ATTENTION ALL EMMA/JEAN ARTISTS!!!
I've found a peak pic if no one else has redrawn it yet.
Tumblr media
It's Lilith and Eve by Yuri Klapouh, I just found out it existed and it's so them. I don't even ship them that much but like, it's so them. It's okay if no one draws it, but like is anyone else seeing the vision???

Saw some people talking about the 'grand unifying theory' that Tom Brevoort has for Scott and Jean, and since I'm thinking about it I've got a yap about it...
My main thought is 'meh'. And that's kinda it. In some ways it's fun, because being almost cosmically tied together in some ways is fun, soul-bonding is just a fun shipping thing. On the other hand? In some ways it makes it almost less romantic.
Because just thinking about all the bullshit Scott and Jean have been through; dying over and over, relationship troubles, all the messed up missions and shenanigans, etc. These two having to choose to be together every single time out of sheer love for the other just feels nicer to me in some ways.
At the same time though, maybe it's just because I'm not super married to any ship with Scott (all are equally good imo, and even then I ship him with my OC so I love that one the most... They're totally canon, I'm not delusional).
I like the idea that with Scott and Jean (at least my interpretation), they do have a very deep love for each other. They care about the other, and neither wants the other to get hurt. And yet... I don't know if love is enough in their relationship. You can love someone so wholly and completely, but that love means nothing if it's the only thing that keeps you together. I think that, just because of a lot of the narrative, both of them inevitably end up in very different places in life. And that doesn't mean they can't work together, but I don't know if either could set aside their incredibly important missions in life to do so. I think that's also a bittersweet message; that sometimes love isn't enough to keep people together, and that's okay.
And they stay pals and co-parent their weird children together and maybe go on vacation together.

Crying, sobbing, thinking about Sol and Erik to the song Die Your Daughter by Susannah Joffe. Because like... Grrr I need to rant about this.
Tumblr media
Sol isn't really his daughter (mostly because they're non-binary), but Erik did spend years watching them grow up, and even though Erik is still kinda a fucked up guy, he's no monster and my version forms a bigger emotional attachment than he realizes.
Because like, the beginning is so them... I mostly like it from Erik's perspective, just the idea of getting worn down over time into emotionally bonding with them, the passage of time in general (I also think the getting older line could work from Sol's perspective, because Erik *is* getting older, and to see someone get older and one day you will have to 'pawn them off' to death is hard). But the idea of 'sticking around if you will' and Sol inevitably leaving to join the X-Men.
I really like the idea I have in my mind for the main part though. BecauseI think Erik or Sol have a number of pictures of each other. I think Sol would be more likely. I think he'd mention, like in one of the few times he's emotionally vulnerable, that he also doesn't really remember the faces of his relatives (because Sol also is slowly forgetting what their real family looked like). So Sol starts taking pictures of things and places and each other so neither can forget...
Anyways, the 'I will die your daughter' bit is just a bunch of like photos and snapshots in their lives and progressively seeing their smiles growing and fading together and stuff... Like progressively from when Sol is a little guy, to an adult with Erik, then when they leave him, and when he tries to kill them for leaving him (and they're kinda smiling up at him) and then right before they die (they die at least once in the storyline in my brain), and then him at their funeral...
I'm just so mentally ill about them... And I can't help but cry over them.

Time for some Scott headcanons! Because I really want to talk about him.
Really loves gundams and building miniatures. It's a nice, mostly relaxing hobby for him. And also related to like, planes and other various modes of transportation
Which brings me to classic cars and planes, because he will talk someone's ear off about them. The only real presents he's gotten from Charles is like a nice bright red Porsche (since my version happens in the 80s, it's like an Aston Martin Vantage, and idk about cars but that looks like a car he'd like)
He reads, but it's like... Books that are to make him better as a leader and make him think, to hone strategy or give him a mental workout. It's both a mix of fun, and also striving to be better.
I also think he trains a lot. Like, more than he should, and more than most X-Men. Even when he leaves the X-Men for whatever reason, he stays on top of his exercise routine. (Which is technically canon because of a panel of him coming back to the X-Men, it's with Moira manning the Danger Room and he passes pretty flawlessly)
Another thing that's more canon than headcanon, but he's the best hand to hand combatant on the team (Storm is a very close second)
Scott starts getting gray hairs by like, twenty-five. He gets a good amount of gray by thirty. Thank goodness for Summers genetics, because if not then he'd be bald like Charles.
He can cook better than Jean can. He may slightly under season things if he has no recipe, but it's serviceable food. Pretty good on the grill though, takes it seriously like the average dad stereotype does.
Okay! That's all, idk if most of these were pretty basic or obvious, but I had to talk about my silly a little. [])

