Best Look Yet Drake’s NOCTA x Nike Air Force 1 “Certified Lover Boy”
Though it’s been quite a while since the release of “Certified Lover Boy,” we’ve yet to see Drake‘s commemorative NOCTA x Nike Air Force 1 hit the shelves. This is likely so both the artist and brand can pay more attention to the upcoming Hot Step Air Terra, which is due to release this week in both a black and white colorway. Afterwards, however, we may finally hear news of the romance-infused offering, as more in-hand images have surfaced this morning.

Previously, there were rumors that the NOCTA x Nike Air Force 1 “Certified Lover Boy” was to be scrapped due to how difficult it would be to mass-produce the heart-embossed outsole. That, however, has been confirmed false, and the collaboration should still be due to release. For now, sit tight for further updates.

Get, set, auction: Nike Air Force 1 gets a splashy 40th birthday party
A Nike Air Force 1 and Louis Vuitton collaboration earned $25 million in an auction on the occasion of the line’s 40th anniversary.
Seat belts were fastened and purse strings loosened. On auction were 200 special edition sneakers that were a collaboration between Nike and Louis Vuitton.
The model was the Nike Air Force 1, originally created in 1982 by Nike’s Bruce Kilgore, and later belled and whistled by Virgil Abloh, the late LV designer.
The occasion was the 40th birthday of the AF1. And even at astronomical prices, it was a case of going, going, flown.
A spokesman for the auction house told AFP that the highest price fetched at this auction was more than $350,000 during the online sale that ran from January 26 to February 8.
The sums greatly exceed the initial estimates of Sotheby's, which had started the bidding at $2,000 and had predicted the shoes would sell for between $5,000 and $15,000 a pair.
In the end, the sneakers, which ranged in size from five to 18, averaged more than $100,000 per shoe. The cheapest sold for just over $75,000.
The special edition sneaker was originally created for Louis Vuitton's spring-summer men's collection for 2022, of which Abloh was artistic director.
Abloh, a multi-talented DJ, architect and designer died in November at the age of 41 following a private battle with cancer.
A close associate of Kanye West, Abloh was the first Black American to be named creative director of a top French fashion house and brought streetwear and a less elitist approach to the world of luxury.
The brown, white and cream-colored sneakers boasted Nike's swoosh logo with Louis Vuitton's monogram and damier motifs.
The Air Force 1 may be less known than Air Jordans. But they were the first ever basketball shoe to feature Nike Air technology, revolutionizing the game and sneaker culture forever.
According to the Nike website, the high-top AF-1 was worn by top NBA players of the era, such as Michael Cooper, Bobby Jones, Moses Malone, Calvin Natt, Mychal Thompsen and Jammal Wilkes. As was seen at the Sotheby’s auction, they continue to soar.

Nike Dunk Low "Vintage Navy" is Unveiled
2021 was already an insane year for Nike (NYSE:NKE +0.11%) and its Dunk silhouette as it was released in droves of new colorways both collaborative and GR, and if you haven’t been able to add any pairs to your rotation yet, don’t fret as the Swoosh plans on doubling down on its drops in 2022. In the coming months, we’re going to see a smorgasbord of more makeups, one being the Nike Dunk Low “Vintage Navy” that has just surfaced by way of official imagery.
The top halves of this forthcoming installment adhere to the traditional two-toned motif. Smooth leather constructions are styled to mimic that of the Villanova Wildcats’ color palette and mix between dark navy overlays, Swooshes and interior linings and white finishes that land on the toe boxes, quarters, tongues, laces and collars. Underneath, the midsoles are been given a slightly yellowed exterior which provides the shoes with a vintage effect. Stacked below that is an outsole that comes completely dyed with a matching navy hue.
There’s no official release date for these kicks just yet, but it’s likely that SNKRS and other retailers will be dropping them in the coming months for $100 USD.

PEEP THE FRILL SWOOSH ON NIKE'S "VALENTINE'S DAY" DUNK LOW
Dressed in shades of “Team Red” and “Pink Prime.” While we still have Thanksgiving and Christmas to look forward to, Nike has gone ahead and given its Dunk Low a Valentine’s Day makeover.
The silhouette boasts a hot pink look overall. The upper comes with “Prime Pink” tumbled leather overlays, while the toe boxes, tongues and heel branding are dressed in “Team Red.” Elsewhere, the suede Swooshes are accentuated with lace trim for a unique look. The dark red midsoles and pink outsoles round off the footwear style.
Priced at $120 USD, the women’s Nike Dunk Low “Valentine’s Day” will reportedly drop in February 2022 via Nike’s website and select retailers.

Take an Official Look at the Nike SB Dunk Low "Bart Simpson"
After receiving early imagery, we now have an official look at the Nike (NYSE:NKE +2.82%) SB Dunk Low “Bart Simpson.”
The latest nod to The Simpsons follows the release of 2004’s “Homer” Dunk Low and 2008’s “Marge” Dunk High. Expressing a mix of “Habanero Red/White/Blue Hero,” the design of the shoe is modeled after the iconic look of Bartholomew JoJo Simpson, the oldest of the Simpson children.
The uppers of the Nike SB Dunk Low “Bart Simpson” features bright yellow leather bases accented by red suede overlays, matching laces and tongue tags. Additional detailing comes in the form of white Swooshes and “NIKE” embroidery on the rear, blue sockliners and green insoles inspired by Bart’s skateboard. Rounding up the design of the shoe are white midsoles paired with contrasting blue rubber outsoles.
Priced at $100 USD, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Bart Simpson” is now set to release in the coming weeks.

