FACE-OFF: Briar and Tristan vs. Tryman
BRIAR: Briar notices that her plan wasn't working, her bade just slipping off of the tentacles as they pulled at her arms. She tried to steady her breathing by taking a big gulp of air and looking over in the direction of Tryman or Tristan to see how they were getting on with their tentacles, unable to see anything she closed her own eyes, trying to use her other senses to help her. She heard water splashing around her body and tried to remain still, holding her breath and she was dragged beneath the water surface for a moment. She heard splashing to her right, but nothing to her left as the sounds traveled more clearly and louder through the water. She attempted to resurface and keep her body still as she though of what to do, the pain increasing where the tentacles jabbed into her arms. She took the blade, and sliced a chunk of material from her top off, grabbing a piece of beef jerky inside of it before cutting her own palm to smear the bundle with ehr own blood. She threw the small package away from her, hoping to lure the creature away from her as it made it's way to a more readily available source of food before she evaluates how to get herself out of the situation. She remains still to draw attention away from herself, praying silently that the tentacles would swarm around the new disturbance in the pool.
Tryman: The icy water assured Tryman he was still alive. Slowly he took in deep breaths as his face went beneath the water. Luckily, he would always come back up. His eyes were closed tight and his body limp as can be. He felt lost in a trance but he was merely trying to outsmart a sea creature. He listened and could hear the other two Tributes thrashing in the water. Sometimes he would even feel a spray of water hit his face because of their splashing. After all this he felt something odd; the tentacles had loosened their grip around his waist and ankles! Immediately. his brain surged and shut down every muscle. It seemed the only thing moving was his heart, beating anxiously. This was it. This was his chance to survive. If he was lucky the beast would lose interest in him and possibly let him go. Deep inside his brain, though, he prepared a plan to ward off the annoying creatures picking at his feet.
TRISTAN: He took a deep breath of air, relieved to have rid his face of the suckers. However, it was not long before the suckers relocated, planting themselves onto his shoulder. Tristan winced, and closed his eyes tightly. He needed to focus; his eyes were too covered in blood, besides, was there really any point in keeping his eyes open? The pitch black was something he was used to by now and keeping his eyes open would only strain him even more. Loud slashes could be heard and Tristan prayed that Briar was okay. With no other ideas, Tristan gave one last attempt to wriggle from the tentacle's grasp. He saw no other way to escape. There would be no point in trying to remove the suckers from his shoulder, they would probably just plant themselves somewhere else, causing even more pain... He could hear faint splashes, although he was unsure of the exact direction it was coming from. Tristan found it soothing in a way, the noise of rushing water below him was the only thing reassuring him that he was still conscious.

FACE-OFF: Briar and Tristan vs. Tryman
BRAIR: Briar gasps as the tentacle contracts on her chest and she calls out for Tristan again when she hears a horrific feral sound of pain coming from the tentacle. She freezes in fear for a moment, ceasing her struggle as the creature thrashes in agony when she feels a stinging on her chest, crying out in discomfort she aims to slice the tentacle in a more precise fashion, carving the knife downwards in an attempt to slice through the fleshy appendage. She tries to drag the blade down the tentacle length ways instead of trying to sever a chunk of the tentacle off with the hope to cause it to recoil in pain or shred through a nerve. "Tristan?!" She calls out again, at the very least hoping that Tryman was stuck with them as well...
Tryman: His arm was now free but the tentacles remained around his waist and his ankles. Sure enough he felt a stinging against his skin. No doubt he was now being poisoned. Tryman let his body fall limp. Not even the nipping at his toes was making his muscles tense up. He closed his eyes and went completely motionless and relaxed in the slithery tentacles grasp. He listened carefully as the girl struggled furiously and screamed the boy's name. The boy was Tristan. Tryman's brain captured each sound and analyzed it carefully. Behind the splashing and screams of the girl, Tryman was able to make out another struggling figure which had to be Tristan. At this point Tryman didn't know what else to do. Surely the beast would kill all three of them and that would be it. The boy from 3 simply laid in complete serenity. The tentacles were almost like a baby's cradle rocking him to sleep. Only the sleep he was going into was permanent. He thought of his little brother, and his mother, and his father and he waited. Tryman's fate was now up to the Capitol. A perfect lesson meant for all of Panem.
TRISTAN: Tristan winced as the suckers began to dig into his skin. He placed one of the blades into his pocket. Tristan then took the blade in both hands and attempted to pry the suckers from his face, putting his whole strength into getting the suckers off of his face. He heard Briar's calling his name, desperate to call back to her and make sure she was safe, however, the thought of opening his mouth and attempting to reply to her seemed too dangerous, causing him to keep his mouth shut. Besides, he figured that the suckers on his face would have muffled out any sound he could have made.

