Luna doesn’t have very many pictures from his childhood, but the ones he does have he’s printed out.
It’s different, seeing himself as a child Reploid. He almost can’t believe they’re the same machine - the Luna in the picture is such a bright, happy looking boy with wide eyes. He has no idea how little time he has left before the work comes to his door to collect his mother.
But in that frozen moment, his mother is holding him and the world is such an open place to be part of. Her laughter isn’t just a faint memory he has to struggle to source from a deep-down databank, she was still smiling.
The picture stays on his desk as a reminder that as daunting as the work was, it was worthy work to do and that there was a future ahead with no damnable virus to infest it.
The work waited. He’d see to it.

hey, doctor luna! a friend of mine is a daycare bot and his son is "graduating" soon. what does that mean?
Oh! Well first off, congratulations to your friend - graduations are a very big deal for us former "baby bots" as it were! If your friend is a caretaker, he's probably feeling a lot of emotions right now. Complicated ones!
Graduation is the official term for when daycare children (the child-type models of our line) officially age into new adult bodies and start lives as the model they grew into. In short, your friend's son is officially all grown up now and will be getting a new adult body instead of his child model body! I'll place a cut here so as to be polite, since this might get rather long.
The process is fairly simple - as child models grow, their processes are - for lack of a better term - age gated. As we are intended to model human cognition/human growth cycles, the child models register our growth based on that and use that to determine when our bodies should be upgraded. Aka, after we've learned enough to be equivalent to an x-amount-of-years old child, we can have our bodies upgraded to match that accordingly. Typically we receive 3 total upgrades equivalent to human growth stages: start as toddler types, upgrade to child, upgrade to teenager. The last upgrade to adult is special, and we refer to that as Graduation.
When a child-type graduates, they are assigned an adult body equivalent to the field they show the most aptitude for. This is discovered by monitoring the child-type's progress as they go, and this is combined with the results of a final exam. Once that is complete, they get a final aptitude ranking and that is used to determine what type of adult body and assignment the child will receive.
For example, after... after my mother was infected, I spent a great deal of time ensuring I studied the medical field as hard as I could to ensure I would graduate into a medical type Reploid and find a cure for the virus. However, due to my hobbies and personality I also showed a good bit of aptitude for combat as well! So when I took my final exam, I could have been easily assigned a soldier-type body and from there to the Maverick Hunters proper. Luckily, I studied hard enough that my medical aptitude was stronger!
Thus, when I graduated, I was given a medical type body, put through medical school and assigned to my residency at St. Rock's. I'm told Surgical Heron actually requested to take me under his wing back then... a fact I am eternally grateful for.
[I should try to reach out to him soon, it feels like ages since I last spoke to him...]
Moving on - once we complete the exams and receive our final aptitude ranks, we gather up for a graduation ceremony. I'll be honest, I think this is more for the caretaker units than us. Most of us don't grow together after all, so this is likely just a celebratory "you finished growing and can now go be a normal reploid" type thing. Though admittedly it still felt a little special to be acknowledged and meet other Daycare children... after that, we're swapped into our adult bodies and given our next steps. For me, that was medical school!
Anyway, in summary:
Graduation is when child-type Daycare Reploids gain their adult bodies.
The type of adult we graduate into is determined by factors including childhood hobbies and personality that add up into aptitude (preference/ability for) various fields.
We also take a final exam as part of this to help solidify our aptitude for certain fields.
After the exam is complete, we receive a final aptitude ranking that determines what our final body type will be and what field we'll end up in.
We then attend our graduation ceremony to celebrate our impeding adulthood, and get swapped into our adult bodies.
Not too complicated, I hope! Thank you for your question. I hope that helped clarify things a little for you.

Doc, Reds came with a slappy lappy of his own and now i can't find it.
... So that is why my medical lab is trashed. I'd just assumed whatever was trying to ransack our base to get to the morgue had done it.
Also I feel I should warn you it may have a gun now. Unless those shots I heard discharging were just Lady practicing...
EDIT: Nope! It definitely has a gun. Related, can you come by and catch that thing?

Doc, Help. The slappy lappy is back and trying to kill me! I think it downloaded those Saw movies!
YOU DIDN'T DISMANTLE IT?! RHODES!
Actually, I think the real question is how you gave it sentience in the first place. On one hand I am consistently amazed at your engineering prowess on the other I am equally consistently terrified of it...
Anyway. Can you lure it to the medbay? I have a hammer and a desire to practice my aim.

