They travel for far longer than Tobirama expects them to, the moon is well into the sky by the time the column slows to stop. Tobirama climbs off of his mount as soon as he sees someone else leave theirs. He stays on the edge of activity, careful to stay out of everyones way as the clan circles in on themselves with practiced ease. Those with trained chakra signatures surround those without, and tents smaller than the ones that had been torn down yesterday are pitched as though their spots are assigned. Komako waves for him to follow only once a few small cooking fires have been stoked across the camp, and a few figures split off alongside him as they follow her to a safe enough distance away to practice ninjutsu. Tobirama weaves and casts a net of sensory chakra over them before they converge on their clan heir and frowns to himself at his findings. Already, he can see a problem.

Uzumaki Friends

Izuna hands him one just before lunch the next day. His brother slides into his office like a cat trying to squeeze between a crack in a door. His eyes are wide and wild and he gestures at Madara helplessly for a full second before he remembers how to talk. "Have you been in Tobirama's office today?" His voice is high and a little breathless. "No…" Madara says slowly. He glances around at the various reports scattered on his desk. Some are meant to be passed off to the Senju but none are urgent enough for him to have made the trip yet. "Should I have?"

The Necromancer's apprentice

He tries to pay very close attention to the path that they take in case he has to remember it later. They walk up the wide main path of the Senju compound, then turn and go up a narrow staircase that loops back on itself twice before letting out on another path that's pushed up right against the garden wall of the biggest house that he's seen so far. Tobirama glances back at him as they follow that path past the house and into the stand of trees behind. Kagami nearly trips over his own feet, terrified he's done something wrong already.

Touka Saves Izuna

The kunoichi that had caught him has been very thorough in securing him. The amount of rope and wire on him leaves Izuna barely able to move. The most he can do is brace himself as every jump jolts his hip against her shoulders and brings him steadily closer to Senju territory. He'd already tried a few genjutsu, but the woman had broken each one almost before it they could even form. "I wouldn't keep that up." The first thing she's said to him since hefting him over he shoulders. "You're not going to like trying to break a genjutsu of mine without your eyes."

Everything Stays/Everyone Lives

He cannot see him, but Tobirama can feel Izuna's chakra flare in surprise behind him. His knees hit the rocky shoreline next to him half a beat later and with far less grace than Tobirama would normally expect from him. He moves jerkily as he secures their target at the wrist, as though afraid to accidentally touch Tobirama. Ridiculous. Tobirama scoffs and checks his Izuna's work after him since he's not in a state to be trusted right now. The Uchiha visibly flinches at the sound, turns away shame-faced. One of his hands reaches up to rub at his eyes as though the sharingan aren't famed for perfect clarity.

Haku time travels

Asking to be directed towards the biggest city in the region gets people pointing Haku back the way he came, and when he asks where he can find the nearest telephone -- or radio tower, or anything, he's met with blank stares. "I think there's a few telegram offices in central fire country." The man that Haku has persuaded into bringing him across the strait tells him. There is no engine on his boat -- Haku has yet to see one of those, either. "You must be from real far off if you're needing one of those. You'd save a heap of money just hiring someone to go on foot, most places."

Desert Spring

If they've lived this long without the ability to summon their own water… If they rely on their lords for even the basics of survival… Tobirama is aware that what he is agreeing to is no small thing. And yet -- he owes Komako, if not her clan, a sort of life debt. And this way, at least he has a clear idea of what they want from him. "Fine." He says, and leaves it at that. For some strange reason, Komako can't seem to stop smiling for the rest of the afternoon.

Year of the OTP is officially back for 2025 with a new set of prompts!

we've switched some of the prompt categories around in an effort to make the event more inclusive of all kinds of fanworks. we've also included song prompts this year! the playlist is on spotify here.

we want to give a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the last event - it grew so much larger than we ever expected and it's truly amazing how you all took our last set of prompts and made so many wonderful things. keep it up!

The Brothers patricide

Tobirama does not have the time for that. His brother's behavior will just have to be another variable to work around. Tobirama has been given a rare boon, courtesy of Izuna Uchiha. A surprise turn in battle had the Uchiha landing a blow to a weaker spot in his armor, denting the plate and breaking two ribs. The Uchiha will have broken his own foot for it, which will be slow to heal, and ribs are notoriously easy to rebreak even with chakra to help speed up the process. And so Tobirama has the uncommon chance to stay off of the mission roster for at least a month.

