hey guys 👋🏾. let me cook for a second ok 😭. i’ve been pondering a concept and it is this:

in 2025, can we normalize asking people “are you okay” instead of “what’s wrong/what’s wrong with you?” 

look i know you mean well ! and i know what you’re trying to say! It just comes off soooo horribly and there are much better alternatives. 

because think about it…: the phrase “what’s wrong” subconsciously implies that there is something wrong with how the person you are trying to check on is displaying their own emotions. which is FALSE. all emotions are valid, even the not so pretty, non- aesthetically pleasing, NOTICEABLE ones.

i feel like as a society we mostly know this by now but still partake in certain insensitivities such as this phrase. 

so by asking that, the unspoken part (at least to me) is: “hey your mask is down, and you need to put it back up because it’s obvious something is wrong with you.”

or that’s what the person is telling themselves now that it’s come to their attention that their emotions are showing.

“ARE YOU OKAY” is probably my favorite alternative. 

not only is it gentle and respectful, but it is an IMMEDIATE REQUEST OF STATUS into someone’s well being; a simple yes or no that can even assist the inquirer into what their next question should be. 

if the person replies “no”?  thennn you can ask what’s wrong and boom: you have a meaningful conversation on your hands!

“what's wrong” is just too open-ended and frankly too easy to lie in response, which can be dangerous if that person is actually mentally spiralng.

i think you will 1000% get a more truthful answer if you at least start with “are you okay.”

but yeah, i just wanted to share that because i had a hard moment myself over the holidays. my face also always gives it away (cancer rising) and the constant asking of what’s wrong was triggeringg tf out of me😭🤦🏾‍♀️ so i really had to break it down for myself… so hopefully this helps someone else! 🤍

gemini: awe tricky, tricky 🫤. it depends on how much they don't like you. if it's really serious, they will simply refuse to be around you. doesn't matter what the occasion is and they will explain that to whoever needs/wants to know. if it's not that serious, sureeee they'll kick it with you but you can tell they're not really listening/appreciating anything you're saying, just making conversation because it's so easy to them 😭. definitely not laughing at your jokes. if they think you're capable of change, will eventually lay out what you did or said that made them not like you.

virgo: classic virgo face of disgust 😭. will probably silent treatment you, even if you're in a group of people. and you better not stutter or say anything illogical, they will take pleasure in watching you make a fool of yourself. will definitely be reading you for filth later with their friends (consider yourself lucky you're not there to hear that conversation ) but I've seen them keep it pretty classy in the moment. but, if you're in a group or social setting they will do the bare minimum. for example, let someone know that's your seat if you get up for a second. but don't expect much else. :)

- speaking of virgos, a lot of times they can be way more intuitive than some pisces placements! and vice versa, i’ve seen some pisces placements be kind of cold and super logical like you would expect from a virgo.
