Guys, please listen to the Marvel's Wastelanders: Doom and Marvel's Wastelanders podcasts (in that order) if you ship Reed and Doom. They have the most amazing, CANNON lines of dialogue, including but not limited to:

Doom: I traversed the earth on the Surfer's gleaming board, and everything I saw was mine to command. From Washington to Atlantis to Moscow to Beijing. Every government trembled before me! Every army awaited my commands! I was unconquerable! Valeria: Until Dad conquered you. Doom: On a technicality!

Doom: I see a lot of your father in you. Valeria: I was worried you were going to say I reminded you of you. Doom: Oh, you are stern, like me. Yet you are compassionate and weak like your father. Valeria: Shut up. Doom: But only one of us could bequeath you that confidence.

Valeria: You had ultimate power for ten whole days until my father tricked you into losing it. And all you had to show for it were a few demolished buildings and some freshly blasted craters. Ten days to remake the world, but the status quo was a safe as a baby in its mother's arms. Because the power cosmic was in your useless hands. Because all you knew how to do was threaten and preen and perform for Reed Richards.

Valeria: Alright. I'll get you some clothes that fit your standard. Johnny (not Storm): Is that...? Valeria: Yeah. It's my dad's spare uniform. Doom: Absolutely not! Valeria: It's either this or you walk naked. Doom: *defeated sputtering* (two minutes later) Doom: (Looking in mirror) What has become of me? Valeria: You've never looked better!

Doom: Or perhaps your heart still bleeds for the common people, like a good Richards. Valeria: Stop using my name as a swear word! Doom: But it is the most profane expression I know. Valeria: Because it was my father's. When are you going to get over him? Doom: I mustn't. Ever!

Klaue: So this is how it ends, huh? Doom: Fortunately, yes. (pulls out weapon) Klaue: (Laughs) Seriously? First you wear Reed Richards' suit, and now you're using his Coma Cannon? Oh Victor, I knew you were obsessed with Mr. Fantastic, but this is too much!

Teenage Valeria (flashback, in Latveria): Tell me about you...and my father. Younger Doom: You know all about that. Valeria: No, I don't! I know, like, the broad strokes. Tell me some details. Tell me about teenaged Reed Richards and teenaged Victor von Doom. Doom: We were not teenagers. It wasn't like that. Valeria: You met in college, right? Freshman year? Doom: Well, Reed was a teenager. I was a man. I had already achieved more than Reed Richards could have ever dreamed! Valeria: But you were both, like, freshmen, in college, at the same time. And basically the same age. Doom: I was invited to attend Empire State University, requested. Richards merely applied. Valeria: *disappointed sigh* There was nothing you liked about him? Nothing at all? Doom: He was arrogant. I could see that right away. Rude. Never knew his place. A little, puffed-up peasant. And always with his rowdy, uncouth friend, Grimm. Valeria: No, we're not talking about Ben. We're talking about you and my father. Doom: I don't see why. And be careful! Watch what you're doing with that circuitry. It's delicate. Valeria: It's fine. See? The power source is properly connected. I flip the switch, and.... Doom: Well done, Valeria. Ah, but you have more to do before it's fully functional. Valeria: My father. Reed. Tell me what you thought of him. Really. Doom: He had...some gifts. Some intellect. Perception. Insight. His mind is nimble enough. *contemplative, seemingly forgetting Valeria is there* Honestly, he didn't even really understand the gifts he had. He had this way, this extremely frustrating way, of seeing a problem, not understanding what the problem was, not knowing why it was wrong or how to fix it, exactly, but he could simply look at something and see what was wrong. Looking at an experiment, or a machine, and seeing how it was flawed. And then, the audacity to just say it. To me, his superior. Valeria: Wait...you were equals, then. Doom: *oddly resigned* ....No, we were never equals. And never will be. *gaining strength* You know this. You could be studying with him right now. You could be with your mother, your brother, your family, safe and sound in your tower back in New York City. You, Valeria Megan Richards, you could be one of them. A Fantastic Four, an *exaggerated, sarcastic* Avenger. Or whatever other teams they have now. Valeria: (Laughs) Doom: You could do anything with your time. But you came here. To Latveria. To me. To learn. To study. To know the things I know. Clearly, you know I have things to teach you that Reed Richards never could! How the universe truly works, how to achieve your full potential, how to bend this world to your will. How to remake it in your image. That is why you sought me out. That is why you are here to learn. Valeria: And Reed never taught you anything? Gave you anything? Doom: Reed only took things from me. Valeria: What about me? He let me come here. Doom: That is a quirk of fate. Valeria: It's not fate that I'm here. And it's not just for your knowledge that I'm here, Victor. Doom: What? Valeria: It's because of my father that I'm here. Doom: Your...father? Valeria: You and him...you never want to see how alike you are. How much you overlap. Sure, you were only roommates for a second in college, but...you've spent your entire lives together. Fighting. Scheming. Planning. And... collaborating. Working. Sharing. Entwined together. (Chuckles) I know you have changed my father. He denies it, too. Avoids it. But...I can tell that you did. Doom: *skeptical* Mm-hmm. Valeria: Not always in the best ways, but.... you brought something out of him. Something no one else could have. Not even my mother. I came here to show you that he brings something out in you. Doom: *dismissive scoff* Valeria: (talking over him, sternly) I'm here to remind you that in life, as in physics, when two particles interact, they are both changed. Forever. Doom: Hmm. We have wasted enough time with.... idle chatter. Now, activate the device.

I cannot believe that this is actually cannon and written by professional, official Marvel writers. Seriously, if you ship these two or are even just interested in their platonic dynamic, listen to these podcasts. You won't be disappointed.

Best case– BEST CASE– scenario is the FF movie casts a Romani actor for Doom and DOESN’T. MAKE. HIM. A. VILLAIN. for at least two more movies.

the M C U has been perpetuating anti-Romani racism and erasure for years with Wanda and Pietro. IF the people making the Fantastic Four films want to change that pattern, the can’t do it by making the M C U’s first real Romani character into a villain. It’s not fair, and to be completely honest, American movie audiences are not intelligent or open-minded enough to accept Doctor Doom as a sympathetic antagonist at face value. We gotta build up to that shit. 

I want a full movie with Victor as Reed’s respected peer, rival, and friend. I want to see the white*, American characters learning about where Victor comes from, processing their own ignorance, and actually acting as allies. I want to see Victor’s ideals and integrity. I want to see his intelligence and ambition and know that these qualities were born from a desire for justice, and the need to protect his people. And THEN, in the next movie, you can start building up to his heel-turn. 

Popular culture does so much to dehumanize Romani people and erase the truth of our existence. You have to show white, American audiences how to see us as human beings. It know it sounds didactic, but it’s just the truth.
