Anyone serious about operative witchcraft should be doing their comparative research with other traditions. This does not mean cultural appropriation, but respectfully learning from them to fill the gaps in practice and spellwork. We think a study of Quimbanda, of Exu and Pomba Gira can be of much benefit. A tradition with roots in Portuguese witchcraft as well as Congolese and Brazilian practices.  These are serious books, respected within the community and have helped many find their way to the tradition.
Available in paperback editions too, with a digital edition included gratis with any physical book. http://scarletimprint.com/books/

Portrait of Darrien Hunt as Mugen from Samurai Champloo, the character he was cosplaying as when he was shot in the back and killed by police. Mugen means infinite.

Gargoyles street art series in chronological order, exploring and interacting with local geographical spirits, or genius loci, of Philadelphia, Baltimore, and NYC. I think you can see the development of my magical technique here, from not-really-knowing-what-the-fuck-i’m-doing, to a more sophisticated process of inspiration via divination and communion with the spirits.

"vision of self-governance" oil and acrylic on paper, 16 x 20 inches • a portrait of slain #Peruvian activist and indigenous leader Edwin Chota flanked by the #Condor and #Jaguar and wrapped in the #Wiphala, the Andean people’s flag - symbols of a struggle for self governance and independence against deforestation, illegal logging companies and state backed private enterprises who are silencing the Amazonian people’s plight to protect the jungle, of which it is estimated that 40% is now in direct threat by industry. A loss of this natural regulator of carbon emissions would permanently change our environment for the worst • This piece is dedicated to his memory and to the conscience of all of us who live in the consumer societies that this illegal oil and mining most benefit from. #deforestation #EdwinChota #Peru #conservation #ClimateChange #COP20

Sketches from yesterday and today, of a creature/spirit thing I used to draw a lot more often. They can be anywhere from the size of a large pickup truck to the size of a city, and their breastplate splits open, and inside is darkness and stars.