On-Foot Look at the Nike Dunk High "Sports Specialties"
The commemorative Dunk High is inspired by Sports Specialties’ legendary snapback hats.
Nike (NYSE:NKE +2.82%) is paying homage to Sports Specialties — a hat brand responsible for the legendary “script” snapbacks that were omnipotent in the ’80s and ’90s — with a new Dunk High inspired by the hatmaker’s logo and branding. First revealed earlier in June, this commemorative high-cut Dunk is rich in detailing and follows up April’s “EMB” pack of Sports Specialties-inspired takes on the Dunk High, Air Force 1 High and Air Force 1 Low.
Unique branding appears on both the lateral heel and the tongue tag: the former location features a “Official Nike Basketball” badge, while the latter replaces a standard Nike Sportswear tongue graphic with a Sports Specialties logo hit. Construction is unique as well, with the toeboxes, quarters, tongues and collars alike using navy corduroy while forest green corduroy hits the Swooshes. Mudguards, eyestays, heels and collar flaps take on white leather for a hit of light contrast, while down below white midsoles and navy outsoles round off the look.
The Nike Dunk High “Sports Specialties” will likely release sometime this summer, though Nike has yet to confirm its official date of arrival. Its MSRP is set at $110 USD.

Nike and Supreme have another awesome SB Dunk sneaker on the way
When it comes to footwear, there’s no bigger event for Supreme than a collaborative pair of Nike SB Dunks. The New York City streetwear brand’s long-running partnership with Nike’s skateboarding line has birthed some of the most heralded Dunks in existence, with several pairs now worth thousands of dollars. More recent releases haven’t been quite as fussed over, but a leaked pair of SB Dunk Highs is all but sure to raise some noise.
As in-house images from Nike have revealed, Supreme will use its latest SB release to play with NYC iconography. The text-heavy high-tops utilizes The New Yorker’s iconic font to spell out “By Any Means Necessary” and interrupt the phrase with an “NY” Nike logo done up in varsity letters.
While those words wrap the sneaker’s heels just above the midsole, “Supreme Team” is also spelled out in cursive just above the heel pull. Meanwhile a “No <3” hit on the tip flip’s Milton Glazer’s famous “I <3 NY" graphic, and more varsity font is used for the tongue label with “Sup” covered by the Swoosh.
A WHOLE LOT GOING ON — If someone in the design room for Supreme asked how much text should be used for its SB Dunk High, the answer must have been a firm “yes.” The sneaker is a crowded affair likely to split sneakerheads between viewing it as corny or a perfect encapsulation of Supreme’s attitude.
A sellout is all but guaranteed because Supreme is too big to fail at this point, but whether or not the new Dunk touches the level of acclaim as earlier releases remains to be seen. Supreme’s “Black Cement” and “White Cement” SB Dunk Lows from 2002 brought the sneaker’s elephant print to the foreground for one of the most coveted Dunks in existence, while the star-covered Dunk Highs released a year later are also highly prized.
Supreme or Nike has yet to officially confirm their latest SB collab, but expect the sneaker to release at some point during the FW21 season and bring at least another color scheme. Until then, don’t be surprised if the kicks kick up routine arguments over their merit.

Inside the Shoe Surgeon’s Custom Sneaker School
If you’re anything like me, your footwear rotation is influenced to some extent by the shoes you see on social media, and your next pickup often aligns with the Nike release calendar—and you’re definitely copping them from the SNKRS app StockX. Sure, you got them, but that giddy feeling you get from breaking out a fresh pair of sneakers quickly evaporates when you look at your friends’ feet and realize somehow everyone’s definition of “cool” has become the same. Maybe your next move after this realization is to do a funky lace swap, and perhaps that’s enough flare to bring back that feeling for a while, but what if you had the ability to make your own pair of shoes?
Not like a custom pair from Nike By You. I’m talking about making a sneaker entirely your own. Where you get to learn how to construct the entire shoe using hand-picked materials, colors, and textures, while sparing no detail, down to that last sidewall stitch that’s tucked under the insole.
In December I attended the Shoe Surgeon Academy’s Air Jordan 1 Decon/Recon class to build my own custom pair. Dominic Ciambrone, better known as The Shoe Surgeon, and his team of creatives started the Surgeon Academy in 2017 from their decades of combined industry experience to teach people like you and me how to design, develop, deconstruct, and reconstruct a sneaker. The operation’s mantra is “never stop creating.”
The environment and the energy that the Shoe Surgeon and his team are able to create is special. As soon as you enter their Downtown Manhattan location your attention is immediately captured by Ciambrone’s creations lining the brick walls. Ben & Jerry’s Air Jordan 1s, Grinch Nike Dunks, Air Jordan 1 Off-White Canary Yellow Lux, the list goes on and on. My mind couldn’t help but begin to race, running through colorways, concepts, and inspirations that I tried to pull from as I started to mentally sketch out my design.

Official Look at the 'Chlorophyll' Nike SB Dunk Lows

According to @Soleheatonfeet, the SB Dunk Low is releasing in a “Medium Grey/White-Chlorophyll-Black” color scheme during the holiday season this year. Given its far-off release date, an early look has yet to surface but a mock-up rendering from @zSneakerheadz indicates it will feature a white leather upper that’s paired with grey overlays while black Swoosh branding appears on the sides. The shoe’s standout details are the green accents covering the tongue tag and heel tab.
