In my second oil painting, I decided to look for an alternative surface to the canvas that I used on the first. I didn't like the texture and stretch of the canvas. I now know that I am just using cheap materials!

So, I moved to a thin wood board and learned yet another thing: I needed to gesso the surface in preparation of paint!

Here, I also started working on human anatomy, specifically the hands. I just love how expressive they can be. Besides, I am a biology teacher mostly focusing on humans, so it makes sense.
