My face is having uncontrollable spasms. Great. It hurts really, really, really bad.

I think part of why I have trouble explaining pain to the doctor is when they ask about the pain scale I always think “Well, if someone threw me down a flight of stairs right now or punched me a few times, it would definitely hurt a lot more” so I end up saying a low number. I was reading an article that said that “10” is the most commonly reported number and that is baffling to me. When I woke up from surgery with an 8" incision in my body and I could hardly even speak, I was in the most horrific pain of my life but I said “6” because I thought “Well, if you hit me in the stomach, it would be worse.”

Been good just got off work so I was hanging with my nephew and cousin. Very lwk night for me

I like this time of day tho cause everyone is asleep and I get the house to myself for a few hours(till I pass out lol)

I finished college (which is the step for university here); went to Europe for three weeks, visited Paris, a few cities in Belgium with my class and then went alone in two more, visiting Germany and meetin @neonmice in person (LOVE U)

I started university, to be a highschool teacher, i made new friends (my first group of friends! - i had been rejected pretty much all my life by other kids so yeah), started a DnD campain, and learned to really love life. I finally talked to my dad about some things, and we understand each other so much more after that.

I started exercising again, and drawing and writing some stories i hadnt touch for three years, and managed to leave most of my depression behind and be happy.

And im starting this new years on the best way i can, being myself and happier than ever before.

Im finally studying something i love, and doing a job that is well payed and nice, made new friends that i can be myself with, and just be a young adult.

Despite all the bad stuff happening everywhere, here, my life is great.

hey honest question, did anybody have GOOD stuff happen to them in 2024? cause it was really bad for me and for most people i know, so it would be nice to hear about anything that's been going WELL for any of you. even if it's small stuff. just to know there's light out there.

A whole bunch of friends have told me that I’m genuinely presenting much more androgynously at various points this year.

I know it’s not necessary to present androgynously to be nonbinary - there’s literally no single way to be nonbinary - but, absolutely honestly, androgyny is a thing I’ve been wanting my entire life. I kept presenting much more traditionally femme for literally decades because I was small curvy and round in the face and just assumed I’d never remotely manage it because I wasn’t the tall slender elven waif I always dreamed of being. I just assumed I’d look terrible if I tried to present as androgynous.

Then I got sick, and found out more and more about gender, and about *my* gender, and thought “fuck it”.

And it turned out short hair looked much better on me than I ever guessed.

And it turns out there’s more ways to present androgynously than being built like Tilda Swindon.

And it turned out that a *fuck* of a lot of the nearly-eating-disorder that has plagued me since I was about 12 was actually dysphoria, and changing my presentation did a *surprising* amount to fix it.

But hearing from other people in the wild that I’m genuinely managing this, that it’s not just something that *I *see in myself - that’s still pretty special to me.

I’m 40. The fact that I’m still finding a new way to be authentically myself that is genuinely making me happier

One of the sweetest things is when you post a new work on AO3 and then one of your old works gets a comment because it means that somebody read the new thing and liked it so much that they went and checked what other stuff you wrote and they liked that enough to tell you about it and I just think that is so fucking precious!! thank you thank you thank you to the people who do that, keep doing it it's the best feeling as an author
