If at first you don’t succeed….Duck Dodgers pitch cover - This second attempt to sell Duck Dodgers as a television show in Oct. 1998, had Lola Bunny joining the crew, Sparky being reduced to a smaller role with Dodgers’ rival Star Johnson. John P. McCann was in charge of revamping this version of the show. He asked me and Tony Cervone to adapt the artwork to reflect this new direction.

"Wile! My man! My compadre, what's the word?" she says as she gives a deuces sign. (have a Lo being a cute lil' troll)
@dcllyste
“The word is genius! Pure genius!” Wile E. let out a chuckle to himself, not even having turned around to face the other as his attention was completely absorbed by his latest contraption. It seemed like a bucket with propellers on it and quite a few cans of paint sitting beside it. He was still tinkering with it apparently.

needful things sentence starters / accepting !
@dcllyste sent ; “go ahead, you can laugh; it was meant as a joke.” (a self depreciating one probably sdfghj)
According to fans? This would be the part where Honey would feel smug. Glad to see the woman who ‘replaced’ her, who took ‘everything’ from her, making such a self-deprecating joke about herself. This woman who ‘copied’ her getting her just desserts. According to fans this would likely be the time Honey would throw her head back and laugh. After all - she’s supposed to be a bitch, right?
Unfortunately, for those fans, Honey is nothing like that.
Instead the joke told in ‘self hatred’ by Lola is met with the slightest narrowing of eyes. Met instead by the softening of grip on the doorknob. She turns herself to face the other. Expression unreadable as she takes Lola into her sights. Yes, Lola was the reason she was no longer working. Yes, Lola brought about changes that left Honey behind. But that didn’t mean Lola was an ‘equal’ with the others. Honey was no fool. She’s seen the reactions, the fanart of Lola, seen the reviews. Lola suffered a lot also. Sexual remarks, being viewed as an object to stare at, while the studio often fumbled and were unsure of how to handle her character.
Honey understood. She’s gone through the same things. She told the same jokes about herself now from time to time. And Honey knew Lola noticed it also. She may try and radiate a level of confidence to ‘protect’ herself but Honey knew. She damn well knew it and saw it in herself. There had always been somewhat a level of awkwardness between them. Not by choice, of course, but by the situation. Of course it’s awkward when a new girl comes onto the scene and pretty much sweeps your man and career away in front of the cameras. It’s awkward when you’re compared to her. Honey’s heard it before. ‘Thank god they made Lola to replace Bugs’ lookalike Honey,’ people would claim. And Honey would fume in rage at them. She wasn’t always Bugs in a bowtie. It had been a shitty design choice the studio did. She’s made countless appearances in various designs. Pink, yellow, grey. Hair, no hair, blonde, white-haired, orange haired, etc.
People just forgot her more ‘nicer’ looks. They remembered the bad ones.
A shake of the head to replace those thoughts. Her gaze focusing on the other toon still standing there. Running the joke over multiple times in her head. Lola wasn’t some invincible creature un-phased by things. She had thoughts and feelings also. Lola heard those remarks, remarks from the original animators who ‘despised’ her, saw how others likely just eyed her for her looks.
Life truly isn’t fair when you’re a looney ‘woman’ it seemed.
Regardless Honey responds. Herself stepping closer and, before Lola could move away, Honey flings arms tightly around the other rabbit. Pulling her in close as she rests chin atop her head. Honey understood. She understood far too well the stigmas attached. She hates herself at times also. But she’ll be damned if she’s going to let Lola suffer alone. If there’s anyone who understands? It was her. And Honey wasn’t about to let Lola down the path of self-hatred Honey had been on since the early nineties.
“ It’s okay, Lo’. Ya’ don’t need to joke or hide it from me. “
