Ideas

Manoeuvrability of a quad copter and able to have interchangeable thrust props or jets so that the entire vehicle is not inoperable if one is damaged or requires servicing.

Cradles or pods interchangeable for passenger, military and environmental use such as fire fighting or indeed can be used for off world transport.

The engine or flight component can move its passenger pod to a location, disengage and attach to another pod quickly.

The cradle or pod can be moved via flight component by onboard crew such as current aircraft or remotely as military drones are today.

Grab component for attaching to pods can be used for removal or quick evacuation of items from an area.

If the engine/flight component becomes compromised during a flight, deployment of multiple parachutes can inflate. The pod or cradle should also be waterproof for ocean landing and a crash air cushion can be deployed beneath for softening a landing or floating.

The quad nature of the craft eliminates the need for a tail or rudder and the craft can potentially fly on only two propulsion units if necessary. The need for runways to take off and land are eliminated so they can be used on ship decks.

The manoeuvrable propulsion ‘dials’ will facilitate lift as well as rapid forward or reverse thrust and be moved independently to perform intricate and complex moves.

Propulsion units would go from basic quad to six and eight depending of need for manoeuvrability. More would be in a ring like saucer.
