Some say “crowded.” Others say “overstimulating.” I say “need more shelves.”

2022 updates: Married (third time - unofficial New York elopement in mid-October 2021, official back yard elopement end of October 2021, actual ceremony April 2022. Four if you include the Vietnamese tea ceremony.). Wedding was amazing, held at a botanical garden event center, caterer knew exactly when I needed scotch and, somehow, exactly how I take it. Two surgeries within five days two weeks ago, and a third scheduled for the end of July, all of which has been just…so fun. Though the 10ish pound weight loss has been lovely regardless of how many people tell me I’m skinny. Decent raise at work covers all the random car expenses. All my landscaping plans ruined by said surgeries and the pre and post op. Michelle and I have spent more time together than we have in awhile thanks to her summer schedule change, my shift schedule change, and all the missed work with the medical issues (bless working for a company with a fantastic PTO/benefits package). Planning a last vacation to the Hamptons on Long Island this fall before we hunker down and save like mad to move to a significantly bluer state. My mom got married (again, not touching that). My dad had a medical emergency storm chasing in another state, but we got to explore the second largest canyon in the US as a result. My sister and her husband moved to Bangkok for her work. We adopted an outdoor stray who is now desperately in love with us. Bachelor party on South Padre involved a border patrol checkpoint that DEFINITELY was not a point of concern. 10-year high school reunion the day after the second surgery was a great time even if I couldn’t drink. Bagged a limited print, customized autographed copy of a new release form a favorite author on import from the UK for about $10 more than the regular edition off the shelf at 02:00 while hammered in a different state. Replaced (read “upgraded”) that last faucet and learned I can do electrical work even if I’m terrified of being electrocuted. Accidentally grew sunflowers. So in summary…2022 has been insane. It’s June, but it’s been a year and a half of events, and I’m feeling every multiplied second. I get to fall asleep happy though, and that is a special thing.

2022 so far:
Shutterfly can’t replace our misprinted save the date envelopes, I developed a (likely benign, blood work looking good!) cyst on my left arm, Michelle got COVID (somehow I didn’t, with three different negative tests), one faucet sprung a leak, one faucet I broke trying to clean, with those leading to one faucet swap, one faucet replacement, one supply line repair, another faucet replacement awaiting the new unit…and it’s still been a lovely year thanks to all the time I’ve gotten to spend with Michelle working from home while she’s on COVID leave. And, of course, those nice, fuzzy home owner feelings that come with upgrading and repairing something you sometimes cannot believe is actually yours. It’s only been twelve days. Please send Dr. Pepper.

My therapist asked me what I thought my abusive ex was up to nowadays, and apparently “the fuck do I know, and the fuck do I care?” Is the right answer
