maybe to a human it wouldn't have been as bad considering he likely hadn't even drank as much as she was smelling. at least she hoped he hadn't. the strong scent of alcohol had her hastily stepping backwards as if to escape it, only to stop abruptly when she realized how she was acting.

the countess tried her best to tolerate it, hands folding politely behind her back as she adjusted her posture and cleared her throat.

❝ my apologies. i'm not really accustomed to that. if you would, please just keep a heavy distance. that would be appreciated. ❞ considering who she was dealing with she should've been more mindful.

except a select few moments. including this one. lydia was often good at diplomacy and talking her way out of things, but not this time. it wasn't really going to get them anywhere and that had become blatantly obvious with how it only made the situation worse. the woman huffed, arms falling slack to her sides as she turned her attention back to him.

🕸 — the countess held the rubber fake in her hand, stifling an amused smile as she tried to look stern towards the child before her. It had given her a small jolt due to its size. mostly because she wasn't sure if she wasn't expecting the presence of such a large creature. when she had approached to release it far away from where they were settled, it was nothing more than a replica. he was already a menace in the making, it seemed. she could almost hear the scolding rosaline would give her when she pulled similar antics upon first being taken in. that alone caused her to relent, finally grinning and appearing to be more entertained than annoyed.

!! I genuinely like to think that Lydia is the type of person that when the chance presents itself, she'll go all out for Halloween. I think, even ironically as a vampire now, Lydia's favorite holiday had always been Halloween because it's a chance to be creative and to be someone else for a night instead of yourself. She'd go all out and try to make the costume as accurate and cool as possible. I don't think she'd go with the jokingly stereotypical 'dress as a vampire as a vampire'. I think her go-to costumes would be from her time period which is the 1900's. She'd think it was funny to dress absurdly like the dramatized versions of what they wore or even something from a completely different time period like Victorian era and I'd believe she's likely dressed up as a fairy or something akin to one a few times for the hell of it. I don't think she'd go for the super spooky costumes, because she's already spooky 80% of the time on her own and doesn't need a costume for that. She's pale she can act like she's an old Victorian ghost and scare people.

I also feel like she's probably dressed up as Crepsley at least once just to be a nuisance to him.
