At the request of the Emperor, sixteen have been brought from their home across the Dominicus system as the best and brightest of their generation to unravel the secrets of Lyctorhood. More then something a meagre as a competition, the trials intend to separate those worthy of the glory and those who are doomed to failure by planting the successful at the hand of God. But Lyctorhood is an unknown challenge, something that must be unraveled and understood, picked apart until the very core is exposed. That alone would be a near impossible task but something much graver awaits them, having been biding its time just for them...