FACE-OFF: Briar and Tristan vs. Tryman
CAPITOL: You are all roughly up to your thighs in freezing water, your boots sticking in what feels like mud. As you each attempt to run, you feel something slither around your legs and suddenly you are each thrown back into the water. Tryman, something has curled around your waist, ankles and right arm. Briar, thin tentacles are wrapped around your chest, arms and left knee. Tristan, what appears to be a long stretch of skin with large suckers has planted over your face and wrapped around your right ankle. You are all swept off your feet and are laying in the freezing water as the tentacles try to pull you out to the center of the lake. Briar, it is your turn.
BRIAR: Briar slashes at the tentacles slithering around her limbs and chest. Attempting to free herself as adrenaline kicks in. She focuses solely on the tentacles, trying to dislodge them from herself so that she can make a quick escape. "Tristan!?" She yells, trying to see if he's in danger or not.
Tryman: Tryman thought he could get away until he found himself constrained. Constrained around his legs, waist, and arm. Although his mind was flashing and his veins were pumping with adrenaline he remained completely calm. He had that much control over his body. He didn't waste his time looking for a way out because it was pitch black. He closed his eyes and used his senses to maneuver. He listened as the girl Tribute struggled and fought against the beast. Tryman pulled his captured arm up to his face and sank his teeth deep into the squishy arm. He felt with his lips to see if the arm was thin enough to rip off completely. Being a carnivore paid off! He locked his jaw and ripped his face away, tearing the watery blubber apart.
TRISTAN: Tristan's eyes widened as the suckers came up and attached itself on his face, keeping his hands steady, he placed his hand in his pocket and took out a match. He striked the match against the box before jabbing the fire onto the tentacles.

FACE-OFF: Briar and Tristan vs. Tryman
Briar: Briar sways as the ground tilts and stumbles towards the lake. She yelps as she dives at Tryman, trying to take him out with her. "Tristan!" She yells as she crashes into Tryman, shoving forward with all her might. She acts quickly because the ground shifting sends her in the direction of Tryman meaning that as she pushes forward, she uses the earthquake momentum to send her forcefully forward into the other tribute (Tryman) As she collides with him, she slahses her blades wildly, still falling forward with him as she slashes and stabs at Tryman with her blades, trying to slice away at his flech in a brutal way. She uses the momentum of her pushing forward to swing the blades into him, cutting through the air deftly before cutting through him giving minimal chances to react as the ground moved abruptly.
Tryman: After diving into the darkness, Tryman stepped back a few more feet to make distance from the delusional "love couple". Suddenly, the earth tilted and he stammered to keep himself upright. He heard the girl scream what sounded like the word Tristan and he looked over. She jumped down at the lake and flailed her knives about at nothing like a complete moron. She looked like a fish flopping around for water. Was she really in that much of a panic to not realize that her opponent had left the vicinity? Tryman decided it wasn't worth it so he continued to step away from the boy and girl. They were too incompetent of their own actions to even focus for a second. They had clearly lost their sense of thought considering the boy's backpack was still on fire. Tryman wondered if the other Tributes were starting to lose it like these two had. He made sure he was completely concealed in his battle ground of darkness. Being out of sight was the best move.
CAPITOL: Though initially out of range, Briar dives at Tryman and manages to scrape his arm with one of her blades. The ground continues to tilt, however, sending all three tributes to the shore of the lake, making it almost impossible to stay on their feet. It stays at an impossibly steep angle. Tristan, it is your turn.
Tristan: Tristan grabs Briar in as they slide into the lake and attempts to get them as far away from the earthquake. Not caring about Tryman or any of the other tributes at that moment in time.