BIG OPINION MOMENT
I think Piotr should get his overalls back. Get him back to his roots as a communist farm boy. It's good for him. Let him run around in a field. Maybe put a sickle and hammer on there for good measure.

I was wondering since I've seen a lot of people headcanon Warren as a trans man, but I wanna see what everyone else thinks. Me? I say screw the rules, and Warren is actually a trans woman named Miquella now. But that's just me.
Oh, if you wanna expand on this, I'd love to hear your reasoning or if you have a secret fifth option.

Watched a video about female martyrs and divine pain, and it's so very Jean coded to me. To be the martyr who sacrificed herself for her friends, having to suffer during the Dark Phoenix arc and must sacrifice herself to save everyone, just having to die over and over (sacrificed for the narrative mayhaps). I know the last one doesn't matter, it's comics, everyone always dies... But come on!!!!
Honestly, I don't know how much it's explored or how many people talk about it, but I haven't seen many people tie in Jean's stuff and the Phoenix to more religious themes. If you have Jean and religion thoughts, let me know though! Or if it's come up in certain comics before.

Had thoughts on Maddie and Scott and, what if, and hear me out, their marriage slowly dies because both are entrapped in gender norms orchestrated by Sinister because that is EXACTLY what some old ass eugenicist would do.
Personally? I think Scott is kinda a bit fucked up from being a child soldier since he was fifteen and a leader for that time too (like almost a decade by the time he and Maddie get married), and he probably hates whatever job he has because it's Alaska, and while his grandparents are around I'm sure he misses the team and his old life, and I just don't think the stereotypical patriarchal duties of an 80s man are things that he enjoys doing and upholding (he'd like to be at home with his son...)
Maddie, sadly, has probably given up her sick ass pilot job to be a stay at home mom and truthfully Maddie was probably made to be a perfect wife figure to Scott through sinister mind control, and who knows how much of herself is his meddling, and how much of that meddling goes against her wishes, ingrained into her by some evil shitbag?
I don't know, I'm probably not explaining it well, but there's something here I feel. Also, I hate blaming either of them for their marriage dissolving.

May make a post or write a short fic about Sol's backstory, but I'll be gone all week and I'm not sure which one I'd feel up for more when away from my PC.

Thinking about something someone said (it's actually @rei-ismyname, a great blog, I highly recommend) and in the recent issue of One World Under Doom (chapter five/issue five), they mention that despite three X-Men being with other heroes discussing Doom's actions, they say like, nothing. That moment, and a recent chat with my friend made me think of how sad it is that X-Men, despite the politics being my favorite part of X-Men (honestly, I don't think you can separate the two), it will never truly say much of anything. At least, nothing with real teeth, and bite to it. Maybe it's because I'm a RAGING leftist, but it feels like it will never say as much as I think it should. It's why I don't even have that much hope of enjoying the upcoming movies.
Now I'm not saying movies or media should say much of anything, or that you can make real political change through art or anything. I just think that the X-Men will forever be neutered of real potential (in my eyes of course, art is subjective) because it's tied to the corporate titan that Disney, and Marvel by proxy, are. Corporations will never have any real leftist politics thrown in, which I think is integral to the series. They're supposed to be freedom fighters, people fighting for their rights, fighting against oppressors. I don't think the X-Men have ever, overall gone far enough; but now and in the future especially, a capitalist corp will never let anyone fight against any oppressor. It goes against their bottom line to have any sort of opinion. That's actually a big complaint I heard about the latest Captain America movie; it's a political thriller with little politics.
Anyways, that was a long rant that I hope was coherent. It just makes me sad... [](
