This is an R.E.M. blog. *** All you hear is time stand still in travel, and feel such peace and absolute, the stillness still that doesn't end, but slowly drifts into sleep. The stars are the greatest thing you've ever seen, and they're there for you, for you alone, you are the everything. *** "So, we went from being an Athens band to being a Georgia band to being a Southern band to being an American band from the East Coast to being an American band and now we're kind of an international phenomenon." - Michael Stipe

Hello everyone! It has been a very long time, but as you may know, today is the 36th anniversary of R.E.M.’s first gig ever at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church! I always think of my fellow R.E.M. fans on this day and my followers on this blog.
So my question for you all, in honour of 36 years of R.E.M., is how did you discover R.E.M.? I’d love to hear some of your stories, as I’m sure there are several generations of fans on here now. Who introduced them to you, or how did you find them? When? Have you ever gone to any shows, and if so, when, and which one was your favourite? Tell me all about it! It’s hard to forget discovering such an incredible band and today is the perfect day to share our stories.

Every now and then (by which I mean all the time) a picture of R.E.M. will come up in which they all look so good that I just stop what I’m doing for a minute and marvel at their very existence. This is one of those pictures, as you can see.

Hello everyone! It’s been a while, but I’m officially back, and have for you compiled a playlist of R.E.M. songs perfect for summer!
These songs represent all the good aspects of summer: the exploration (Discoverer, Little America), the formation of new memories (Time After Time), the haze (Summer Turns to High), the evenings spent at lakes (Nightswimming) and in backyards (Gardening at Night) and at faraway places (The Flowers of Guatemala). I think you’ll find they’ll accompany everything you do this summer beautifully. It is R.E.M., after all!
1. Discoverer // 2. Bandwagon // 3. You Are The Everything // 4. Green Grow The Rushes // 5. New Test Leper // 6. Ages of You // 7. World Leader Pretend // 8. The Flowers of Guatemala // 9. Summer Turns to High // 10. Zither // 11. Love is All Around // 12. Electrolite // 13. Burning Down // 14. Little America // 15. Gardening at Night // 16. Time After Time (AnnElise) // 17. Nightswimming

Hello R.E.M./dontgobacktorockville fans! I realized today that it has been more than a month since I updated this blog, and I just wanted you to know that I am not gone! I am only extremely busy with schoolwork and, surprisingly, life, right now. I promise I will be back here to post again and respond to your lovely messages (on this blog and my personal blog) when all this work has subsided in June, and I hope to maybe come back briefly in the meantime. But, yes, I miss you all, see you soon!