Hanahaki Adjacent

The polar bear chuffs, and immediately extends one paw to hook around Tobirama's waist and reel him in close enough to start grooming his hair with her tongue. Her chakra immediately begins to twine with his as well, his coils immediately relaxing from the strain. She does not allow him to move until she is satisfied with the front of his head, and even then only allows him to move just enough to turn around so that she can reach the back side of his hair. "You don't summon us enough, cub." She chastises. "Look at the state you're in."

Pokemon AU

Tobirama's teeth dig into his lower lip as he tries to make himself think of something else, but it comes anyways, and the resentment he knows he's not meant to feel along with it. Hashirama had spoken with all of them -- Tobirama had agreed --  gym challenges are becoming more legitimate with every passing year. If his brother gets famous enough for winning them, then father will be forced to acknowledge them too, and then there will be no excuse for war anymore. It is a good plan, Tobirama still believes that, and there was no choice but for Hashirama to travel to achieve it and thus to leave them behind.

In the Corner of Another Room

Some part of him had expected the shinobi to abandon their mask and come seeking shelter as a lost traveler, but haven't. Even the wife of the inn's owner who has greeted him at the door recognizes him as such, judging by the tense line of her shoulders. "I don't want to frighten you or your guests with my face." They're saying -- their voice is different, now. Softer and lower than it was when they were speaking to Izuna outside. It sounds like they're playing at having some sort of disfigurement so that there is some sort of plausible deniability. it could even be true, it's not as though it's uncommon in their line of work.

Hands and Tongues

He has spoken exactly once since waking up -- He hadn't been aware that the Senju clan head was watching him wake until the man had stepped out from the shadows that the afternoon sun stretched into his room. Hashirama had watched him, standing in the orange glow of the sun like some sort of night terror as Izuna tried and failed to move his own body. Then the man approached and kneeled by his futon, and Izuna had finally mustered the strength to raise a hand, only for it to be caught and held gently, like he was some sort of porcelain doll and not a shinobi trying to fight for his life.

HOHOH

Hikaku resists the urge to say something to try and salvage Madara's pride and stands to go retrieve a pitcher of water instead-- the trial of pulling him off of Tobirama and getting him to actually drink from it would have ruined that anyways. When Tobirama tries to wriggle himself out from under him, Madara first tries to wrap his arms around Tobirama's waist, and when Tobirama continues to push him away, all three of them end up in a messy wrestling match that  the alpha is only distracted from enough to lose when Tobirama growls, "Come on and go to bed."

Concubine Hikaku

Their compound is wide open for the Senju to enter and leave as they please. The group of four that slowly make their way between the run down houses are a common enough sight; Tobirama Senju being among them is not. What little activity there was slows and freezes in a wave as news of his presence spreads. Hikaku hears of it through whispers, from the ones here to get a meager meal of rice and burdock, through the kitchen, to the store room where Hikaku sits trying to determine how much  further their supplies can stretch.

Tobirama buys a courtesan

The madame of the brothel is free to manage it how she pleases, so long as the owner does not tell her otherwise. She would likely sell to anyone offering to pay the full price on Yugiri's contract when she's paid off nearly half it already -- but Minori would never refuse a man with that name. Tobirama may mean nothing to her, but Senju means shinobi, and no one would risk offending a ninja if they could help it. Still, to buy out her contract when they've only spoken for one evening… Only someone very wealthy or very crazy would do that. The man probably makes his money through killing; he's likely to be both.

Oops! Arranged Marriage

Izuna only seems to get more antsy the closer they get to the meeting point, eyes darting over to him and away every time Hikaku meets them. As they come to the foot of the cliff they need to climb to reach where they're going, Izuna finally seems to give in to whatever he's thinking. He sidles up next to Hikaku and catches him by the elbow before he can make the first jump. "Hey, listen…" He starts softly. "I know you're going to try and talk to him, so just… Let me share some memories of what he's like, alright?"

The Necromancer's apprentice

When they're through the gates he turns to Hikaku-san with a grin and says, "Come with me, I'll introduce you to Yoko-san, she knows the details better than I do." Kagami didn't think it was possible for his heart to pound any harder, but it does. He looks helplessly at Hikaku-san, but the only thing he has to offer Kagami as he leaves him alone with the scariest man in the country is a weak smile and a "Good luck, Kagami-kun." Kagami is so frightened he thinks he might activate his sharingan for the first time, if only he were able.
