I actually really like the thing when you're starting to get the hang of a new language, enough to understand and say simple sentences but you gotta get creative to get more complex thoughts across, like a puzzle. I remember a time in the restortation school when a classmate who wasn't natively finnish and did her best anyway dropped something and sighed, telling me "every day is monday this week. I have had four mondays this week." And I understood.
I don't think I speak much of spanish anymore, but in the nursing school training period I did there, I did manage to get by with making weird Tarzan sentences. I got a nosebleed at some point and startled another nurse. Not knowing the words "humidity" or "stress", I managed to string together: "This is ok. It is hot, it is cold, I have a bad day, I am sad, I have blood. This is normal for me." And she understood.
And sometimes you just say things weird, but it's better than not saying it. One time, I was stuck in a narrow hallway behind someone walking really slowly with a walker, and he apologised for being in the way. I was not in any hurry, but didn't know the spanish word for "hurry", but I did know enough words to try to circumvent it by borrowing the english "I have all the time in the world."
The man burst into one of those cackling old man laughters that they do when something in this world still manages to surprise them. He had to be somewhere between 70 and a 100 years old, and I guess if there was one thing he wasn't expecting to hear today, it would be a random blond vaguely baltic-looking fuck casually announce that he is the sole owner and keeper of the very concept of time.

Emergency Commissions - $30 flat color and $50 full color
Hi all, so given recent events I was considering not closing comms forever already, but then I woke up today to this:
And I now need to open commissions again to fix this asap.
Rules:
One or two characters
Fandom or OC okay
Any pairing/ship okay
Payment up front via PayPal upon confirmation of commission
Message me or reply here asking me to message you directly. You also message me on Discord at boltplum#3142
Flat color: $30
Full color: $50
If you want to help a little but don't want art or something else, this is my Ko-fi.
I know times are tough and up in the air for a lot of us right now, so I understand if commissioning isn't possible. Sharing does help, and any commissions or Ko-fis help tremendously!
Examples: (Top is flat color, bottom is full color)

Hello! I'd like to bring your attention to an urgent fundraiser. Abdulrahim is a 19 year old currently trying to raise funds for himself and his family, who are displaced in Gaza. They are enduring truly unimaginable circumstances.
Abdulrahim's father was kidnapped by the Israeli military and his whereabouts and condition are completely unknown. Abdulrahim is now responsible for looking after his family, consisting of his mother and three younger siblings. They have no income, and no way to reliably procure food and water for themselves due to the exorbitant prices.
In Abdulrahim's own words: "I now bear the responsibility of supporting my family in the most unimaginable conditions. We were forced to flee our home and now live in a flimsy tent that doesn’t protect us from the harsh cold of winter or the scorching heat of summer. Every day is a battle to find food and water to keep my family alive."
They have not received any donations yet. I humbly implore you to consider donating even $5 AUD (only $3.46 USD) to provide material help to this family in need. Abdulrahim is so young to be shouldering this immense burden and responsibility alone. I hope you will help him by reblogging this post and donating if it is within your means.
This campaign has been vetted. My friend Mohamed @mo-angm who also lives in Gaza and who helps run @gaza-evacuation-funds knows Abdulrahim personally, and sent me this campaign. I hope we can all work together to help Abdulrahim and his family as much as we can!

i think a lot of white queer/trans people need to hear that "breaking gender norms" isnt just wearing a dress while masc or dying your hair. its also unlearning the beauty standards that impose ideals of white beauty and attractiveness on non-white folks. yes you have a nose ring but i just heard you tell your black friend with meticulously cared for natural hair "you'd just look so nice with straight hair is all im saying..." why does your blog fetishizing i mean uh. appreciating trans women only feature skinny white women who pass. when societal gender norms are so inextricably tied to whiteness and emulating whiteness it is not enough to simply change your aesthetic. you need to defy the gender norms in your own head too.

The thing about Cottagecore is that is a fetishized aesthetic of country life, divorced from labor and idealized by a primarily urban audience with a backward looking ethos of tradition. They are not prepared for the stresses of a rural life: farming; harvesting; tapping pumpkins to ensure none of them have been replaced with flesh; losing out on income by having to use one of your pigs in a blood sacrifice to paint protective sigils over your doors and windows; checking cracks and chimneys for the flesh-vines of the Pumpkin Lord; having to decide, before the Growth is complete, whether that's really your tradwife or an amassment of vines, leaves, and blood in the shape of your tradwife; ignoring their desperate pleas that "I'm me! No! No!" as you burn them alive, realizing too late you picked wrong; and the exploitative corporate nature of commercial farming in 2024. All seen through a deeply colonial lens, of course
