A side-blog for my doll obsession. I'm a newbie to the doll scene, and I have an itty-bitty collection to call my own. Consider this my planning blog to put my thoughts in place while I dream of expanding my little empire. You can find more of my ideas on my Pintrest boards.

This is what I’ve been (very VERY slowly) working on in my spare time. It’s a 1:6 scale craft board for my Monster High dolls, that will eventually go in a fully-built dollhouse craft room, inspired by this one made by MyFroggyStuff.
The board itself is a burlap textured piece of scrapbook paper, and the wood bits are all stained popsicle sticks that I attempted to stain a light brown, but it ended up very orange. It still looks nice, I think.
I just made the pencils and brushes today! They’re just cut and painted toothpicks that I coated with a matte Mod Podge to prevent from chipping. I’m very proud of myself for getting that eraser color JUST RIGHT. (Red, white, and a smidgen of a light blue did the trick.) The toothpicks were cheap (it was a dollar for a box of 800), and a little shitty (the paint made them flake a bit), but they’re so tiny it doesn’t really matter too much.
The ribbon spool was really fun to make, though it took me a while to find ribbon that damn thin. (I found 1$ spools at my local Walmart, and I have a ton to spare!)
The jars are nail art glitter jars that I got from the dollar store! I found a few nail art kits at my local store (they don’t carry them often, so I have to go back and keep an eye out for them), and I kept some of the glitter in the jars to switch out on the shelves. I also have some “paint” jars, some jars with beads, and some empty ones that I’m not sure what I’m going to do with just yet.
I used this method by MyFroggyStuff to make the map mug:
youtube
I used thicker paper for mine, and I covered it with a piece of scrapbook paper instead of just doing a sharpie design. I also coated it in a glossy Mod Podge to give it the “glazed ceramic” look.
What I want to add next is:
- “Inspiration” bits that I can print out and “pin” to the board (I have some tiny beads (ALSO FROM THE DOLLAR STORE) that I can use for “pins”.
- Small swatches of fabric (also “pinned”)
- Maybe some “fairy lights” that I can string across the top of the board??? I would have to figure out how to make those though...

The Miniatures of Joshua Smith
Joshua Smith is a miniaturist and former stencil artist based in Norwood, South Australia. With a career spanning 17 years he has showcased his work in London, Paris, Berlin, New York, Japan and all over Australia in over 100 exhibitions. Formerly a self taught stencil artist Josh refocused his career to establishing Espionage Gallery, an Art Gallery based in Adelaide, South Australia showcasing both emerging and well established local, interstate and international artists. For 4 years he showcased over 600 artists from over 20 countries.
In 2015 after the closure of Espionage Gallery Josh refocused back onto his own career this time as a self taught miniaturist. His miniature works primarily focus on the often overlooked aspects of the urban environment such as grime, rust, decay to discarded cigarettes and graffiti perfectly recreated in 1:20 scale miniatures.

After a two years hiatus from the doll hobby, this one doll has inspired me again, and I am so very grateful, because fun size is fun!
Here is my 41cm Iman (Dollshe Erica Snow Fashion 26F in Pale Tan). She is inspired, of course, by the living goddess Iman Abdulmajid, who I’ve adored all my life. My little Iman is also quite a fashionista, and this is only the first of her many future looks.
Since these mini beauties are still relatively new, and finding fitting clothes and accessories is a bit of a guesswork, here is what I’ve used for her so far: faceup and mohair wig by me, glass eyes are Dollmore 8mm flatbacks ( had to file off the edges to make them a better fit), top by me, jeans are TTYA slim MSD fit, shoes are from ebay - a Tonner American Model size.

Alright monster high tag I’m going to explain you about racial coding because some of you still can’t understand how a cartoon character can be a monster and have a “human race” to go along with it.
So first off we do not live in a bubble. Nothing created exists in a bubble. It is all influenced by the surrounding culture. Black children are going to look at Honey and say “hey, she has hair like mine” and relate to that. Mexican children will look at Skelita and recognize the sugar skull and be drawn to her. Things do not exists in a bubble.
Now for racial coding. Racial coding is when you take a non-human character and code them as a specific type of race, or ethnicity. Now, sometimes racial coding can be racist. Examples:
All these characters are very obviously supposed to represent a certain race even thought they re non-human. The problem is they are represented racistly.
Now on for some good examples!
Luigi is a car, we all know he is Italian.
Flow is a car, we can still tell she’s black.
Eduardo is a imaginary friend, we still know he’s latin@
Wilt is an imaginary friend, we can still tell he’s black
Jinafire is a dragon, we all know she’s Chinese
Marisol is a Maricoxi, she is still obviously South American & Latin@ (tbh she reads as Peruvian specifically to me)
Hello Kitty is a cat, because she is created in Japan and is often displayed as participating in Japanese culture we know she’s Japanese.
So even though Honey Swamp is a monster.
She still reads.
as black.
And if you can’t see that you are a racist.
Black folk get shit for their natural hair all the time. When you, as any race other than black, straighten Honey’s hair you are part of the problem and are racist.
I hope everyone learned a thing :)
P.S. I will not be responding to racist trying to defend themselves.

So...I’ve been working on this desk for a few days now, and while I’m confident in the structure of the desk, I’m not confident in its size. It’s actually just tall enough to put Frankie’s legs under, and I wanted to have room for a keyboard drawer and such, so I’m going to have to re-do it. I also have some ideas on how to make that keyboard drawer moveable, so that’ll be fun to figure out as well. I love making interactive pieces!
Another issue I had was I was supposed to wrap the pieces before gluing them together and I spaced on that, leading to all that bare cardboard. :(
However, I have learned quite a bit from this project, and I’m looking forward to redoing this one! I’ll keep this older one for a smaller doll and for reference.
I’ll also have to maybe remake the small pink box to the side as well, but I think I’ll make it easier on myself and just re-use it. Besides, it’s the perfect size for the little pads of construction paper and scrapbook paper I made beforehand!
This is also part of a much larger project that I’m making based off of My Froggy Stuff’s Pokemon room in a box video. I’m going to make a ghost-type room instead of just a generic Pokemon room, and I’m already planning for the bed and fabric stuff. I don’t have all the materials, but I’m super excited to get started with the project nonetheless.

Whoops, I posted this to the wrong blog. XD
I found these little plastic skateboards at my local dollar store. They’re really crap quality (I might get some of the cooler ones from Walmart instead), but they’re still pretty good for props. I had a hard time getting Frankie to balance on it, but a little poster tac on the bottom of her shoes and some careful positioning worked wonders.
Also, I’m working on that desk in the background. I might post pictures when I’m finished with it. (I’m making it out of recycled paperboard and cardboard!)