Log 001 - Hello, World
In the event my log files end up becoming important in the future - heaven forbid I end up dying to a Maverick while on this journey and the work lies unfinished - I figured it would be for the best if I perhaps introduced myself.
Hello, I am Doctor Luna. I’ve left a transcript below for you.
All systems seem to be functioning... there we go. Audio Log zero-zero-one, Doctor Luna. Time, nine AM. [ahem] Hello there. I am Doctor Luna of St. Rock's Medical Center in Servia City. As I was recently accepted into an independent Maverick Hunting group, I thought it might be a good idea to start a running log of my assignments... and any progress I make towards curing the Maverick virus. Neither path will be easy, nor will either be brief... but perhaps by logging my thoughts I can keep a clear mind. Let's see... well, I suppose I should start with where /I/ start! My model of Reploid was created in pairs consisting of an "adult" caretaker and their "child" partner. My mother Stella was the caretaker model between us, and as far as we were concerned we were mother and son as much as any other. I've not met many other models from our line but the ones I have met often ended up considering each other parent and child as well, so I'm inclined to say that is typical behavior. Moving on - I had a very standard childhood for about four years. I grew, I learned, I may as well have been a human child. My happiest memories came from that time... and then the Maverick Virus stole even that from us. To this day I don't know how or why, but my mother contracted the virus and went Maverick shortly after. It's only by the grace of the Chameleon Circuit that she didn't /kill/ any of her charges or me. As an aside, the Chameleon Circuit is a security feature installed in the caretaker half of our model. In overwhelming danger, the unit is sent into an emergency shutdown to disguise them as a human corpse... thus making them a less attractive target to an attacker, and thus, they would be ignored long enough to send a distress signal or get help. It works better against human attackers, I'm afraid. Ironically enough, my mother's chameleon circuit detected /herself/ as a threat due to the virus and the circuit shut her down. She's been locked in that state ever since - still infected, but it hasn't progressed and she is unable to hurt anyone. In human terms, she's in a coma, and I have her at a private Hunter medical facility for observation. I have... essentially lost her for now. But that's why I've been working so hard, you see. I intend to cure the virus. To that end, I threw myself into my studies and when my graduation into an adult body came, I had the aptitude to become a medical Reploid with a focus on virology and viral transmission. I went through medical school and began my residency at St. Rock's under another Reploid who lost his wife and child to the virus, Surgical Heron. The man was my mentor, a fellow virologist, equally devoted to the search for the cure and... ultimately, looking back, he was my father when my mother could no longer be my mother. I haven't seen the old bird in some time. And the reports I'm getting back are less than ideal... [sigh] Light's bones, I hope he's okay. [ahem] Right, well. That about sums it up. Progress on the cure project is steady, or at least, my research is promising. I expect better results soon. I report to the rest of my team tomorrow for my first assignment. Wish me luck. Luna, out!

Dr Luna, what's your favorite non starting weapon so far~?
Ah, hello over there!
So far... while I've gotten a fair bit of mileage out of the hammer, I think Trypanophobia has won out. The needles are very easy to throw and feel a bit like darts in my hand, and it feels like it's easier to do precise damage with them even nonlethally.
Not to mention managing to knock out Ant's scope from what, fifty meters? I won't lie, I felt unbelievably cool when I pulled that off. (Almost as cool as Lady, even!)

Luna’s current character sheet at Level 3.
- Luna’s medical grade reploid armor is reinforced, so he gets harm reduction. -- As of Level 3, Luna’s armor has gained improved medical shielding. - Luna has a motorcycle! However, it hasn’t come up in game yet. - Luna’s standard weapons are a standard buster [the 9mm] and a modified laser scalpel [the big knife]. All of his weaponry is repurposed medical equipment! - HOWEVER, the huge sword is actually a saber and it can’t be drawn unless Luna is in Berserk mode. Not that we’ve figured out why it’s like that... -- Bloom has now upgraded his saber to do 4 harm! - The party collectively gained the perk Through Thick and Thin - if any of us would be killed by an attack, any of the others can intervene without rolling to take the blow themself. - Luna gained the Devastating move from the Chosen Playbook and does 1 extra harm
