I'm overly obsessed with the idea of Arthur being envious /jealous of the relationship between marlin and gwain/Lancelot

Particularly with them knowing about merlin's magic and having conversations like:

Lancelot: and you are eyes!!! So bright and amazing, truly stunning Merlin!!! How are you still not courting someone?

and Merlin blushing and trying to stop Lancelot and Arthur hearing only this last bit and being at least curious but then he overhears another bit of conversation with Gwain, who's wrapping his arm around merlin's shoulders

Gwain: and you were so amazing! So quick and precises! Astonishing! Wish I could do that too!

and again Merlin being flustered about it and Arthur watching them, confused and increasingly more irritated and I picture him in the end blurting out "I AS WELL THINK YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL MERLIN" without understanding the contest.

Ill see if I can draw something like it, and in general how merlin is so intimate with Lancelot and Arthur pining wofkeo [if any1 as fanfic with this dynamic, im begging you]

A sorcerer creates a hummunculus that looks exactly like Arthur.

Arthur knows this, because he's staring right at him.

The problem is, the hummunculus thinks he's truly Arthur. But before Arthur can dive into the uncomfortable philosophical question whether that could be the truth, the creature shows what it's here for.

To cause havoc.

Arthur's copy has no filter. And he does not lie about Arthur's innermost feelings.

"Rise and shine, clotpole", the chipper voice of Merlin echoes in his room.

Arthur stares at his copy with wide eyes. "Don't you dare!"

The creature's smile brightens.

Arthur's life is ruined, really.

ok well i asked the cryptic fucking dragon that was imprisoned underground 20 years ago and he told me that no one can choose or escape their destiny so. he may have also told me i have a soulmate in the guy whose guts i hate but i dont really have time to think about that right now

the thing about merlin and arthur is that, while yes there are lots of moments we can point to in the show when arthur is an utter arse to merlin, he is in fact — and especially based on what arthur knows — incredibly accepting and indulgent of merlin, about everything from his more seemingly benign quirks (intense strangeness... see: woodworms) to his more serious transgressions (apparently disappearing for days at a time for, *checks notes*, a drunken bender) and arthur just. lets him. by series 4 especially. merlin gets away with murder (which, to arthur at least, is an idiom)

and the thing about that is! i think merlin sees this as arthur ultimately not caring, further evidence of arthur not seeing him, and of arthur dismissing him as ultimately unimportant, in the grand scheme of things. but it's actually because arthur has just decided to dismiss whatever it is he has to, to have merlin in his life.

Morgana: *raising chin defiantly* well, it should be

Arthur leaves the council chambers

Leon who stayed behind with a deadly expression: If you ever do as much as look at Merlin the wrong way I'll promise you'll regret it

Gwaine, who witnessed the whole thing, after Agravillian left: Leon? You too???

this is the most sane thing one can do. I might actually do the same

I am not sure if I ever shared this beautiful painting i had commissioned because I am insane. But also merlin/colin in season 3 hits DIFFERENT. I haven't figured out where it's going in my room yet as I still need to paint it and get it organized. Things have just been happening left and right and I haven't had the chance. And yes it needed an ornate frame.

i attended a medieval literature class where every single student had watched bbc’s merlin and some of the ways the show was described include

‘the one where king arthur has a hot magical twink’

‘has an evil cgi dragon acting like a bridge toll giving prophecies and riddles’

‘the gay one with the gays and the lesbians’

and my personal favourite, ‘merlin commits too hard to the bit and suffers for it’