FACE-OFF: Briar and Tristan vs. Tryman
Tryman: The tension snapped like a dry tree branch. Before the girl could even touch Tryman, his brain went haywire. Shock sped through his nerves at light speed. Even though he had adapted to the darkness, light was still a great weapon. In a matter of milliseconds, Tryman calculated everything down to when his next breath would take place. Quickly, his brain computed and he flexed his legs. As the girl leaped towards him he braced his leverage on his tail bone and shot his arms up towards her own to grab them. His reflexes played out each move like a graceful dance routine. As she got closer to his body he grabbed her forearms and locked his fingers as tight as he could around them to prevent any knife wounds. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. Perhaps they weren't the ones moving slowly. It was his brain that was moving too quickly. He waited for the precise moment to make his move; a fraction of a second it would take to go through with the defense. She continued through the air right towards his body. He braced his feet up in the air and made direct contact with her stomach. Using her own attack to his advantage, he rolled backwards onto his back and let her own momentum carry her over him. At the last second he pushed with all his leg strength and added extra momentum to the girl's. He shoved his feet into her stomach and sent her right over his head and onto her back. In the process, he flipped over himself but he quickly jumped to his feet and backed away from the girl to show he was not going to attack. He couldn't risk the boy coming after him too. "Stop!" He remained calm and kept his voice low just in case there were any other Tributes nearby. "I have no weapons okay!" He flashed open his jacket to prove his case. "I'm not going to attack either of you."
CAPITOL: Due to reflex scores (which can be found on the Capitol page) and Briar's hesitation, Tryman is able to react quickly. He manages to use what little force carried Briar to flip her over, but her slingshot blades make contact as she goes. One slashes through the sleeve of his left arm leaving a semi deep gash, the other digs into his right shoulder. The blades dig into Briar's hands as well, leaving gashes along her palms. Tristan, it is your turn.
TRISTAN: Tristan sees Tryman flip over and a fit of rage overcomes him. Blades at the ready, Tristan lunges at Tryman as soon as Briar is air borne, attempting to slash Tryman's face and chest with the blades.

FACE-OFF: Briar and Tristan vs. Tryman
BRIAR: Briar feels her body collide with another form on the right side and she shrieks, stumbling slightly. Jamming her feet on the floor, she attempts to shift her weight into the person, attempting to shove them to the floor or simply away from herself. Her hands find the blade on her belt and she draws them quickly in an offensive stance. She notices that the heat behind them is gone and thinks that whatever chased them a moment ago, was just drawing her and Tristan to another lot of tributes.
Tryman: Instantly, Tryman collided with the two Tributes. A small flame still lived on the boys backpack which faintly lit the area. All three of them nearly toppled to the ground. Tryman felt himself being pushed; he loosened his legs and fell right on his butt. The sound of metal knives charged his brain forward into his next move. He panted heavily and looked up at the boy and girl. He covered his face like a coward and whimpered "No, wait! Don't attack!" He closed his eyes and waited for the tension to lower. "I-I'm sorry! I was just running from the f-flames and you two came out of no where! It's so d-dark!" He could barely get words out over his deep breathing.
TRISTAN: Tristan scrambled to his feet, his flaming bag still slung across his shoulders. He yanked the bag from his arms and threw it on the ground swiftly before pulling his own knives from his belt. He took a defensive position, slightly taken aback by the tribute's words. "I- Erm..." Tristan said, not knowing quite what to say, "What's your name?" He asked, dropping his guard. However, he noticed that Briar had not lowered her weapons.

The foul stench had still not left the two and Tristan felt the enemy gaining on them. The two pushed forward, attempting to escape their pursuer.
Tristan sped up, feeling the heat against his back as the two continues down the tunnel, towards the sounds of the waterfall in the near distance.
If they lured whatever it was towards the water, the heat would not burn their skin.
Suddenly, Tristan became conscious of the other tributes in the arena. He had almost forgot that their were others within the arena; not just him and Briar... It had seemed like weeks maybe even months since they had come into contact with anyone, despite the fact that it was only a mere couple of days. He wondered where they were now, if anything was happening to them. Tristan could hardly remember who was left.
The thought of other Tributes made Tristan a little nervous, they were bound to run into someone sooner or later and he was determined that whenever that may be, he and Briar would be the ones to come out alive. He took out the knife from his belt and gripped it tightly in his hand.

Tristan turned his head away from Briar, the sickly sweet smell was growing stronger, it now smelt of burning. As the cave began to vibrate around them, Tristan strained his ears for any other sounds of disturbance Footsteps echoed through the cavern and his heart began to pound. Was it a tribute or something else? Tristan thought as his fingers traced the side of the cavern for guidance. Maybe they were injured, he hoped, tightening his grip around the blade in his belt.
"C'mon we have to get out of here. Now!" Tristan grabbed the canister and shoved it into his bag, zipping the bag shut and slung it over his shoulder. He helped Briar up and they began running as far away from the sound of crashing footsteps.

Rest || Tristan and Briar
Tristan woke Briar up after his turn on watch. The area they had slept in seemed safe enough, despite the sickly odour. "How you feeling?" he asked, noting his own improved health. He was no longer dizzy and there was only a minor discomfort in his stomach that remained. His ankle was also feeling much better, although he was certain a nasty bruise was forming.
"I think its time we ate," he said, reaching for the red bag next to him. He took out a slice of beef jerky for himself and handed another to Briar. He then took out the canister of water and took a sip. The water was slightly warm but still it refreshed his dry throat. Passing the canister to Briar, he watched her take a drink before smiling over at her.
If only I had met her on the outside. Things could have been different, he thought sadly, taking a bite out of the tough jerky.
