This is my final poster, I am very happy with this as it has taken me so long to get all the type in the right place, i really like the fact i have managed to set apart each line of the haiku so its in keeping with the theme but also show off particular words that jumped out to me like 'smothering' and 'grey'. I have purposely put the word grey down at the bottom as its harder to read, this makes it a slightly unpleasant experience for the viewer which is what the poem was about; how a nice place has been ruined and now its not pleasant, its grey.

These are the ideas i decided to carry out for my poster design, i decided that the first was wasn't structured enough and looked cluttered and messy (OCD kicked in) and then the second was far too structured and i felt that it didn't have enough movement to represent the poem adequately. I liked the background a lot though so i decided to stick with that as i thought it ported the poem well by the fact theres lots of images of fields overlayed so therefore 'smothering' each other but they are all grey.

For the poster i was looking on the internet for ideas (as I'm not familiar with the concept) i came across these two, the first i really liked because of how simple the idea was but how impactful it was and the second was very similar to my project, I like how there is just one image of the surroundings and the type is very plainly put centred on the image.

This is my finished typeface, i'm very happy with the outcome of this as I think it reflects the poem with both my interpretation and also the author, Alexander Jolly's. I have used silhouettes of twigs to create these and once i have created the letter i then created another two layers and changed the opacity on one to 50% and the other to 22% and adjusted the size to make it look like it has shadows on it. For the first typeface i have ever created, I don't think its bad!

I tried making lowercase letters for my typeface but i don't feel like they are very strong, i know my uppercase letters are much better so will look more impactful on my work.

This is the first idea i had on photoshop, i wanted to make the typeface look misty and mysterious to represent the poem but also use a slight amount of green to represent the 'once green fields' I like this however i think i could do better because it was very easy to create.

This shows the progression of my first typographical experiment. I cut the letters up and stuck them down to completely re-invent the font. I like this effect however its very time consuming.

These are all of my home pages, I think they work really well and look very consistent. I particularly like the way the images are all the same and all the information is consistent making it easy to navigate around. Its all very self explanatory as there are icons that are hugely popular on all websites like the looking glass for a search bar.

this is the logo for my brand, I really like how well this works with the rest of my work, the shading around the letters makes it stand out and i like how the edge of where the C and the E going up on the right hand side isn't perfectly straight.

I saw this a while ago on the topshop website, i think its a very good idea as when you click on it it takes you to a page where there are clothes suitable for that weather, i have used that for inspiration within my websites.

I think this really represents a wasteland, I don't think this would work very well as individual letters making the typeface hard to create if i were to do it this way, however I still think this works very well

I like how this is faded at the edges making it almost look like a 'misty mirage' I like how its almost illegible and makes you really pay attention to the details, it gives it much more character than if a font is completely legible.

I really like this idea for the poster of my typeface, i like how its not just typographic, its also illustrated linking to the words. I will consider this when creating my poster.
One of the illustrations that I contributed to Workman Publishing’s Great Day calendar series of happy quotes

After emailing the poet about my interpretation I found out that my interpretation wasn't too far off his original ideas of the seasons, i will try and interpret both his ideas of the seasons and mine of the gloomy wasteland into the next steps I carry out.
