we’re depressed mainly bc of trauma, violence, oppression, material insecurity, and lack of control over the work at which we spend most of our lives, but the institutions for whom that system is profitable are like, “actually it’s bc you eat sugar!”

also if u guys think that “kids dont understand the jokes so who cares if i make them” about sexual innuendos and suggestive art on miiverse ur super wrong? my 12 year old sister plays splatoon and she once was paired with someone who had a sexual innuendo name and after that she quit the game and didnt play for the rest of the day because it upset her so bad. and im sure the same has happened with other kids. so yeah. if youre an adult making adult jokes on miiverse, literally shame on you because youre pushing kids out of a space created for them.
and even if they dont understand, their parents could be watching them play and see the inappropriate joke, and not let them play anymore. so im being 100% serious on this, do NOT bring your gross sex jokes into splatoon because youre making it unsafe for kids to play a game that was made for them. thanks and goodbye.

Tip: This Valentine’s Day, don’t be romantic. Be Romantic! Recite Lord Byron on the edge of a barren cliff! Feel the gusts of the thunderstorm blow through your hair as you sob! Become a reclusive poet who trusts no one and is only seen at 2 am, wandering half-dressed through the streets and muttering in Old High German! Drown your lonely heart in laudanum and die at age 34 of tuberculosis, martyrdom in a small and ill-fated revolution, or wasting away from a disease that makes you look wan but poetic! Forget “forever alone”: You’ll always have your haunting past, your wasted ambitions, and the melancholy of a life unlived to keep you company!

I hate when people are like “the world’s a cruel place, just get used to it.” That’s a terrible mentality! Never accept cruelty and brutality and unhappiness as the norm. The world is a cruel place, so get out there and make it a little less so.

Saw this slam poem on youtube called “To The Transphobic Cis White Gay Men At Pride” and one of the lines was “I can see why [Pride] is your favorite holiday / So you can […] remind yourself that you were once oppressed” and I just. Wow. The sheer fucking level of ignorance required to think that somehow because gay people are allowed to get married in the United States and a handful of other countries worldwide we’re suddenly the ones with power and privilege. Y’know, not like homophobic hate crimes haven’t seen an increase in the first half of this year alone.

California Topiaries by Marc Alcock
In his captivating series, California Topiaries, British photographer Marc Alcock documents the relationship between houses, plants and trees in the Californian suburbs. In some cases foliage is considered an architectural statement, while in others it seems to devour the very building it surrounds.
