So after some thinking I decided to move blogs to remove the massive clutter that is one this one.        Kabuto couldn’t help but be grateful that Orochimaru was lighter and shorter than he, otherwise the process of supporting Orochimaru while he half carried half led the man (who was intoxicated on god knows what on top of the drugs he was already taking by Kabuto’s orders suggestion.) 

       “Mmmm.” He hummed out in agreement, more focused on getting the two of them through the narrow doorway of his apartment and then getting the older man safely into bed. He didn’t believe the sannin truly loved him, at least not in the typical sense, (although what in their relationship was typical?) 

       Finally, with much-anticipated difficulty, he managed to get his intoxicated partner into his shabby studio apartment, then into his bed, and finally slumping down into a small wooden stool nest to his bedside, exhausted. Gently, he helped Orochimaru on to his side. Once done he let out a deep sigh and smoothed a lock of Orochimaru’s hair from his face. What would you ever do without me?

       He sat back down on the stool (which was even more uncomfortable than it looked) and allowed his mind to wander back to what Orochimaru had said earlier. 

       Most of the time Kabuto was certain that while he had made himself an indispensable subordinate Orochimaru would never come close in comparison to his feelings for the sannin. However, it always happened that just when he once again came to terms with their relationship Orochimaru would say something similar to the words he had just spoken which would make Kabuto reevaluate their entire relationship all over again. 

       Their first years together, he had foolishly allowed himself hoard away these admittances of his reliance, then turned dependency on Kabuto. But as the years went by and he came to know the sannin more and more Kabuto had begun to suspect that even at his most vulnerable Orochimaru was simply manipulating him to keep certain that Kabuto;s loyalties remained with him.  

       However, the sannin’s voice was so thick and slurred that it brought an inkling of doubt into Kabuto’s mind. Don’t be absurd, he mentally chided himself. It’s just the drugs talking. However, even as he excused Orochimaru’s words simple drug induced ramblings Kabuto couldn’t help but remember a basic truth about narcotics. They couldn’t force a person to do or say something they genuinely didn’t want to do. Drugs simply lowered one’s inhibitions which made them say things they would never have normally said.

       Orochimaru’s words played once more in his head, ‘ That is the crowning evil, that we can even go so far as to love each other, you and I.’

       “Perhaps so…” he mused to the sannin, who he thought appeared to have fallen asleep some time ago. “or perhaps it’s simply an inescapable part of human….”

“If you’re lucky, you may see some cannibalism and that’s always fun.”

       Kabuto didn’t bother to question when Orochimaru had come across human cannibalism. Orochimaru had relayed to him some of the strangest stories he had yet to hear. There was rarely anything about the serpents life that surprised Kabuto anymore. 

       “Oh? Well, wouldn’t that be an exciting sight to see? If we happen across it remind me to ask what we taste like.”

“I can neither live with you. Nor without you.”

       Kabuto let out an amused huff of air. From where he stood it almost looked as if the older man was pouting. For a man who sought to unlock the secrets of nature’s mortality he took very little measures to ensure that his body (which was declining at a rapidly increasing pace no doubt due to Orochimaru’s refusal to give up his numerous vices.)

       “Why? Because I don’t want you injecting that poison in my apartment?”

       Honestly, he was more surprised than anything that Orochimaru had actually listened. It wasn’t as if he had threatened him with consequences should he go ahead and inject himself. For once, Kabuto decided that for once he would not overanalyze the logistics of Orochimaru’s actions. He was willing to let the matter slide and just be happy that he wasn’t actively poisoning himself for the time being.
