rather embarrassing. One quick glance over his shoulder, though, made him all the more determined to do well. Sliding across the ice looked incredibly entertaining and fun, not to mention cool. 

“Well,” he started, “Hopefully falling won’t be the case!” another laugh, both out of amusement and nervousness. Her promise did ease him a bit. As he spoke, he slipped a bit and had to steady himself out. “Let’s stay by the wall, for good measures!” 

It did not take her long to tie up the other’s skates due to experience and practice. Once tied nicely, she stood back up balancing well upon her skates. “Heh, it’s no problem, really. It’s not easy for people who aren’t used to them.” To reassure him, she shone a bright and warm smile at him. As he stood up, wobbling she reached out and grabbed his arm to steady him, “easy easy there, take it easy. Don’t rush it.” To help him, she reached her hand out and held him even more steady. Her cheeks flushed and quickly she shook her head and lead him slowly toward the ice. With him laughing, she couldn’t help but laugh as well. Kisumi seemed to be a type of person where his laugh was contagious. Despite knowing him well, that much she could tell and sense from him. Aqua could also tell he was a kind and warm person and she hoped they would be able to create a long life friendship. Slowly, she let go of his hand to let him go on his own however, as soon as she did that, he slipped a bit. Her hand reached out to grab him, but fortunately he steadied himself. A weight was lifted off her chest and she laughed a bit. “Yeah, especially for someone who is not used to it.” She skated slowly next to him, away from the wall, and her hands behind her back. With a quick whip, she turned around and began to skate backwards.

Now it was just the two of them, skating together....in silence. Her brain wracked for topics to break the awkwardness. “So,” she started, “besides basketball, what do you like to do in your free time? And what are you going to school for, if I may ask?” They neared a curve and with ease, she let herself glide around and turned back to where Kisumi was to make sure he was alright.

He was just being himself; that one person that he had crafted by himself due to hatred and sadness in his past. He knew that it was only a matter of time before he had to tell people about his past, and about why he was this way, but for now he was enjoying the stress-free life that he was living, and he was here making other people happy, so what was so bad about being this way? Absolutely nothing! He had noticed that she was starting to accept his words more, which was pleasing to him. He was only speaking the truth, after all.

He spoke with a joking tone upon his lips, but in a non-mocking kind of way. “I wouldn’t say them to you if I didn’t mean it, so keep that in mind, alright?”

He still remained there, smiling towards the girl that was smiling towards him. He then listened to her speaking, and felt like she was just as nice of a person as he had originally thought. The way she was saying about him needing to accept his compliments as well caused his heart to skip a beat. Why should he? He probably wasn’t any of the above anyway. To make her happy though, he decided to agree to her words, holding them closer to his heart than what she probably thought.

“Alright… you have a deal. I’ll accept your compliments as well.” He then laughed at her reaction, still finding it ridiculously cute. “Cause I felt like it, and you’re cute when you do that.”

Did she just say you can be both manly and cute? How was that even possible?! You’re either one or the other man. A combination of those two would just be… weird. He tilted his head to the side as he listened to her, thinking that her way of thinking was a good way, but he just couldn’t understand it sometimes. He chuckled a little when she was finished, speaking to her once more.

“… I guess so? But I still don’t see how someone can be both manly and cute. It’s a little weird to think of in my head.”

He noticed that she had drifted off, but he paid no mind to it. There was probably a reason for it but he shouldn’t snoop his nose into business that was nothing to do with him. If she wanted him to know, she would tell him when she was ready right? No point pushing answers our of her. He patiently waited until she was ready to answer him before speaking to her again, giving her time to recover over whatever was going on within her head.

“Sure, I’m free now too. I don’t work until the late afternoon anyway, so I have all morning to spend with you~!” he then paused for a moment, thinking to himself what they could do before speaking to her again. “Well, I’m pretty easy too, so what would you like to do? Perhaps if we go through the things we like, we can find something that we both like doing and go and do that? How does that sound to you?”

Once again a flush sprinkled her cheeks when he complimented her once again. She opened her mouth to protest, but closed it once more. Given she just made a deal, there was no point in protesting. She bit her lip and smiled at him.  and gave a nervous laugh in reply to him calling her cute.  Her lips formed a frown as he he  protested against her calling him manly and cute. A sigh passed her lips and she shook her head. “I guess it is a matter of point of view and hard to explain.” Terra was one she called both manly and cute, and he too dejected the idea and was confused by its concept. But there was no way for her to truly explain it to him or anyone really. Warmth spread across her features, “just trust me on it, alright? You are and there’s nothing wrong at all with being cute at all and be manly at the same time. There are different ways to define what makes up a man, and cute can be included in that. Cute is not a bad thing, actually the opposite. Heh, it shows you have a soft side. That’s a good thing.” She blinked and waved her hand, embarrassed once again, “--ah sorry, I babbled a bit there.” Her eyes shifted away from the male, keeping her eyes off of him. It was not long before her embarrassment disappeared. He expressed that he was free and was pretty easy about where to go. A finger was brought to her chin as she pondered over places to go. “That sounds good, just where to go...? Hum~” she tapped her chin, “you like movies? Or the arcade? I’d suggest Figure Skating er, Ice Skating, but I am not so sure you’d be up for that.” 

She gave a hesitant laugh, “a lot of guys I know look down on it and think of it as too ‘girly’. Oh...! No-not that I think you think that! I just--I understand if you do not want to, that’s all I meant!” She waved her hands as she stammered and her eyes fell on the ground and she clutched her arm, “but those are a few suggestions I have~” Her eyes lit up once more. “Sorry I am not much help.”
